  • Love the hair tip great and to the point.

  • I love the way you did your hair so i tried it but pu the first 3 rollers in wrong i LMAOF"!! All day so i corrected it . Thanks

  • y do u roll the sides in the opposite directions than u did the front

  • Your vids were GR8!!! We miss you. Please come back soon :-)

  • I'm going to start rolling my sides up, instead of under, b/c it seems like I always have too much hair in the rollers on the sides, behind my ear... Like maybe my head is an abnormal shape or somethin.... What do you guys think?

  • @girlwonder614 when u have new growth u can get the top side of your hair smooth from the roller bc that will be the side touching the roller. And your hair will be flatter to your head like flat ironed hair rather than big at the roots (which is better for thin hair to add volume). The Dominican salons I've gone to roll under also.

  • I wonder if it makes a difference in rolling the hair up or rolling it under?

  • @jgurl66 if you think about it like a curling iron, you roll away from your face. Using a roller going up makes it curl away from your face.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong please! (I'm just guessing anyways.)

  • This actually helped me soo much even though it wasn't a tutorial. Good job! Thanks. :)

  • DAAAAAMMN MA!!! UR A BADASS IF U CAN ROLL YA OWN HAIR LIKE THAT...

  • wow, you make it look waaay too easy. You look like you've been doing that for ten years. I can't set my hair that fast or perfectly to save my life

  • This women is so pretty!

  • where did u buy the thing that u put on yo head?

  • This was very helpful. I see you roll the sides going up and not down.

  • Beautiful!

  • You're very good at that! Wish I could see what your hair looked like when you took down the rollers.

  • This is simply the greatest rollersetting video of all time! (Nice choice on the background music.) Not too many hair pros can go as fast and maintain a tight roll and excellent symmetry. Some of your viewers would be interested in seeing a demonstration of a soft bonnet hair dryer in an upcoming video.

  • Dag, u made that look so effortless......Go job...

  • dats how u do a roller set either on natural (Oh yes believe me!) tresses or processed using lottabody enjoy!

  • how long does this normally take you??

  • I like your videos but sorry this music sounds like im at a freakn circus!!!! I cant take it !!! .... smh

  • ummm yeah so where is the finished product?

  • your good

  • i keep putting my hair in rollers and sleeping with them in and they just turn out to be really crazy the next day ): they're either frizzy or still wet and i just cant do the back rollers right at all. i have really curly, long hair and i dont have a big hair dryer, just a blow dryer but i do know people who sleep with them in and they come out great the next day , what am i doing wrong ?

  • @xOdEEbAYbELAtiNAXx: Air-drying a roller set especially on long hair can take 9 hrs. or more. I would suggest investing in a reasonably priced hood dryer from sally's or somewhere else (I got mine at sally's and it works fine). The heat really makes a difference too, in the hair drying straiter and shinier. I really don't think that roller setting works well as an air-drying style.

  • This roller set video is the best one out of the two you have made. Thanks for the videos....

  • You are GOOD! My arms get tired before I can finish rolling all of my hair! LOL

  • I could not see the name of lotion or jell. Can anyone tell me that?

  • @xinale It was Kera Care

  • Thank you for your videos....u have no idea how helpful they r!!!....cuanto tiempo te tomas para hacerte los rollers en realidas???

  • I did my first completed roller set yesterday!! yay me!! the problem i ran into was the frizz at my roots. i have about 3 to 4 inches of texlax hair and the rest is bone straight. i made sure each peice was nice and wet but it still frizzed up. so i have to flat iron the roots at the end. which im trying to avoid. wat am i doing wrong i wonder???(leave ins-aphogee,green tea reconstructor, kera care foam wrap, chi silk infusion)

  • @Ladeegrace Sounds like there wasn't enough tension at the roots and perhaps you needed to be under the dryer longer.

  • @Ladeegrace I had the same problem so the second time i done it my hair was flat ironed and i just wet the ends with a spray bottle worked out way better

  • @Ladeegrace I had the same problem so the second time i done it my hair was flat ironed and i just wet the ends with a spray bottle worked out way better and make sure theres lots of tension like she said

  • Hi! Thank you for the videos. I was just wondering how long it took you to do this, because it looks like you fast-forwarded.

When I rollersetted, it took me. 1.5 hrs to roll!! I had to stop. Now, I learned how to airdry. Thanks in advance!!

  • @inuyashalivesbaby I prefer to air dry too.....never been a fan of hooded dryers unless COMPLETELY necessary.

  • So what were all of the products you used before you set it? I know you said lotta body diluted, but do you think using it straight up will work too?

  • @AshleyNReed I only buy/use lottabody that is dilutable. The regular lottabody makes my hair sticky and heavy. The diutable kind (salons use) can be whatever consistency I want so it works for me. You can use any setting lotion you like when rollersetting.

  • u kinda look like beyonce to me

  • it amazes me how fast you can do this...

  • This was cute;)

  • I have long curly and frizzy Ethiopian hair. I never succeeded with roller setting on my own before until I watched your videos. Thanks for sharing your technics. You hair is beautiful and healthy looking!

  • you must be either a proffesional hairdresser or had a lot of practise as your sectioning and roller placement is not only very neat but you are very quick at your setting. Keep up the lovely work.

  • thanks for the video... girl you hands are FAST.... hopefully this will work for me tonight :)

  • How long under the hair dryer?

  • @FourEyedLadyOriginal Usually 45 minutes, a little longer with smaller rollers.

  • I love her videos, she is so real with it and her technique is amazing!!

  • Why do you roll the sides upward instead of downwards? Does it matter which way you roll it?

  • @Sexy4BPMT Upwards creates better tension at the root. This gets roots straighter if you are in the middle of a relaxer/texlax stretch.

  • Very helpful. Rolling the hair upwards is a brilliant idea. Thanks for sharing this video!

  • im gone roll my hair this way i like it

  • Perfect!!!

  • what do put in your hair before a roller set

  • @onlinebabeful Setting lotion and serum

  • @alraines WHAT IS THE PRODUCT NAME?

  • @onlinebabeful Setting lotion (diluted lottabody)

  • Hi, what kind of results do you get from rolling your hair up as opposed to rolling under? Do you think this technique would work on an ear length bob?

  • @TheHairJunkie - i rollerset my hair and when you roll hair up your roots tend to lay flatter

  • @TheHairJunkie Rolling the hair upwards helps to get the roots tight/taught. This helps when you are stretching your relaxer so that the roots are not as wavy.

  • pls order a SASSY WRAP! god bless!

  • where did you get those rollers and how do you maintain the curls at night?

  • @majenfo I got some from the local beauty supply and others from walgreens. I just have amassed a collection. You can keep up the curls by pincurling at night.

  • u go girl! i do my own roller sets but it takes me at leats a hour and 30/ that was excellent/ i never thought to roll each slice up instead of under like u did the back of the mohegean stripp and the sides/ im gonna start doing that i think it will be much quicker/ its hard roller under in the back exspecially with long hair/thanx u really taught me a new trick i will use

  • Where did u find a hairnet like that?

  • Wow you make a roller set so easy to , do I 've tried and tried, I cant see to do it right

  • You have beautiful hair !

What is your hair regime ?

  • will the lotta body damage my haircolor?

  • What products are you using to allow the comb to go so smoothly through your hair?

  • I detangled in the shower prior to rollersetting. I had deep conditioned with S2S conditioner.

  • i have trouble parting my hair. my roots are usually a bit nappy and curly so when i part them, they're not completely part and i end up taking more hair then i should.

  • How often should I wash my hair? Would you recommend twice a week or just once?

    Thanks :)

  • Its different for everyone. I wash my hair once or twice a week in winter and 3 times a week or even more in the summer. I have relatives that wash their hair every two weeks and still have long healthy hair.

  • hello,

i have a question, after washing can i apply my moisturizers leave ins and oils and then do a rollerset? or do i wait until its dry to apply my leave ins and oils?

  • You can put any of your products in before or after. It depends on what your finished style will be. For instance, some products weigh down the hair so if you put those products in the curls won't be light n bouncy. Its a trial an error kind of thing to see which products affect your hair.

  • Nice vid--Thanks for your help! Wellpp..let's see how mines turns out tonight!

  • I just love the style of your shows! Please, keep them coming!

  • I am so excited because I am about to go get that hair dryer from Sally's!!! I am tired of slouching on the floor just to sit under my other hood dryer...

  • Thank you for the nice video. But you did not show the result. I wanted to see the size of the curls. I want to make big bouncy curls.

  • She did. Check out the video that says Results of my rollerset and how I tie m hair up"

  • hey can u write the products that you used in the info box or on this comment please?!

  • DLovely138 : She listed the products that she used at the end of the videos. You didn't see it ?

  • i think i wrote it before got to the end lol oops disregard my first message! thanks for the list! lol im gonna try this.

  • Do u have any tips for the back cause whenever i get back there i can't get the clips in a place where they fit without cause another to come loose

  • She rolls up on the side because when she rolls up it allows her to get the kind of tension to pull her hair on the roller so that it's straight. Going down doesn't give the same kind of tension. Also, if you go up then you can clip the next magnetic roller just below it to the first one - which is easier than having to find the right place to position the metal clip.

  • why on the sides you roll going up? is there a particular reason?

  • Thanks for the nice vid! I will try this method soon:)

  • Thanks for posting this!

Question: I can't seem to pin my rollers tight. They always get loose and end up falling off. What are you pinning the roller to? How can I keep the roller tight?

  • This sounds wierd but you pin the hair to to root area. Keep the roller as taught as possible before pinning and make sure there is no slack between the roller and your head...Hope that makes sense.

  • i dnt have a perm will a roller set work on my hair my sister did it for mr 1 time it look ok at first but when i got outside my hair just turned into a hot mess and turned dry and nappy

  • It is diffiicult for a rollerset to last on untreated natural hair but with some time and practice with roller setting techniques it is possible. I know some ladies that who blow out their roots with a blowdryer and touch up the hair with a flat iron throughout the week.

  • wow. incredible.

  • Thanks for the video..

On your roller set the products that you use...

    Keri Kare Foam Wrap

    Lotta body diluted with water

    Chi Silk for shine...

    Is that right...in that order..

    Regards,

    Kimberly

  • Yes.

  • for you to have long hair and roll it so fast as i dont know what AND neat that was something else boy i wish mine would come out as gud and this is my second time seeing ppl roll upwards on the sides or most of the middle does it come out the same way well im gonna look at the results lol but i liked that video

  • hey mama will like to know what do you think about highlights on relax hair.

  • i got highlights but i need to wait a few months to relax it again

  • I'm sorry for the late response MsWindyF, YT doesn't always alert the new ?'s I get in comments!

I had blonde highlights for years and it just broke off my hair so badly. Then, like a fool, I had the nerve to dye the whole top of my head blonde..needless to say I learned my lesson. I refuse to dye or highlite again. I do think its possible but you have to take very good care of your highlighted hair. Good luck to you.

  • You girls in the US all seem to be using magnetic rollers. Are self-grip rollers bad for your hair?

Each time after a roller set, I notice that on many ends, the very tip looks oddly crooked and bent. I don't know how to describe it better.

So I was wondering if my self-grip rollers could be the cause.

  • I only use the magnetic rollers. You may try to use end papers to see if that helps take the odd bend out. There is nothing wrong with self grip rollers if used correctly. I like magnetic so there is a low chance of breakage.

  • are you doing your rollers over the top for the back of the mohawk..girl my hair is no where near the length of yours and i am still learning but that junk is hard to do

  • I roll the back rollers upwards just like the sides. It's great for lifting the roots and giving the hair body. Keep trying! Its hard to start off but it gets much easier.

  • My hair tangles when wet. What are using on your wet hair to make it easy to comb.

  • Just setting lotion (lottabody). Really it helps to properly condition before roller setting.

  • I probably missed this, but I couldn't see what you put on your hair at the begining. What was that product?

  • Diluted lottabody setting lotion a small bit of Kera care foam wrap setting lotion and a small bit of CHI silk infusion.

  • Conair Style Pro-Professional salon quality dryer. Got it from sally's.

  • What is the brand of hair dryer that you use and can you tell me where I can get one? Thanks

  • i tried roller setting my hair and it came out ok. My hair is extremely curly which makes it difficult to keep straight on a roller, but Ill keep practicing. My schedule isnt allowing me to time to go to a hair salon. Thanks!

  • I've been dying to learn how to roller set my hair...I guess practice, practice, pratice huh? I'll get it eventually LOL!

    Thank you for the tutorial

    XOXOXO

  • looks so easy lol

  • I would have loved to see how your hair came out...liked the tutorial

  • I have a video that shows the outcome.

  • Hi..I just want to know...what is the purpose of rolling upwards.

  • Tension on the roots helps to keep them straight and it gives you a straighter wrap whereas rolling downward gives you body in the roots. Also, rolling upwards is easier imho.

  • I tried to roller set my hair but I don't relax my hair or press it so it came out real thick.. Do you relax your hair? I haven't done that in years and really don't intend to but I usually press my hair but its been about 3 months.

  • I texlax my hair (check out my other vids). You may want to try pressing your hair and then doing a dry roller set or use hot rollers. Alternatively, check out my dominican blowout video to see how to take some of the thickness out of the roots.

  • It's Nice I Like It! But What Product Are You Using Exactly??

  • Diluted lottabody chi silk infusion and keracare foam wrap lotion

  • wuts the ratio when u dilute ur lottabody?

  • Depends on the hold you want. For me its 3 to 1. (3 parts water to 1 part Lottabody)

  • The girl got skills!!!!!

  • i just tried rollersetting and gave up. i ended up doing the cheat rollerset.

  • Are you still using the same items when roller setting your hair? I can't believe how much your hair has grown. It's July 2009 now.

  • Yes still using the chi silk infusion, lottabody diluted with water.

  • What are you applying to your hair before you roller set it?

  • Setting lotion, Lottabody.

  • I always roll the front pieces under, next time I set my hair I'm going to do it back like you did and see what happpens:)

  • You make it seem so easy.

  • It takes a lot of practice.

  • is it nessecary to have a net when you roller set your hair?

  • It isn't required but it helps keep the rollers in place. A net is recommended when using a salon quality hooded dryer so that frizzies don't get caught up in the vents and motor.

  • i liked your rollersetting.

Next time i would roll the curler in.

you looks very sexy in the rollers and hairnet.

  • Thanks for watching! I prefer rolling upwards because of the tension but to each his/her own.

  • i gota get some big hair rollers like that. im sure it wont take so long for my hair to dry

  • is your hair Relaxed?

  • Yes

  • what is that you are spraying on your ends -water?

  • Lottabody diluted with water.

  • this is so so good im gong to try it were do u get the roalers >?

  • Beauty supply stores for the most part. You can get an entire starter set at Walgreens for $12.99.

  • what do you do to make your hair grow? and is clipping your ends necessary to make hair grow?

  • Clipping your ends is not necessary to make your hair grow, that is a ol' wives tale. I took care of my hair for three years to help it grow. Please take a look at my hair videos and my FAQ's.

  • Wow! You're a pro. I cannot seem to get the hang of rollersetting. I can do the mohawk section but I have so much trouble with the sides. I bought macherieamour's dvd but this helped way more. I guess I have to keep practicing. How long did it take you to master rollersetting? Thanks again girl! You have no idea how much your videos help me.

  • Thanks for the compliment! It took me maybe a year of roller setting weekly before I got comfortable enough to do it with ease. Keep practicing and remember, your head shape and hair length have plenty to do with being able to roller set so take your time and experiment with different size rollers!

  • Where'd you get your rollers from?

  • Beauty supply stores for the most part. You can get an entire starter set at Walgreens for $12.99.

  • i just bought my set yesturday, n going to try them today...

  • baby, why do black women do all this stuff to their hair. i'm a white man who loves black women. keep it natural, keep it real. it's better that way, i love and adore you all, fat, thin, tall or small, you are all beautiful.

  • Our hair is not the same as yours. It's kinda like the way you wash your hair everyday to make it manageable. And by the way, white women do this to their hair too: they rollerset their hair, flat iron it, curl it, just like we do. They perm their hair. Constantly dye it blonde. So it's not a black thing only, it's a woman thing regardless of race.

  • tell em! :)

  • Thanks budgetqueenMD. Also, I'd like to point out that there are actually more videos on YT with white women in rollers than black women in rollers. Upkeep and maintenance is not just a black or white or purple or yellow thing, its a human thing. Just like men shave to look nice or get haircuts to look nice. If we all kept it "natural" men would be a hairy mess and women would not be very attractive at all. Do we really want to regress to the unibrow and the bearded lady?

  • yeah girl btw your hair looks bangin

  • Where exactly are u putting the clips so that it will stay in place and not fall down? How are you actually anchoring it to stay put? This is what I have a problem with when trying to use these rollers and clips.

  • I roll my hair upwards so the tension is on the top of the roller. Because I roll that way, I place the clip at the top of the roller and anchor to the hair closest to the scalp. It's hard to explain but you have to have enough tension to keep the roller steady, also if you by the wide alligator clips, you should be able to anchor rollers to each other.

  • Hi, just found your pg..Luvs it. I too have been roller setting my hair for yrs, but I'm newly 1yr natural and i find that it is a lot harder to do now that im natural with no chemicals in my hair. I find that i still have a lot of waves in my hair even after sitting under the hair dryer. Do you have any advice for me & what is the purpose for rolling the side parted hair upward toward the center part?

  • The reason I rollerset upwards is so that the weight of the roller creates tension on the roots keep them more straight. You will always have waves when roller setting because you are natural, you may want to try blowing out your roots after a rollerset to get your hair a little more straight.

  • Is that kera care product good? i have their setting lotion!!

  • I love Keracare! The only problem is that I have to go in the mall to get it and I never really go to the mall that often.

  • Do it to it Momma. I love your technique but more than that I love your peace sign at the end. Reminds me ....of ME!!!! Thank you

  • did u use lottabody? how do u like it?

  • how long have you been doin this, because you make it look so easy

  • I learned how to wet set a long time ago, but I have only been religiously doing them on myself for 3 years.

  • well that explains a lot...and how long does it normally take ur hair to dry?

  • 45 mins to an hour..depends on what size rollers I use...the smaller the rollers the longer it takes to dry.

  • What size rollers do you use?

  • What kind of perms do you use?!?

(I love ur vids this is the 2nd i watched

and i love it.You would see my vids if I

could only figure out how to get my computer to work correctly lol)

  • Please watch my hair regimen vid...Thanks!!

  • Girl your good. lol...
