  • if the place the sprit in the sky is in has a dress code think they will let this guy in?

  • Fucking Christians, ban em and evolve.

  • The singer is a Satanist. Complete blasphemy this song is.

  • yo creci en los ochentas y creo que no hay mejor y musica y mejores grupos

  • q wena rola

  • THIS IS SUCH A 60S 70S THROW BACK VIDEO LOL

  • @DRAGON0010000 Blocking someone is the Internet equivalent to running away from someone in real life.

  • @niggalessCage2 oh so now ya wanna play follow the leader alrighty then let see how long you can keep up now boy

  • Oh my god!. Brings back so many memories!.

  • love this song!!! 80's music was the best!!! really needs to make a come back. NOW!!!!!! todays music for the most part sucks.

  • It looks like he is already dead.

  • Better music than that anti-christ Marilyn Manson..

  • @brian1963110 i would go so far as to call manson the anti christ but his music and style are much darker than the stuff you saw back in the day. what killed music in the modern times for me was all the drugs and violence that rap expresses. i listen to bands like rob zombie, and ramstein, as well as stuff like the classic 80s and find that the music is a little harsher than the stuff back then but no where near as bad as snoop dog or 2pacs music.

  • @silverblade2006 I see where you are coming from...I like Ramstein, although I don't understand German..love their style of music..as for manson, I just don't like him he gives me the jitters believing me he is satan. just the way he sings.

  • Where's Norman?

  • Bota tosco aquelas loca dançando suhahusuhasa...!!!!!

  • i was born in the 80s lived through some of the greatest rock music ever and im happy to say alot of it is coming back in style. i actually heard alot of 80s retro on radios lately.

  • This sounds good yes, but everything in the video goes against the meaning of the song. One thumb down, the other up the producers azz, worship the devil by yourself.

  • @theelfthatsings look this is a 80s music video the whole 80s thing was all about dual meanings, rebelling against the machine, and shock factor. look at how alot of the bands of the 80s busted down so many taboos that it isnt even countable. just like the 60s was a revolution so were the 80s in a sense. we saw bands come and go and others that have stayed far longer than they should have but it was ALL good music.

  • @silverblade2006 Agreed: the Big 80's was a hit. Videos both made & killed the music. MTV vs "Video killed the Radio star." Both are valid. Since the 80's: pop top 40 has altogether been destroyed. What a shame.

  • @theelfthatsings lol tru dat.

  • i love how this dude lip-syncs......very funny how he moves his mouth

  • British Bands are the best in the world

  • this song is just perfect, lyrics and music - wise

  • i want my hair like that

  • this is a lasting reminder of this song and every song and artist in the world the good songs will rise to the top never forgoten it will be around when this generation isdead gone. to be reproduced over and over in never ending play lists , our right to listen.and view can not be blocked .this is a" history of "everthing you tube that is after all you are only media.

  • You're right...60's-70's. Very trippy

  • this solo is too sick!!

  • awsome song... i love it...

the man looks funny... but cool...

  • Fantastic legendary song !!!!!!

Thankyou for posting this one ( Im showing my age here ) .

This was a great pickup song of the 60's.

  • THE BEST MUSIC OF THE 80'S

  • PUMP THE VOLUME UP!! GREAT SONG!

  • Good Lord. He is like a Dr. Seuss character!

  • going to see these guys live in may at bearded theory in derbyshire, awesome

  • Wish I could be there.....and I'm closing in on 58!!!

  • when he dies it will probably be from his head collapsing under the weight of his hair.

  • @StrawB0ss oh my god thqat is so funny

  • Awesome!!! Thank you!! Great rock 'n roll song!! Love this version -- adds a little gospel sound in the background!

  • It was originally done in 69/70 by Norman Greenbaum. This is a cover done in the 80's with retro style.

  • AWESOME! Back ground 8D

  • crazy make up. the two chics dancin are hot in person though. i cant stop lookin at the make up im trippin!!!!!

  • I love this song and much prefer it to the original. For some reason this came up while I was searching for Pans People performances.

  • Oh. look. It's Boy George's brother.

  • He's climbing the building..............HE'S CLIMBING THE BUILDING!!

  • I do like this cover. But this is kind of mocking, isn't it?

  • Absolutely mocking - thats the whole point... down to the faux hippie chicks gone goth.

  • Yeah, but that's not what I meant...

I meant mocking of the religion.

  • I played the original for a "born-again" Christian and he was all pissed off. I still don't know why. Mocking religion? I don't think so.

  • Freemasonic conditional programing bullshit.

  • Frank Zappa produced the original Norman Greenbaum version...

  • The singer seems like hes a tall one cuz when he steped over the box thingy around the end it makes look tall.

  • my favorite genre, a fake retro music video...because this is so good that it s hard to believe and if so very well executed

  • does anyone else think that fall out boy ripped this riff off with that song "i dont care".

dont get me wrong i like fall out boy but the second i heard that song i instantly saw it as a rip off of this

  • its not their song anyways...

Norman Greenbaum wrote and played this first.

  • "Don't get me wrong....I like Fall Out Boy." You act as if you're gonna offend somebody if you say you DON'T like Fall Out Boy. Trust me, you wouldn't be offending ANYBODY! LOL!

  • its true what he says you got to have a friend named jesus if u want to go to heaven,, not friging muhamed

  • The original writer of this song was poking fun at the triviality of Christianity.

It doesn't matter what you so long as you have a friend in Jesus...murder, lie, cheat, steal, etc. Don't matter.

  • i love how they cranked upthe guitar unlike the original which was much more mellow

  • I don't know... The rumbling bass in the original has never been beaten. This is great, but the original still remains untopped for that bass.

  • they make me think of kiss

  • wow he sure made that song so much better.....did neone notice that he has a lisp? i jus noticed it , kinda freaky but its all good tunes in ma ears yo

  • Didn't notice the lisp myself but I am currently in a show with the singer (Clive Jackson) and I can say for absolute certainty, he doesn't have a lisp. Another notable factor, he sounds nothing like this when he sings normally. His normal singing voice is almost the same as Elvis! No shit!!

  • I can play this song on guitar.

    Its so easy.

I love this song, and the drummer has nice hair,Lol.

  • just been to see a show called Route 66 devised & starring the Dr, if you get the chance try and catch it. Its Brill, went with my fab bro inlaw, great laugh x

  • i sw doctor and the medics last year and got a signed tshirt..they have a new guitarist and the main singer is stil mental an paints his face haha..with crazy coats and everything!!!

  • fabulous !

  • Truly, presently here in ASEAN, the POLICE Chief Superintendent is the FRIENDSTER of all Scalawags, Criminals, Nomads and all the JOBLESS!

  • my dad was their manager; these videos always bring a sense of nostalgia. ^_^

  • really!

  • yeah, really! :)

  • Comment removed

  • ur dad was the manager of dr and the medics?! sooooo cool! me and my mum totally love this song. it was made on my birthday. 1989.

  • I was also born in 1989, and yeah he managed them - He's actually just finished writing a book about the band, and the club that he opened with Clive (the Doctor).

  • im so having this at my funeral man!

  • lmao i want this at my funeral

  • Play this at a Funeral. Oh the irony! XD

  • I love this...the best version by far...1986 has to be one of the best years in music. I was 8 and I have so many musical memories from that year.

  • Perfect Halloween-theme video! LOL xD

  • love to see marylyn manson do it

  • Gender confusion going on here too. Kidding. I love the clothing.

  • Marilyn Manson should re-make this song!

  • as a true MM fan that would be interesting, but getting tired of his covers like his originals the best

  • I love Mobscene!!! What covers has he done? Tainted love and Personal Jesus...what else? I think he's only doin the covers to appeal to a wider audience...bit of a sell-out realy when he's good at what he does anyway.

  • I agree kiaan85

  • this is the best song ever!!! i never get tierd of lissen

  • Cool!

  • Evokes memories of Mexico '86. The Hand of God and all that bullshit.

  • are you english?

yeah i hate that dirty trick too

  • Yeah! you got it, pal!! hahaha.

  • the young ones is the best

  • this is the song from the longlest yards with adam sandler or ?

  • Greenbaums` and this version are both good in their own right. (in my opinion) Just a good song.

  • good cover want that at up full blast on my up there to the white gates or down wot ever lol

  • Somehow I doubt that. First, Mr Greenbaum is alive and well and living in California. Second, this song was number one in thirty six countries, so imagine he'll be delighted with the extra royalties.

  • i love this song!!!

  • The 12" remix of this song was a hit in the clubs. I wish that version was available somewhere.

  • kind of a metal verson

  • cool song

  • They are insane! In a good way. Love the song!

  • tankh you for the video

  • Best version of this song by a distance...end of story.

    Cheers Lor xx

  • exellent cover I like this version the best

  • if i see somewere this type of doctor i run far far from that place....but cool song

  • ya, but you know he has some good drugs so that if he has to 'doctor' you, youll only remember cool visuals. which is all Id want to remember.

  • agreed

  • if i see somewere this type of doctor i run far far from that place....but cool song

  • Norman Greenbaum rocks! Got Spirit in the Sky on 33 and 45!

  • Yes. This cover is great but it lacks the rumbling bass of the original. Excellent video.

  • The original goth-rockers?? Knocks the crap out of Evenscence! (i'm joking of course :o)

This is one of those extreamly rare cases where the cover version is actually better than the original. Love it!

(Gareth Gates, if your reading this, WHY did you even bother????)

  • Well said.

  • I just wish it had the deep, gut-trembling bass of the original. Otherwise it is fantastic.

  • we got the point the 1st time

  • Great guitar work by Steve McGuire on this one

  • Great work, but it does lack the rumbling bass of the original. That is the only area where they fell short with this cover.

  • DON'T FEAR THE REAPER

  • And the two girls/backing singers were called "The Anadin Brothers" fact fans.

    Why? I have no idea...

  • I wonder if they were drag artists? Whatever the case, they were good.

  • If you mean "Drag artists" as in "Female impersonators, then no.

    They're definitely both girls.

  • loved it as a kid but watchin it now, its got to be the worst video of all time

  • somebody can help me where I can buy this video on DVD , vhs or blu ray ??????

  • this it's the original version !!!!!!!!

  • No! Norman Greenbaum is the original singer and songwriter of Spirit in the Sky.

  • yes you are right !!!! I mean 80's video , sorry

  • never heard this version, but it's damn cool. not the usual musical rape when people remake a song.

  • Almost perfect remake of the original, except it lacks the rumbling bass. The video is absolutely incredible. Great stuff.

  • Absolutely LOVE 2:15 - 2:23

  • Best version of this song by far!

  • why...

  • I'm glad to see that the video is back up.A little piece of advice, cover the vh1 logo or youtube will have a cow and threaten to cancel your account.Anyways, this song rocks!!!!
