  • It is a pleasant surprise to see Lou Thesz at the top of this roster. I am pleased, verily.

Very good work, and thanks for posting, friend.

  • What criteria are you using? I like most of the list, but Dan Severn, I don't get. He held the belt for a long time because he never wrestled. The NWA kept it on him b/c it had lost all it's importance and they felt having it on a "real" wrerstler/fighter gave it more legitamacy. He was also a terrible and I mean terrible in ring worker, stiff as a board. Dusty may have been a transitional champ, but he held the belt when it was THE BELT, and he headlined big matches against the greatest ever.

  • no more red lettering please

  • wut about dusty rhodes?

  • @michaeljackson1978 Dusty was a transitional champion for Race & Flair. It's a shame a legend like Dusty never got it longer than he did.

  • Can't argue w/the top 3!

  • Why is Severn on this list he very rarely defended the belt he was more concern with the UFC.

  • I am relieved Lou Thesz was there, A list about best champions or best wrestlers isn't complete without Lou Thesz

  • Lou Thesz is god!

  • Amazing music. What's the name of it?

  • @Ormianin father to son it was used on last edition of wcw nitro

  • WHAT JEFF FUCKING JARRETT IS ON THE LIST BULLSHIT

  • @CenaisTheBest1TV READ THE DESCRIPTION. DESPITE THE POLITICS, HE WAS A GREAT HEEL CHAMPION.

  • I am very happy to see Lou Thesz at number one. As good as Ric Flair was, Thesz was just amazing

  • Why is Christian not on this list? His title win actually meant something as well. Deserves an honorable mention at least.

  • @TophDaGreat when he won it it meant something. but his reigns were very mediocre.

  • top 15 suggestion top 15 ultimate x matches

  • Great List

  • this are fucking reigns man, not some 20-70 days reign

  • I made my own list of the 10 Best NWA World Heavyweight Champions, and for the record, here they are... (Note: All of my choices are from back when the NWA World Heavyweight Championship actually meant something) 1. Lou Thesz 2. Ric Flair 3. Harley Race 4. Dory Funk, Jr. 5. Gene Kiniski 6. Pat O’Connor 7. Jack Brisco 8. Orville Brown 9. Buddy Rogers 10. Terry Funk Notice anything peculiar?
  • whats the music

  • What about the american dream. the 15th guy shouldnt even be on the list. Muta Sting Luger AJ Styles Christian Cage Colt Cabana Steamboat

  • @DreDaDon16 Luger was never NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Dusty was just a transitional champion in between Race and Flair. Steamboat's 1 reign was short lived(he should have had it longer and more than once.) Sting's & AJ's reigns were short lived.(Both had to deal with politics) Muta & Cabana, while great wrestlers(muta one of the best ever) weren't great champions.

  • Ric Flair unlike Lou Thesz.. Flair kept the title for nearly as long.. thought amongst 10 reigns.. Flair also wrestled in a tougher era of NWA.. Harley Race, Ricky Steamboat, etc

  • Awesome. All great athletes. Long Live Professional Wrestling.

  • Yess the Top 15 is back! Nice list.

  • @WeAreProWrestling I see. Thanks for the info, you saved me from a slow-loading Wikipedia search lol.

  • @Hitmonchan107 yeah. i had to do further research, because i completely forgot Abyss was NWA World Champion.

  • Is Blue Demon also the first Mexican to win the title?

  • @Hitmonchan107 he is the 1st mexican to win the nwa world heavyweight championship.

  • @WeAreProWrestling Cool. And who was the first masked man to win the title since you changed your description?
