  • You remind me of Andy Rooney with this video. And mosty local kids in our community go to the local malls to trick or treat, and by the time their bags are full, the parents seem to think that enough for their kids, and skip the door to door trick or treats.

  • I can totally relate. This year all the Christmas crapola started so early that in some stores they never even bothered to put out costumes or anything. They were selling Christmas trees at the beginning of October at my local craft store! Halloween has always been my favorite holiday so, I felt cheated. Christmas has successfully choked out every other event of the year! That's why I'm boycotting it this year. Bring back Halloween!!

  • Great to see you in front of the camera again!

I can kind of see where you're going with the whole "Halloween is being put on the back burner" take, but in some aspects I think that's a misconception. In your complex the kids didn't come and that's a shame, but just take a venture to any suburb and I think you'd see it alive and well. There are certain hot spots and cold spots, and unfortunately you have a cold spot.

I enjoyed your story about the witch and the spooky house!

  • this guy is right, and sometimes when i look out the window I say to my self, I didnt know my neighbor had 3 dogs, wow who's that lady parking her car right in front of my house, it's just as if everyone were strangers... I wonder what's going on :(

  • cause of the snow lol

  • New videos please...

  • Quite a surprise seeing your face again!

It appears that it's regional, but in my area, Halloween is dead. I saw 4 kids this year, out in the neighborhood, down from 6 last year. They didn't stop here. Nowadays they all go to the malls, and to major sponsored public events; the neighborhoods are dead.

Like you, I remember when the night was alive with armies of kids and parents, up and down and all over the neighborhood, and it was a grand event. Not so now, and yes, it's a bit sad...

  • Tim, it's great to see you back in front of that camera again! :) Jim

  • Tim, good you see you again. If I can sum things for you, Halloween just wasn't meant to be for you this year. It happens. It happened to me as well this year while others--including your subscribers, friends, etc.--had a wonderful, action-PACKED Halloween this year. Yours and mine was meant to be a quiet Halloween. Just be thankful that you could experienced another Halloween and have faith for next year and be happy for those who had a great Halloween. :)

  • Could have done with some of that Candy over here in the UK.. ..I gave to much away to the first few that knocked at the door and so we had some disappointed kids, Well not totally disappointed... I could see the size of there buckets.

  • Nice to see you back! Yea, it seems paranoia is as rampant as ever. A few years ago, a couple neighborhood kids and I put together a fun display outside with lights, fog, fun, and lots of candy. We had maybe four visitors all night. Those parents also thought it was great fun and couldn't figure out why virtually nobody else was out and about. Needless to say, that was the last time we did anything like that. Not worth it for so few guests.

  • I haven`t bought candy in about 30 years because I have lived in various apt complexes I don`t know why but people either don`t take there kids into apts or the people that live there take theirs out...I also think there are more and more house parties for kids churches and malls that kids are going too also because of the "dangers" out there...And a lot of people just don`t give out candy anymore....

  • I remember a house that my sister and I used to go too mid 60`s it wasn`t decorated or anything the couple were in there 50`s maybe 60`s I would guess she would make these HUGE popcorn balls softball size all the kids knew you hit Goldy and Cecils house first because they didn`t last long I also remember getting apples and oranges too of course as a kid I wasn`t to thrilled but they got eaten too after a few days and all the good candy was gone..lol

  • If I recall you're also in the Raleigh area. It's not 'the times' that scared off the trick or treaters this year it was just the weather. It was raining until around 8 or so here. Last year I had probably around 30-40 trick or treaters. This year I had 7. I think most people just decided to stay inside or I heard some people went to the malls. Not sure how that works but yeah. People are afraid of melting lol.

  • We didn't have many children in our developement either. I only have 4 sets of kids come to my house. I only saw 2 kids out while I was walking my girls around our area. Alot of people are just sticking with safe nights at businesses. Here they throw a huge safe night at a casino with tons and stations set up handing out candy. I took my girls out to a trunk or treat classic car thing in the first part of the evening. But I still made sure to walk them around the neighborhood. Fresh Air is Great

  • Nice video.

Yep, they have destroyed Halloween with unneccesary hysteria.

What do you think the Reno PD did yesterday ?- They sent a public relations statement offering to x-ray anyone's candy for free to check for razor blades.

So now the kids go to the mall so the parents shop while the stores give out candy or go to their churches for parties and stuff.

  • hi tim

  • AHA! I guess my chat with you last night did accomplish something!!!!! :D

  • WELCOME BACK SIRRR

  • Part two >> I remember my years of taking my three kids out trick or treating and I think they did till the early teens. I wish you were closer even though I cant eat the candy cause of diabetes. I think that parents are too busy to see to it that kids go out to do things that are supposed to be family things. It is sad and I dont like it much either. Its a shame. I miss seeing the kids in the costumes and passing out the candy to the kids. I enjoy that part. HUGS to you xoxo

  • Tim, this Wacky family didnt have any trick or treaters either. Last year I wasted the money and got candy and all we got were some teens that werent even wearing costumes and smoking cigs that tried to keep coming back for more and a handfull of smaller kids in the neighborhood. This year I just made treat bags for our grandsons Marcus and Matthew and for Brea. Beth Ann didnt even take the kids out because they have been ill and she had to work. SO GOOD TO SEE YOU! LOVE AND HUGS! > part 2

  • Did your area have damage from the recent snow storm? Many towns in Connecticut got 10 up to 20 inches of snow with downed trees and wires. Many are still without power. Numerous towns across the state cancelled or postponed Trick-or-Treating this year due to the damage etc...

  • We live in a town where parents need2drive their children house2house2get Halloween treats. We've been in the same house for 31 years. The best year we ever had was when we got20 Trick-or-Treaters. It dwindled to ONE.

In the past3years or so, the PTO parents coordinated a Trunk-or-Treat. Adults sign up2bring their cars2the TownHall parking lot. They decorate the vehicle+wear costumes. Then other parents bring their kids2the lot. They go car2car4goodies, + they play games.

  • Halloween is alive and well here in Ontario Canada. Had a record number of ghosts and goblins at my door last night. All is well.

  • @oldguy1944 Well I'm glad to hear that!

  • Good seeing you. I'll take as much as candy as you can offer.

When I was growing up, my parents did not go with me if I went out for Halloween. I would go to strangers houses and go to a few people I knew from church, etc. I think it was better when parents went with their kids or a group of old enough kids went together and had fun getting candy. Of course people do stuff to the candy still, so it's a hard call on it.

  • In all the time I've lived where I do, I've never had a trick-or-treater, but at least I get Jehovah's Witnesses, which are almost the same thing.

  • Okay now that I've watched the video. Tim, I am only 25 years old and I can see quite a difference than when I was younger.

We were cleaning out an apartment (family owns a few duplexes) and had candy ready to go for any kids that might show up. Not a single person showed up. Granted, we live in a college town, and parents might be afraid to take candy from college kids, but I really do sense that our society has changed.

  • Wow no shit Tim! I JUST watched a vid yesterday of yours that I hadn't seen in a while. (It was the Sheppard's Pie video)

    What a coincidence.

  • @Edustin Ahhh and oldie but a goodie. :)
