  • Best 101 I've seen <3

  • ur oven seems like a piece of shieettt :P

  • Canabis butter?

  • although you're kind of scary thank for the good video

  • i made this and it was my first loaf of bread...it wasn't very pretty, but it sure was delicious...it was really huge because i let it rise for like 3 hours :D

  • i remember when i made my first loaf of bread, when i ate it, it tasted so good, better than buying at the store : D

  • that was funny, when the dough was spoze to go in the oven,... ha aha ahaha ,, funnneeeee. i think i'll try this recipe... never made bread before.

  • i knew i loved you within the first 30 seconds XD

    great vid~~

  • Thumbs up for the Bob Wills.

  • OH MY GOD GUILE'S THEME GOES WITH THIS TOO

  • my first bread.... it still in the oven..... n the smell is fantastic.. :)

  • you are to funny, i really enjoyed this video

  • You rule, and Owen's place does too. Three thumbs up!

  • @gogogodancer Cool. I have a hunch you and Owen would get along pretty good too.

  • I tried this today and got so upset it caused me stress which I cannot have, I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong the bread would not rise. Maybe I did not use enough brewers yeast.

  • @ItsMsMargie You need to use bread yeast instead of brewer's yeast.

  • @daevczen I dont know about that. I made some bread with the yeast from the bottom of a Chimay bottle (red one) .. pretty darn good... I also used an eighth cup honey and eighth cup molasses with a half cup raw sugar... (750 grams flour) with hazelnuts, apricots, walnuts, raisins... what have you... basically, your hangover morning bread... (well toasted) Hope my half recipe works out for you all... (I recently bought a wooden spoon and plan to send it to Owen.. wth no wooden spoon Owen?)

  • @gogogodancer Ahh. You meant yeast. Well, sure, why not. Sounds dee-lish. Nonetheless, I wouldn't throw too many variables at someone who'd never tried baking before. No need to cause them stress that they cannot have ;-)

  • I love this video and the bread looks so good.I WANT THE BREAD NOW!!!!!!

  • at first its like oh-oh who is this weird guy? but then its like he might know something, and just a little bit later its like he is kind of charming, and at the end its I LIKE THIS GUY:)

  • how much is a doodileedoo of oil?

  • @poofyhamsters Just start pouring and say, "one doodileedoo, two doodileedoo."

  • @daevczen thanks :) I'll try it out soon.

  • I'll be adding in a generous amount of Cannabis butter, but will the THC burn off over 300 degrees? Thanks for the quality video man. Professionalism can suck it. You're keeping it real, that's what it's all about. Cheers :)

  • Ta kruh nima nobene mascobe ne olje,ne masti,ne putra....ce bi dal eno salco crne moke namesto vso belo,,bi bil boljsi,,,enostavo za specit....hitro narejeno....

  • Well I say, never knew you could make bread out of scratch. Did anyone see the scratch because I didn't... Can't imagine it would taste too good though, being made of scratch and all :D.

  • I'm making this right now. I hope it turns out good.

  • The interesting thing about this video is that besides the reference to YouTube, it could have been made any time in the past forty years.

  • The music and this guy makes this video seem creepy. Sort of like a serial killer home made video.

  • @shortfatandcrass You should see my video on how to sew a beautiful prom dress out of human skin.

  • @daevczen LOL Perfect response! HAHA

  • @daevczen brilliant replay xD, loved the vid thanx for sharing.

  • @shortfatandcrass it puts the dough in the oven it does what its told.

  • I am so baked...

  • I am so baked...

  • good job

     thanks for making this video

  • Great video. Thanks. :)

  • how can you get rid the smell of the yeast? when i finished baking it it smells like yeast still good though..hehe

  • what was going on at 4:12 to 4:40

  • @chelsiepk As it wasn't my kitchen, I wasn't familiar with Owen's gas oven. He warned me that the flame sometimes goes out. I thought it had, but it turns out it hadn't. Then I realized the pan was too big for the oven. Owen suggested I use "the other one" which was in that little metal drawer that some ovens have. I grabbed the pan with my bare hand, and then dropped it on the floor because it was extremely hot. We had a laugh.

  • slightly lol

  • I love the way you just seemed to put things together without much thought or care. Wish I could cook like that..... okay... I CAN cook like that. It just doesn't turn out well when I do.

  • You are ADORABLE

  • @purplestarr88 I'm not sure if he's that good or it was just dumb luck that his bread turned only slightly burned!

  • what a fun video. you should have your own cooking show. you're funny. and i am going to try this recipe.

  • i think i might try the cannabis butter

  • Where do I buy the sctatch?

  • @gor069 any store can hook you up. They keep it behind the counter. Sometimes they call it "zilch" though.

  • It's some kind of universal ingredient right?

  • @gor069 you buy scratch at the grocery store it's right there on the flour isle!

  • This is more entertaining and real than most of the TV cookery programmes.

    Superb video!

  • lol "that's clean enough" right on!

  • Thanks sweetheart.

For the record, that was never the attitude in any of the various kitchens I worked in when I was younger. But in my private kitchen, I've adopted a motto from Madame Childs: Who's to know?

  • @EllieBellyNet we need to get these guys on Food Network!

  • Thanx for the video, I tried recipes that claim to be simpler and faster, all I got was cooked paste. I agree with Brandon, this one gives the best result and super simple....again, Thanx!

  • this is very entertaining....My mom is trying to make this as we speak and she is saying everything that he says at the same time as him...(even trying to use the same voice...haha) Idk how it turns out but I love to watch them work together...

  • lol you had to try putting the dough in the oven like three times

  • Thoroughly enjoyed watching your clip. very entertaining. Well done.

  • Thank ye kindly.

  • looks cakey

  • @peterm3964

If you think about it, though, bread is just a cake of a different sort. :)

  • No, he is right. I should have let it rise a bit longer, or used a bit less salt.

  • kinda of reminds me the hobbits in LoR. But the cool music . Nice dude.

  • lol was a very entertaining video =] thanks for sharing!

  • Don't you know to make it from scratch you have to invent the universe first?

  • Now, that was funny. Ha!

  • @neoalec Thanks Carl Sagan :P

  • @jonathanwball hahahahaha

  • @neoalec indeed!

  • Really enjoyed this; thanks for the tips guys :) Lisa

  • cannabis butter, nice.

  • really help full thank you :)

  • This was awesome! Never knew baking bread could be so funny! Great job dude! And many thanks for posting it for kitchen klutzes like me!

  • awesome, thanks for posting this up. I've read up on bread baking, but I ne'er watched someone do it - watching your video helps me remember a lot more than reading the steps somehwere... going to try this out, with some additional grains. hehe, I like the reference to the "budder"... peace.

  • thats not from scratch... u have to make your own flour and how do ya make yeast...?

  • Real funny, pal. Why don't you just go stick a flower in your lapel and squirt water?

  • Comment removed

  • Yeast is a fungus.

But actually anyone can cultivate yeast, which is how they make sourdough bread.

  • Great video and funny as well. I made my first load ever today. It came out really well and I'm chuffed about that. It went very well with my jam that I made a few days ago.... that was a first as well.

btw the Young Ones is pure class! Check out the follow up series that Rick Mayal and Adrian Edmondson made..... it's called 'Bottom' and is super crazy!!!!! Enjoy.

  • *That's loaf not load!!!!

  • It's weird I typed this in. I'm not planning on baking I just wanted to see how to do it. That was...quite amusing (:

  • hey mind if I post a video response showing my bread?

  • By all means, please do!

  • Thanks man Ive used this recipe like 400 times,:P I just made a loaf :) thanks aloottt for the upload you got me into bread baking.

  • please make more cooking videos....you are super entertaining and educational...and i love the music too :)

  • hahaha... this video was funny. you remind me of Flanders from the Simpsons

  • Okilidokilido?

  • I love the music.

  • wow I really enjoyed watching that... you should have a series of baking videos. nice job.

  • Nice, i am also baking right now. Thanks for the vid.

  • will u B me wife?

  • This guy is HILARIOUS lol

  • Aloha! Here in Hawaii, the song is the Hawaiian War Chant!

  • Ha. Thanks

  • You are knighted!

  • sounds cool! the idea of showing up unexpected with all the ingredients at a friend's house and baking bread there. ;)

    cute :)

  • GREAT vid! i followed ur recipe/techniques and such. the best comment i got from making my bread was, "u should open a bakery".... haha...yeah right, anyways, HA! ur complaining about that small oven?! try baking bread in a tiny TOASTER oven like i did... haha, it wasn't that bad actually. my loaves were just smaller... actually kinda cute. 2 cute 2 eat =)

  • Thank you very much for making this. It was amazing. We've been trying to make bread here and this really helped with a few steps we just weren't doing right. It's also very well put together. All around awesome. XD

  • i tried baking bread once and I have to say yours tunred a shit lot better than mine. this video is really helpful and quite pleasant to watch! Muchas gracias! :)

  • OK this is like totally the most dynamic video production I've seen in a long time. It's decidedly narrative and yet amorphous. i bake bread all the time, and I think this is the utmost in simple tutorials on bread-making aver.

  • I bought a brick of frozen yeast at my local supermarket, and have been unthawing it as needed whenever I'm about to bake a loaf. Is it OK to keep doing this with the yeast - thawing then re-freezing it? Have I killed the poor yeast altogether by doing this? My bread comes out OK, but doesn't double in size when rising, and while it's tasty, it's not light and airy. I don't like using dried yeast in packets and I haven't been able to find a baker who'll sell me fresh (not frozen) yeast. HELP!

  • your house looks vintage, i love it god bless you

  • Regular flour works just fine. Bread (called type 550 or sometimes just type 55) flour is recommended though.

A dough sponge is just the hot water, sugar, yeast, and a little flour. It's a way to see quickly if your yeast is alive because after 5 or so minutes it should get all foamy --hence sponge.

  • VERY COOL- do you use regular flour, or is it some sort of "special" flour??

Also- what is a "Dough Sponge."

    Thank you!!

  • TOTALLY sexy... a guy who knows his way around the kitchen! Yum. Yeah... voice was awesome lol.

  • I love your precision of measurements!!! lol

  • weird, my dough didn't rise at all (and it was bout 77 degrees in the house) and I had it sit for about 3 hours. And the bread was all condensed and not fluffy at all. This WAS my first attempt at this, but I wonder what I did wrong...

  • Most likely, your yeast was too old. Did you do the dough sponge and did it rise?

Another possibility was that the water was too hot.

    Did you remember the sugar?

  • Everyone I told asked if the yeast was too old, but truth is I bought it the day before I made it, expiration: September 2010 lol.

I did the dough sponge, and it did rise a little.....I think it did, not as much as I thought it would. And I did include the sugar.

Perhaps the water was too hot. I used the stove to heat it and while I didn't let it boil, but I did get it to a simmering point.

  • Ahh, there you go. I don't know the exact number of degrees is too hot for yeast, but they say it should't be too hot for your hands.

The dough sponge should have tipped you off that something was amiss: if after even 20 minutes it isn't all nice and foamy, like the head on a beer, best start again.

  • Just test the water temp as you would baby formula; on the inside of your arm!

  • 105-115 temp for the water, just 1/2 cup. let the yeast disolve and then add the rest of the water

  • lmao his voice =D

  • i concur. sounds like my ex

  • Very entertaining video! your enthusiasm shows through. Trial and error is a big part of cooking, and I like that you show how to learn from one's mistakes.

  • I've been baking my own bread for about a year now and i still get a thrill when i open the oven and get that first waft of fresh baked bread mmmmmm gooood .i like the vid i used to activate the yeast in warm water but then i heared somwere modern yeasts don't realy need it so now i just put all the dry stuff together stir it . then ad the warm water slowly until the doe forms lovely. great vid

  • What´s the name of the singer of music in background? I loved it!!!!

  • Lol you have a tiny oven like I do. I hate those things soo much. x3

  • I love this video!!!!

    good work...

  • what kind of oil?

  • I loved this video, and the gent directing us is a great speaker!

  • Great video.

I had a oven like that in my first apartment. Damn... I couldn't cook anything. Temperature monitoring was a total crap shot.

Enriched bleached white flour is so bad for you. Make your own flour from wheat berries and you'll have about 20 times more nutrients. You can actually make 1 cup of flour in a coffee grinder in about 20 minutes. Just keep sifting it and grinding it.

  • Canabis Butter!?!?!?!?

  • Thanks for the video, I came upon it when I was finding out how the Ancient Mesopatamians made bread.

  • this helped me a lot thanks a millon

  • first time I've ever posted a comment. . . I wish all how to videos were this inviting and low key. I think your video was perfect. The text, the music, the info, the vibe. . .and the young ones, perfection. Today I'm not just going to look at how to vids I'm actually going to go try an make some bread for the first time. Thanks Again.

  • Thanks a lot and good luck. Don't get discouraged if it doesn't turn out great the first time or so. The whole thing about cooking without measuring is the more you do it, the better it gets.

  • Loved it. 2 thumbs up.

  • perfect recipe thanks alot man, great perfect 5* subscribe

  • I could not stop watching this video. Everything about it was perfect..well except for the stove going out...oh and the burnt bread at the end...oh and the not washing the bowl...but nevermind that...its what made it perfect...PLEASE make another one.....with the music as well. Thanks!!!

  • That has to be about one of the nicest comments I've ever gotten on YT. Thanks.

  • YOU DESERVE IT! CANABIS BUTTER AHAHAH i love your voice

  • I agree plaease make another one!! its amazing, and honestly the best how to video on YouTube

  • great stuff, fun music...!

  • I wish I lived in Germany and baked bread at friend's houses. This looks like fun!

  • love this video this is how baking really goes ..not picture perfect love the guy too very cute and watch-able!

  • thanx for tha advice i wanted to make bread

    but didnt know how so

    thnx again

  • thanks for the suggestion, i havent even tried since the other day.. i baked chocolate cookies for 4th of july, but no bread.. i love to make tortillas so you'd think bread would come naturally ( :

  • i love this guy!!! i have so far thrown out to doughs that never rose!! so hopefully this will help.. or i just suck at baking bread!( :

  • That's where the dough sponge comes in so handy--if it hasn't risen in, say 20 minutes, the yeast is probably expired and it's time to buy some more. I understand it is possible to invigorate bum dough by kneading in another solution of yeast, but I've never tried it. But, chapatis are yummy too, teehee!

  • I love this guy too! Isn't he great???

It's like one non-stop laugh-a-thon in real life!!!

-ron7006 (builder of the Rabbit Skywalk)

  • Awesome music-throughout!

  • just said .... O'WOOOOOOOOW

  • i wish i were you. =)

  • BRILLIANT Video! Excellent. I tried to give it six stars, but limited me to only five. : (

  • "were going to live adventurously and say screw it" lol cool video

  • This is great! Informational, easy to follow and genial editing!

  • canabis butter?

  • Ha! Good eye.

  • great video!

  • What song is that?

  • I'm learning how to bake bread and this was the most fun vid on youtube on the subject. Thanks guys.

  • What happened to the 2nd proofing?

Bread is always better when you let it raise twice.

  • Thanks! I wanted to bake some bread from scratch and this video was helpful and I must say rather fun too. Nice job. The only thing I would add is to include the comments from the video in the Description... um just so I can see them at a glace. Even so, that was great. Thanks!

  • cute video :) anyone tried it yet, im going too - im terrible at baking ! xx

  • Great attitude, but much too much salt for so little bread.

  • Thanks. Actually, I didn't use nearly as much salt as it looks on the vid. Still, a bit more than recipes usually call for.

  • I enjoyed wathing this :)

You should make a TV show

  • Yeeah, you should make a TV show. :D

  • Hi and thanks for the great tutorial. Could you tell us what editing software you use?

    Thanks!

  • Premiere Pro.

  • im trying to make this bread =\ not turning out so well... 1/2 cup water wasnt enough than i let the yeast mix sit 20 min and 1 cup of flour was enough ... is this right ???

  • I would say 3/4 cup of hot water, but I usually just measure about a coffee mug of water and keep adding the flour until it reaches the right consistency to start kneading. You don't have to proof the dough at the beginning if you don't want to, it just helps to let you know if your yeast is still alive.

  • CUTE VIDEO cute music! i like that kitchen lol so cute!

  • I've had problems with the right time to start kneading with the hands. every time it makes contact with my counter it decides to start sticking to anything and everything. Should I "pam" the counter a little?

  • Put a little flour on the table and on your hands first. If it's too sticky to handle at that point, you can still "fold" flour into the dough until it is kneadable. I think it's probably better to start with dough that is a tad too sticky than dough that has too much flour at the beginning, as you can always add flour.

  • Very nice video!

    :]

  • kinda reminded me of alton brown on food network.

  • PS love the music.

  • Excellent video, witty, dry and informative at the same time. Plus, I'm gonna give it a go!

  • Imagine what you could do in a real kitchen. nice clip.

  • It looks so easy but it's so hard!

  • Damn.....looks way too easy!

    Thanks

  • Thanks for making this video! I just made my first loaf of bread since, I don't know, age ten. You inspired me by making it look easy!

  • i like the video...now i have the confidence to bake...u encourage me...thanks

  • Really loved the video.

    It was informative and funny.

I liked how you guys did it in a regular kitchen in a regular house. Thanks!
