My Dad served in the 7 th Division of the Prinz Eugen Waffen SS under Artur Phleps. Was wounded twice and spend 2 years as a POW in Italy and England. Finally came back home to Germany in 1948. He served his country with honor and was not a so called war criminal as many believe the SS were.

God bless his soul, for he served his country well.

This division was the first SS division with slavic members. Sepp Dietrich said this in a plaing of recrutiment " These men are only here to save german blood, the one who does not vounliunteer shall get his house bruned down". So this division was not really liked by SS oficers, the power of the divison was not comparable to that of Wiking or Das Reich who were the 2 best SS divisions.

....oni su ti slagali, il nisu imali pojma o jedinicama. zato sto nema nikakvih Soldbuch-a, dokumenata, sto i kaze da je bilo 2-3 hrvata u 7.SS diviziji.

April 1944-te je bilo manje of 300 njih u Handschar diviziji.

i SS komandiri su rekli, potom njihovi dezertacija da nebi primili jos jednog hrvata a kamoli hrvatskog oficira u SS.
