I see that is the Sega Saturn version of the game reprogammed for X-Box.

I disliked that version, so for me, reprogam the PlayStation version could be a better idea because in all areas is more entertaining and easier to play (believe me, I've played the both of the versions).

If you're wondering how this played on Xbox Live, keep wondering because no one ever played this one online. I waited for half an hour once and got nothing. DOA2U barely had any lag to speak of, though.

@knuxthefox I would recommend it. It's very cheap these days and you do get dead or alive 1 and an improved version of the second one. Picked my copy up for about £3 so I would say it's a very good deal.

Arcade version has 3D backgrounds. Few unlockables.

Saturn version has impressive, large "pseudo 3D" backgrounds; layers of large flat sprites), has some unlockables.

PS1 version has simple, non-layered background. Has most unlockables.

Each version has its merits.

I was disappointed that the L's Castle stage (which is amazing in the Japanese Dreamcast version of DOA2) was not in DOA Dimensions.

@knuxthefox No, you're thinking of the Demon's Church. L's Castle is a huge arena with a Chinese castle in the distance, it was based on Lei Fang's stage from DOA1. There are steps and slopes and a large open area, and a large gateway which leads out into another area.

DOA1U is pretty decent, as a port of the Saturn version. Still, compared to the massively improved DOA2U it does look kind of bad (that is, they hugely upgraded DOA2, but not DOA1), but still, it's good. Very fun gameplay.

However, the Playstation (1) version is better. The graphics are even at best to the Saturn/Xbox version, but it's got over 100 costumes to unlock and has Ayane playable. Those two additions alone make it the better version for sure. It's too bad they weren't included here.

Great fighting game and I feel that if the developers have had more confidence on the game they had created, they would have dialed back the obvious and exaggerated sex appeal put into it to attract attention to the franchise. If the players gets past that, they'll discover a well balance and excellent fighting game worthy of your time. It is such a shame that the series was allowed to degrade to such pandering ogle fests thanks to the Xtreme Beach titles.
