Rogues can actually get pretty good at hand to hand. I don't know what level you're at now, but if you search around the compedium, you can set up your enchantments so that when you get up to level 6, you can get the Assassin I prestige enchantment which gives you some bonuses to sneak attacks.
If you're talking about latency then it's got to do with your internet connection. If you have torrents running in the background that will slow you down.
If you're talking about chop or low FPS then you might need to upgrade your hardware.
I didn't download anything special, I just run the game.
Try getting rid of anything running in the background, and setting the priority to high in the task manager.

You're right. I don't typically like to wait 'cause I figure I'd just be struck down again. Though I think that mechanic would be hugely useful in party play.
The next feat I take will be Weapon Finesse (use DEX instead of STR for attack roles), but in the mean time I have pick my fights carefully and use my Sneak Attack efficiently.
Ya you cant sneak past spiders EVER. Its impossible :P

Yeah, rogues can get really good dps.. My assassin build often get more kills than the tanks in the party :)
