thanks for sharing this song my big sister would get ready while listening to this, can still see those red can can she wore to make her skirt stand out lol
This song brings back so many good memories, didn't have much but we had good music, cn still hear my mom n dad singing to each other. thank you for keeping it alive, something bout his voice that touches the soul, also like C.C. Rider by him. Thanks again
I've always loved Chuck Willis and especially What Am I Living For. I have his albums and play them often. I wish I could have heard him sing this song in person. The first time I heard this record was on a jukebox with a great bass and it sounded amazing. There will never be another Chuck Willis. I live in Georgia not to far from where Chuck passed away.
What a shame he didn't live much longer after this record was cut. But at least he went out in his prime. He never hung up his rock & roll shoes and went the pop route like many of his contemporaries. What a great voice and style Chuck Willis had. Never to be duplicated.
What a shame this guy, didn't live longer. He was just beginning to really take off.Had real potentual. love this song best of all his music, along with his love me cherry.
I was a child growing up in the fifties and had a brother 13 years older than me and he played R&B songs of the fifties around the house all the time and it has given me a great love of and appreciation for this music. Like my brother this music is a cherished memory and Chuck Willis was always our favorite. Everytime now I play these old R&B's songs I think of him and he comes alive to me once again, young, laughing, dancing and happy.
One of my favorites from my High School years (1956-1959). Most of us are now in, over or just below 70 years old and the number of folks around who remember this great music get smaller each day. Please explore the great R&B songs of the 1950's and be surprised.
@rnoches the music is very much alive, respected, and cherished by the youth today. tons of underground artists sample these classics all the time, which usually brings us on the internet searching for the real thing.
@rnoches thank god for you tube, sirius , xm , the internet. you can't listen to this music on commercial radio anymore. i sit for at least an hour every nite and listen to "my music" as my kids put it.

Everyone seems to think their generation had/has the best music. This is a big vote for my generation (born 1947).

@rnoches I remember this song very well. I was in high school from (1952-1956) too bad we don't have music today like we had back then.
