  • "what i miss, she will carry"

  • ENVOUTANT, AERIEN ,PUR I ENJOY THAT

  • I love that lyric "doesn't every boy smoke to cry..."

  • I'm speechless.

  • The meaning of the song is multi-faceted, including how much responsibility a new mother has towards her child. I use the term, "collage of emotions", to refer it refers to the complexity of Tori's music. The "doesn't every woman want it all", "... smoke to cry?" are kind of rhetorical questions, asking of the universe. It points to the way women and men deal with their emotions. I love Tori's music and that it can be challenging at times. Thanks for your feedback to my original comment.

  • C'est la qu'on se sent seul lorsque l'on l'est ... Dorénavrant , je ne vivrai qu' à traverst , par toi , pour toi .

  • NiceSong and i should have find it earlier but i can still make the most of it. if not for my sister then for my neice.

    More power from tori

  • i just love this... and i love to play this...

    thanks!!

    tori is incredible<3

  • Yes. Tori has dozens of absolutely incredible, magical songs. And this is definitely one of her best beside so many others. :D The melody is complex and simple at the same time and so perfect, deep and mysterious. Makes you dream of wonderful things.

  • Thanks much for posting this. This is one of Tori's most beautiful songs. It can be found on the Extras section of "Welcome to Sunny Florida". I somehow know what she is saying, even though it is a collage of emotions swirling in the lovely melody, including the questions, "As a man, don't you find, doesn't every boy smoke to cry?" and "Doesn't every woman want it all?". It makes such sense.

  • @iadorenewyork - this song is literally about pregnancy and the things that we pass on to our children if we don't figure out how to fix our own faults. this is hardly a "collage of emotions" song. none of her songs are. do continue to dig deeper for meaning; it's one of the most fun things about her.

  • Jesus, I have never heard this song before and I definately adore it already.

  • Oh yes!

  • This song is simply amazing.

  • I really think Scarlet Era was her golden Era. From musically to feeling's expression she discover the way. I love the theme and plus the Hidden Treasures, Seaside's my favorite :)

  • I agree with you on this! But my all time favorite song has to be Indian Summer. That song is just musical perfection & I LOVE it.

  • I've been listening to Tori for almost 15 years, and I had never heard this until now. Brought me to tears, so beautiful.

  • This song allows me to view myself.

  • And for someone who's been listening to her for 14 years, I still find new songs poppin up and wonder how come I don't have all of her music. I'm sure there's loads more to be discovered! Virginia's another one of those beautiful songs!

  • I agree with you there. I have also been listening to her for years. I love her :)

  • this is one of her songs that at first doesn't have a huge impression. I always listen to her albums on shuffle coz I love all of em. Then when i'm not listening I'll find myself humming a song and so grap my MP3 and frantically search for the tune in my head, and find this one, and it becomes my new favourite Tori song. I love that about her music. It never grows old.

  • Oh yes, this is a song which enfolds after time. At first I found it just OK but then this magical melody got me more and more and now it is one of my favourites.

Hm, her latest album wasn't that good I think but a fan should have all of her other albums. :) And the "Welcome to sunny florida"-DVD where this song is on a extra disc is really great.

  • The unfolding of a song is such a altering ex[erience. I have to disagree; American Doll Posse was an complex, and its concepts are working with stereotypes in a postmodernist way. I think there was a complex mysticism connecting the music, and it is interesting to note that NIN Year Zero came out in 07 as well and deals with similar themes. Listen to Smokey Joe, Girl Gisappearing, Father's Son, etc. It is mellifluous.

  • this is so beautiful

  • She Cant Do Anything wrong!!Stop By LoveD1325 we have fun!!!!!!!Great page!!!

  • wow I love this song... Tori's voices caresses me. I had the Scarlet's Walk CD but I could never discover the keys (I did not have Internet then) I only got Mountain, a song I deeply love... now Ruby Through The Looking-Glass is one of my favourites.

By the way, does someone have a live performance of Mountain?

  • I didn't even know one could discover secret songs with the "Scarlet's Walk"-CD. :( Or maybe it was different in Europe. Or do you mean "Scarlet's Hidden Treasures"?

  • uhhmm, yes, sorry, I was confused, there were hidden tresasures. By the way, do you have that song? I want it so bad

  • Just search for "Tori Amos" and "Mountain" on youtube. There is the studio version and some live versions. :) I didn't know the song before but immediately liked it.

  • great!! thank u very much!! and how can i find ruby??

  • Ahm... is this a joke? :D You already found ruby, otherwise you wouldn't be here. ;) And when you search for "Tori Amos" and "ruby" you will find live versions of this song too. Enjoy!

  • Thank you... It really is such a beautiful song.. Much Love

  • Oh yes, faerie. The whole "scarlet's hidden treasures" is great. :) Much love back

  • We people have NO ideea how fortunate we are to live in the same world with Tori especially at the same time

I first heard this song about a year ago... but I got a hold of it only almost 3 months ago when I knew that I finally have the song and I can listen to it nonstop for 6-7 days(as I did) I started shaking really bad for an hour and a half; I was as happy as it gets but soon started worrying about the shaking... my hands went numb in about 10 min...

  • ...I couldn't feel the keyboard with my fingers... I think all the hormones released by the brain flooded my body...

that's how much I love Tori, her music, and music in general...

thank you full of genius Tori for existing... and thank you LizardWizard7 for posting this video... long live Tori Amos one of the sweetest and most beautiful creatures EVER

  • That's great how there are toriphiles all over the world. :) I love many kinds of music too and heavy rocking stuff as well mostly by creative men. ;) But she surpasses them all. :) Nothing touches me so deeply as Tori. Wonderfully flowing female energy. She's such a genius and creates so intelligent, touching, adorable, magical music. Just watch how the piano seems to be a part of her body and her soul, of course. Her music gave me guidance when I was a teenager. :) She's truly a goddess. :)

  • I agree with you... in my case music is my religion and Tori is my goddess... before Tori I was deaf, blind... you name it... I had NO ideea how to "feel" music...

and I also love a lot of artists/bands, from heavy rock to the sweetest most kind and warm stuff... and to be honest I could NEVER make a top; as Tori says she couldn't place one of her "girls"(songs) above another because the rest would get jealous... that's exactly how I feel about music in general...

  • Exactly how I feel. Tori just pours out cups of sparkling genius from her fountain, one after the other, and each one just keeps on getting better and better. What you may think is your favorite song one day is replaced by a new find the next. It's what makes Tori one of my favorite artists.

  • That's totally how I feel, I mean I'l always have my faves such as Spacedog and Sugar, i prefer songs with lots of bass and love Matt Chamberlin's drumming, and when she really lets her voice take her where it will, i find extremely moving . but then songs like this pop up outta somewhere n, like you said, become my new fave song!
