  • damn the wii would have been bettter if Panasonic Q would have sold

  • @T16Akatsuki Haha hell yah. I miss those days too. Even PC gaming meant everyone in the same room

  • You know, have you ever tried hunting down the Visteon XV101?

It's a portable DVD player that has a second function as a GBA. I think I saw it advertised in a Toy Catalog, but it is licensed by Nintendo. It had a wireless controller, and I think, was initially intended to be used as a DVD player for cars.

  • Uh, I put bread in my toaster, and turned it on. Then I flipped the toaster upside down. Some of the bread hit the heating elements and caught fire. This is a bad toaster.

  • The disc getting lodged is not a fault of the system. it's a fault of an idiot moving it around while the disc is in it

  • @tuohy05 Yes!

  • The disc getting dislodged with any form of movement also occurs with the phillips CDI.

  • I miss my gamecube. that was the time when gaming was awesome! you didn't sit alone and play with your friends on wifi, you actually had them over and you huddled around the screen eating pizza and drinking soda all night long. those were the good old days

  • You can burn games to a DVD and play it on the system

  • I am in the U.S. and i just had one of these imported do I need a special AC adapter or can i just use the one that it came with?

  • why only in japan

  • @pokesonic1234 i dunno. maybe shipping??

  • @Fredcool95 or production costs

  • You can pick up a Panasonic Q for around 6000 yen ($60). Q comes from the word Cube in English. The CU part of CUbe is written exactly the same when you pronounce the english letter as to when you pronounce the word cube. キュ vs キューブ

I remember it was released in Nojima (All of Japan) and Kojima (east Japan) electronic stores. I don't remember seeing it in any other stores. Original retail was around 30,000 yen ($300).

  • Ok that will be the last review I will watch from you unfortunately. You talk a lot that good but in most of your video you NEVER SWITCH ON the console it self or very rarely. For the Gamecube Q you are quiet miss-informed on the subject. The "Q" was never meant to be sold out of Japan and even not for the general public. The market touch was quiet very different indeed since .... well .... :) have a good life !!

  • Comment removed

  • I think the reason it's called the "Q" is that "Cube" is not a word that can be pronounced in the Japanese language. See, they use syllables instead of individual sounds to spell out words. They usually add a "U" sound when a solid consonant is present in a word they're translating. So "Q" sounded enough like "Cube" to get the message across w/o having to create a new word. Plus, it's kinda cool sounding, so I guess they just went with it.

  • wow that is really cool looking ill give them that

  • This is GameCube from the future :D

  • @xxP4P3RW0RKZxx did you even listen... Nintendo let Panasonic market the console as a joint. It was a game cube just made by Panasonic.

  • Of course a japanese person would take the gamecube and say, *japanese translated to english* " MAN I'M GONNA MAKE MY OWN SYSTEM THAT LOOKS JUST LIKE GAMECUBE ONLY COOLER AND SHINER AND WITH LED LIGHTS! AND CHICKS!! AND WITH LOTS AND LOTS OF BUTTONS YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

*american boy* "........ehhh gamecube is alright.."

  • I always thought that my green n64 was the coolest looking system ever made.... But WOW look at this thing!!!!!!!! God DAMN IT I LOVE PANASONIC SO MUCH. the controller even says Panasonic! that makes it that much cooler! and the system Wow fascinating! imagine what it would be like if this was released first before the GameCube? O.o be a high end top rated system!!!

  • looks like a cyberman's head :)

  • Gamecube and Xbox isn't 128-bits.

  • Dude, I want to see the system's menu screen. Could you do a video showing it?

  • sexiest game system ever made!

  • Nintendo GameQbe

  • Damn, this system looks awesome even for today's technology standards

  • You think i can actually find one of thouse in ebay for a cheap prise i meen it plays DVD and plays gamecube games thats awsome but i think ill just get a nintendo Wii but IDK i prefer a PS3 or an Xbox 360

  • It's about as rare as the 64DD. I stayed away from Japanese items after the Famicom/Disk System and Super Famicom, because dealing with some of the sellers in Japan has been a bit of a headache at times.

  • Great console, but damn is it expensive! I remember my uncle spotted one on ebay years and years back and it had a starting bid of £10 and he left it to see how it would go and when he forgot about it and checked back to discover it ended with no bids.... Still annoys me to this day haha! Right now there is only ONE on ebay for £600+ and it's from Hungary! Damn, also subbed great videos dude!

  • thats a pretty nifty gadget you got there.

  • This is how the cube should have been idiots Nintendo

  • IIRC, you could also buy a Panasonic Q Game Boy Player, which was made since the Q has those little legs at the bottom and was way longer.

  • nice..they should've called it Qb =)..i love my gamecube..would be nice to own one of these rarities.sort of looks a bit like a midi hifi..would be quite easy to walk straight past one of these in the unlikely event one turned up at a carboot/garage sale

  • nice..they shouldv'e called it Qb =)..i love my gamecube..would be nice to own one of these rarities.

  • I bought a panosonic gamecube off ebay for $350 a few years back...The lid is stuck open =(

Sigh it's still beautiful and is a great keeper.

  • it looks like a toaster XD

  • It's called Q after the creator Q from James bond.

  • you pulled the disc out of the hard drive? that a new one. I know what you meant im just a troll

  • Did you have to mod this yourself to make it region free?

  • Never knew this even existed. Interesting.

  • Great review, cool looking system. But it wasn't distributed only in Japan. I remember seeing it in shops in Europe (Germany, Austria, Hungary etc.)

  • @josehtd It was only officially released in Japan. If you saw it any anywhere else it was imported from Japan.

  • @Jackiechan39 I remember seeing it in two panasonic stores, one in Budapest and another one somewhere in Germany. But you might be right, because now that I think about it they had one unit displayed next to their top tv set, so it's possible that they displayed it only for show. Back then I didn't ask any particular details, because it looked really expensive and I already owned a gc.

  • what system don't you have???

  • does this use the standard gamecube cables, once i get a summer job i'm thinking about savin up to buy this shit

  • that's not remote controller~

    that's wiisonic controller~

    XDXD

  • Dude, when you turn your cap forwards you look like Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine

  • Console war discussion is for chumps, if you are lucky you may realize that someday.

  • Man, as we can see, the "out" of the ventilation is on the left side.

But where is the "in" of this ventilation ?

  • Q lol :3

  • It's a dang high tech toaster I tell ya!

  • My mom's boss in Texas has one!

  • haha hey i have that same colored gamecube with the screen only mine also has the gameboy/gameboy advance player at the bottom.

but you probably have that too.

    anyway, awesome collection!

  • I saw this thing in the phillipines it was 5000 php and us prize is $114 and 18 cents

  • Comment removed

  • hey Gamester81, do you have any T-shirts on ebay man ?

  • Gamester81 - Can you play U.S. region games on the panasonic Q ??

  • I see why it did not sell well - it is too cumbersome and quite pointless

  • Never knew you did a video on the Panasonic Q!

A few years back I saw a few of theses in a store and they were selling them for around £150 - 200 ($230 - $313) which I thought it was a good price for one, wish I had one. So going to get one if I find it again!

By the way may I ask, are your video's scripted or improvised?

Also did you ever get the Special Game Boy Player for it?

  • hee i know you from a happy console gamer episode!

  • Maybe your disc got scratched cuz you lifted the fuck in thing WHILE THERE IS A DISC INSIDE OF IT

  • I think they got the Q from cube.

  • @geno344 I think they got the Q from star trek. XD jk.

  • lol. gameqbe!

  • You can play copies on this?

  • I probably would have bought it had it come out in the states.

  • ever since the first episode of AllGenGamers I have just been going through all your videos that I haven't seen and damn this system looks really awesome

  • wow

  • i am eating a blue berry poptart toasted while i am watching.lol

  • this problem you had happened to me on my 3do years ago. my little bro lifted it up and the disk fell down the back of the console. you think panasonic would of learned.

  • This thing is so fucking diesel

  • The gamecube as a system is not too small to play DVD's, but the original case just doesn't allow it; aftermarket cases allow you to boot CD-R's etc. w/ the original gamecube. Google "Viper" case I believe.

  • The nintoster 2.

  • Heyy gamester quick question how much did u get urs for? and if iht was marked for a lower price here in the u.s. do u think iht would've done well here?

  • the Q should have been released again with the wii options then you would have the ultimate system.

  • very great and rare system. i would love to own one. but i think the asking price is a little steap.

  • It's a shame that the Q didn't get released in the US at a reasonable price. If Panasonic had been able to get the price down to $299, it could have been a major contender against the PS2 and Xbox. Word has i that Nintendo forced Panasonic into an agreement to only ship limited quantities of the Q, because Nintendo feared that it would be a vehicle for piracy. Unfortunately though, people ended up pirating Gamecube games anyway and the system didn't sell very well overall since it had no DVD.

  • just skip to 1:10

  • So why did japan get the Panasonic Q and everywhere else got the gamecube?

Not to say the gamecube was rubbish cuz i like it but still?

  • they should put this thing on the market in the u.s.a I would buy it the gamecube would make a comeback it would be really huge if they made it able to play wii games (if you wanna sell the panasonic q we could work something out)

  • Wasn't the Q also region free?

  • LOL i see your reflection

  • You forgot to mention the Nintendo logo at the bottom of the D-Pad.

  • the "q" stands for qunt.

  • @TheBloodyKnife1

You watched too much chad warden.

  • If it had had a built in GAMEBOY PLAYER it would have been amazing.

  • Wow, this thing is STILL going for a pretty mint on Ebay!

  • WHy the fuck do companies ALWAYS do that!? Release a hybrid and expect the public to look past the extortionately high price when instead they could buy both systems separately and it'd be so much cheaper? The CDX is probably the biggest flop in this department, which is a shame because it looked so cool. Really this should have been about $80 more than the normal gamecube tops.

  • Panasonic Q is the very root of temptation itself!

I want one so bad hehe

  • did not know about that ...Thank you!!!!

  • Matsushita is pronounced:

    Mat-su-sh-ta.

And, the company is no longer known as Matsushita Electric; it's now Panasonic Corporation.

  • this is a beast of a system

  • are u married?

  • Just bought one at the best price of £160. im so happy! :-)

  • Great! GameCube was such a great system, in fact the most powerful of the 128 bits systems, games like Resident evil 1 or Zelda twilight are just beutiful, the Graphics used in those games can't be find in the rival system, the best way to prove it is comparing GameCube's Resident 4 and PS2's one. Talking about Panasonic Q, it's just incredible, i heard about it many years ago when it was called "GameQ" and i hadn't idea that it was released just three months after the GameCube........

  • It was a shame that Nintendo and Panasonic had decided releasing it just in Japan. It's a very complete system, and really beautiful. Nintendo GameCube was just an incredible system with anthology games the problem was that the "Piratery" (ilegal games) was the strongest point of PS2, obvious! the most part of people prefer cheaper games instead of quality games, and that's the main definition of GameCube games "Quality". Great video dude! thanks for showing one of your treasures!

  • @Alan170287 It would of lost nintendo money if they sold it outside.

  • @Alan170287

it wasnt as powerful as the xbox, to think otherwise is just delusional.

sure, it came up with some pretty good stuff sometimes, but the xbox was undeniably more powerful.

i have a GC here somewhere......

  • @iwanthalo3 yeah! but XBOX didn't show all its potential in a game "that is the important" that's why GameCube was 1 step forward, besides XBOX din't create epic games like the Cube, so yeah, XBOX was alittle bit more ´powerful talking about the main processor but they didn't show anything awesome like the games i metioned before.

  • @Alan170287

im sorry, ive got a GC here, and sure, resident evil looked really good, but that doesnt make the platform powerful, which is what you said.

and there are far more games for the original xbox that i want to play than the GC.

  • @iwanthalo3 Epic games dude, where are those epic games in XBOX? the games make a videogame console, Microsoft is just starting in the videogame world, Nintendo has nothing to demonstrate cause they revolutionize the industry everytime they create a plattform. And you say "a game doens't make a plattform powerful" so, what is it then? like i said on my previous comment XBOX was a little bit more advance talking about the graphics aspects, but just in the paper! The GC showed that potencial!

  • @Alan170287

what i meant by that, was putting say, a 360 game, on a wii, doesnt mean that the wii is powerful.

the reason that those gamecube games looked good, was that they were made specifically for the GC.

take a look at chronicles of riddick, halo 2, doom 3 and half life 2, and then try to tell me that the GC was more powerful than the xbox 1.

  • @Alan170287 xbox more powtfll

  • @VinnyLT9000 english easy to learn

  • @Alan170287 No shit? the Gamecube version of resident evil 4 is better than the Ps2 verion? OMG!??? lol. The Xbox (original) was better than the game cube though.

  • @thelasthallow no better, much better. XBOX? what is XBOX?

  • @Alan170287 The Xbox was more powerful than Gamecube.

  • @BudzMcgr33n It was more powerful on paper. although some people argue that the GC could perform better than the xbox or atleastmatch it. Look at Resi 4, mario sunshine, rogue leader etc. Both system had their strengths and weaknesses. And the xbox was basically a pc and more succesful so was allot easier to make good looking games. The GC had to mostly put up with PS2 ports, bad ones at that. Its a shame ninty didnt have the Q as the main console as people wanted DVD. And GTA.

  • @Alan170287 NICE COMMENT BUT RE4 IS NOW GONNA BE DLC FOR 360-PS3 IN FULL 1080P I AGREE WITH YOU FOR REMAKE BUT AS FOR RE4 THE GAMECUBE GRAPHICS WERENT ASS CRISP

  • @Alan170287 GameCube's only 64-bit, I think.. I don't know.. after the N64 no one seems to care what bits something is.. I don't even think the Dreamcast is 64 bit either..

  • @ultimateshadowx9 N64 was 64-bit hence the name N64, sega dreamcast was a 128-bit system just like the gamecube and PS2 were.

  • @goblinslayer53

Gamecube is not 128-bits. Besides it have nothing do with power. N64 also mainly used 32-bit software.

  • @Alan170287 i loved my game cube and had both xbox and later on a ps2 last gen too..i always thought the grafx on the cube were a lot more vibrant and crisp than the xbox although the xbox seemed to have more depth and seemed more powerful graphially but always seemed a bit muddy and dingy..the ps2 was just the most commercial..i loved em all but i think gamecube will always be the dearest cos it has some serious character, great games and those likkle discs are skill as f@@k =)

  • @dannyofthededd Xbox could do 720p so your wrong Xbox had best graphics game cube mini disc suck balls not letting you develop homebrews and gamecube handle was just LOL.

  • @CrAzY3AGL3 720p 720schmee..i always make a noise when i laugh..each to their own i suppose..

  • wow damn. awesome

  • The main reason this didn't sell too well was because it was cheaper to buy a separate dvd player and gamecube. If they had priced it at about $200 instead of $429 then i recon this wud have been the gamecube we know today.

  • will a standard power lead like a dreamcast lead work on the panasonic q?

  • If the DC is from Japan then maybe, otherwise probably not because the volts are different.

  • @Gamester81 Cables make not a difference; if the cable fits into the back and into the wall, then it will work.

  • @Gamester81 Not really true. Japa uses 100 and we use 120. Almost everything from Japan works totally fine without any converters.

  • @chrisgcox3 if not you can always buy a power down converter

  • That's crazy.

I'm always fascinated by the game systems you dig up, man. :)

  • I want that controller, do you know if and where I can buy it? seperate from the console.

  • @floreneos1

    I recommend trying ebay.

  • Tried and failed ;(

  • @flareneos1 ebay for $100

  • Im sorry if this is a noob question but can it play american games?

  • If you hack the sides so a dvd or cd will fit into a normal gamecube, will it read or is the software different?

  • Soffware is different.

  • Oh well, it doesn't matter because I don't own anything nintendo-based.

  • @Gamester81 software...or hardware.

  • @mattsprinter u can mod it n make your own housing. to do that w certain files on ur mem card hack. that lcd screen on the reg gc is sought after for custom 1 of a kind portable console project people make n sell for 700-3,000 on ebay once in a great while. i got 2 screens if someone is interested. 100 each. a ps2 one n 1 gc. i can get many other japanese n pirate famicom game craze people r getting into.

  • @mattsprinter I've used a MiniDVD and the GameCube goes to check the BCA and since DVDs don't have them, it stops reading it. Same goes for 12 cm DVDs. CDs are impossible to read on a GameCube, the drive has no IR laser.

  • Is it really rare? I seen one in Japan a few years ago and I wished that i would've bought it.

  • Yeah it's rare, and worth a lot now.

  • so i wonder if someone is going to make a highend Wii?

  • wow panasonic never fails of over pricing their systems

  • That's got to be the sexiest console ever.

  • i am almost positive i saw one of these in an arizona thrift store not more than a week ago. I am heading back tomorrow to check. SOunds crazy but i figured it was just a 'gamecube lite" or some cheap knockoff....... will report back if I find a Q for 10 bucks!

  • Great and beautiful collectors item. I would know cause I own one. But never will I man handle any of my systems like you did in this video. I don't think it's good for the system to completely turn it over that fast like that.

Sure they are well built, but still. There's a difference between rarity, and common. The Q is defiantly not something you can go out and buy again.

No offense. Take care of it man. I'm sure when you go to sell it, the person on the other will want it in nice condition.

  • I appreciate your opinion. How do you propose that I turn it around to show in this video without moving it? I understand the value of this system and all my systems and do take great care of them.

  • Just seems like you could have lightly turned it over, rather than what you did in the video, that's all. Sounded like something was lose inside when you did too.

Just an opinion. You paid for it; I didn't. You can treat it however you like, its just I like to see other collectors such as yourself take care of rare items like the Q, that's all.

  • jesus, calm yourself.

  • What? I am calm. You act like I'm flipping out. No where in my post does it show that I'm flipping out.

Jesus calm yourself? Really dude. Was that necessary?

  • If it means anything I didnt' think you "flipped out". You're intitled to your opinion and I appreciate you watching man.

  • And I appreciate that man. It really means something when someone understands, rather than milking the situation.

Never had any attention on trying to start an argument on your video comments. I just thought maybe I could give some advice.

Seems like some people fail to understand that.

  • heh youre clearly wound up now.

    he handled the console fine.

  • "Heh", Ok buddy. Whatever you say.

  • Another awesome systems review John!! Gosh.. that thing really looks sexy!! I hope to get one someday!! Really cool!

  • Thanks for watching/commenting buddy.

  • Is there some kind of region lockout in Gamecube games? or all games just play in this system, I saw some pictures some time ago and I liked it but I always wondered if it would play all Gamecube games or just Japanese ones. Thank you in advance.

  • There is a region lockout on these systems, however you can mod them to play any region.

  • found one on craigslist in vegas for $400.... lasvegas(dot)craigslist(dot)org/vgm/1380964700(dot)html

  • Awesome...I love classic game systems!!

  • wow its like the gamecube from the future D:

  • i justed check on eBay 750 dollars.....wooooow, its too bad this wasn't the gamecube that we all have. i love the mirror in the front and the blue led lights

  • Nice summary of the Panasonic Q. I like the 5.1 Surround Sound output on the back. :D

    5/5 stars from me

  • GRRR why aren't my videos as good as YOURS!?... :P Once again Gamester Perfect Review! I was wondering if you could do a review of, i think it's called, the Vic 20? I SAW ONE ONCE at my Flea Market... BOXED! Complete!!!!! and I passed on it! ALKHSF:OKHDKJBVDKLJBNDKFB!

So yeah, If you have it i'd like to see what I missed out on. Thanks Gamester!

  • You treat your stuff like shit. Why were you manhandling everything?

  • I agree on this. Thank you. Finally someone who understands how to actually take care of something so valuable.

  • These are fantastic and informative videos, but please do something about the lighting, it's always so fricking dark. Please don't think I'm dissing you, I watch all your videos and they're all awesome :-)

  • need to work on not saying umm and ahhh all the time. Every video you make u do it like a million times. I know its a bad habit alot of people have, but just letting you know bro. Gets annoying after a while...lol

  • Great Review

  • Hey great video.

I was just wondering if you can play with the Panasonic Q controller on the regular Gamecube and the cube controller on the Panasonic Q or do they only work on their intended systems?

    Thanks.

  • Yeah the contollers will work for both systems. They're basically the same other then the color and name on them.

  • Was the controller grey?

  • Yeah you are correct it is a grey controller.

  • I was hoping hey were not, oh well, guess I'll be buying this one too, lol.

  • That is an excellent collectors treasure :P
