@TheExbay Or maybe the Narns have some good electronic countermeasure tech, or maybe some kind of deflection...if its possible to bend light, and influence matter trough magnetism and so on, it is imaginable...what i dont understand tough, why does noboy in the B5 universe use matter/antimatter explosion tech? You could think of all kinds of nastyness (hyperspace mines, tons of nukes, so on), but nobody is doing it...altrough a really strict ban is not unreasonable...
@NightFlash24 That's a good point, I hadn't even considered that they might have something to ward off enemy fire with.
As for the matter/antimatter business, I'd say that most of the races have it to varying degrees. I agree totally that it would be outlawed to keep warfare at least a little constrained.
@Raguleader I got that impression too, up until I saw the Centauri use mass drivers on the Narn homeworld. At that point, when they're indiscriminately obliterating another race, I wouldn't put it very far past them to attack civilian transports that might actually have civilians on them as opposed to weapons.
@Razorwing67 depends, but id say a warship is more valuable than a bunch of civilians (material, trained crew, etc...) you can do more with a warship than with civilians, if they were all scientists maybe... from a ethical point of view its all very heroic but when dealing with such a severe situation one must keep emotions out of the equtions or you will easily loose the war. Try playing starcraft and beeing attached to every single unit :)
@rusalkin Been considering my response ..... It isn't about money or resources, it is about a blessed few who are willing to defend those who can't defend themselves. My guess is you are not prior service since you apparently do not understand this concept.
@williamskidfears I'm just saying, it struck me as something he might have fabricated to try and stir up support from the other races. He wouldn't exactly have been above it. Recall that he started the show as a minor villain.
@Raguleader It's possible but given how militant the Centauri under Emperor Cartagia and his backer Lord Refa were acting, I'm of the opinion that it's likely real. The Centauri bombing of the Narn Homeworld later on backs up this video's credibility.
@Raguleader Even if this was Narn propaganda, the Bombing of the Narn Homeworld with Mass Drivers by the Centauri cannot be construed as Propaganda. It was blatantly obvious, even the Vorlons filed official protests, and it takes a lot for the Vorlons to say anything in the B5 uniververse, as any good B5 fan will say. And u can count me among the B5 faithful.
@species6339 Did anyone say that bit was propoganda? I'm just saying, this scene, particularly just the mildly stilted dialogue, made me think this was faked for political reasons.
The big question I have, is if it's authentic, someone would have had to recover the camera footage from the Narn warship after the Centauri had evidently run them out of the system.
@kristheobserver Well, just because it's G'Kar. It's easy to forget that at the start of the show, he was this close to being one of the villains. It's only through gradual character development that he became the incorruptable good guy that he was by the end. I figure some of his bad habits may have been slow in dying, particularly if the survival of his people were at stake.
I don't think I remember the episode - Narns are with honor Civilians especially women are children are the most important to Sacrifice one's self for. However most of the nations today allow they females and children to be murdered without lifting a finger - it was either Algeria or Albania where the miltary allowed a who levillage to be brutally slaughtered - the miltary were less then a mile away and done nothing.
@Zorolord This is why the second amendment to the Constitution is so important. When the government sacrifices it's population for the sake of itself, the population must protect themselves.GUN UP!
@michaelhviper Yeah, it was. They made a noble sacrifice to protect their own civilians from being murdered by the Centari. Seeing those Centari ships go after a civilian transport like that builds up the Centari as being evil looking while seeing the Narn ship sacrifice itself to save the transport makes the Narns look noble. Of course, that's likely what the writers were going for.....
@girlgarde Don't forget, in Season 1 it was the Narns who were the aggressors. That was until the Massacre at Quadrant 37 by the shadows at Londo Mollari's request. Then after that, the Narn suffered the Wrath of the Shadows at Quadrant 14 and the Battle of Gorash 7, both orchestrated by Londo Mollari again. Thus causing the Narn to lose the war only after 6 months and become an occupied territory for a 2nd time by the Centauri.
@species6339 Oh I haven't forgotten what the Narns did in Season 1, I'm merely stating that the writers who originally made the Reptilian Narns look bad in season 1 by picking on the flawed but human looking Centari for past crimes changed gears in season 2 by switching their roles around and showing examples of Narns doing heroic deeds while showing the Centari's dark side. Overall, both races acted harshly towards each other but the writers ended up making the Narns look good.
@girlgarde Only because the Centauri were winning. Both races would become attacker and victim through all 5 seasons; you see the bleakness of the Centauri near the end after their home planet gets bombarded too.
@Taospark Yeah, that WAS sad seeing the Centauri subverted by the Drakh in season 5. While I'm unhappy with the Narns helping the Drazi bombard Centauri Prime, I understand why they did it given all that's happened between their two races.
As for the Drazi, it helped me gain a low opinion of them which had built up steadily throughout Season 5. They're just mad that the Centauri were keeping them back by existing and because they kicked the crap out of the Drazi in Season 3!
@girlgarde I had a low opinion of the damn Drazi from season 2 onwards. They're greedy, selfish, treacherous, belligerent bastards, and that's their good point.
@williamskidfears Yeah, the Drazi DID act up quite a bit during the Shadow War and were majorly unreasonable throughout the series. Also, early in season 5, it was revealed that the Drazi were using raiders to beat down border worlds so they wouldn't be a threat to them! I'm surprised that this wasn't pointed out by anyone for the rest of the season to use against them!
Overall, I detest the Drazi, they're probably related to the Drakh and in league with them, I'm sure of it!
@williamskidfears Yeah, the Drakh probably see the Drazi as gullible pawns to be used to stir up crap and destablize the Interstellar Alliance just like in 2262 in the Centauri-ISA war.
Which season ?

well the narns still had better looking ships than the humans.

I like how the big, bad Narn battleship lasts all of about 15 seconds once the two other ships draw a bead on it.
I bet the crew died cursing the "Made with pride on Narn" labels on their crappy equipment.

while heroic, a warship is worth more than 700 lives

@rusalkin and the point of the warship in the first place would be what exactly ??? I thought it was to defend the civilian population.

You don't? They're the villains.

It matters to them more than their lives.
