  • PIRATE RADIO!

  • MPARE

  • freshh !!! love from Croatia

  • 1:17 isnt the original beat.... They changed it . On V.C.R it has the originally recorded beat!

  • @osidecoqui ....You are absolutely right. They could not get permission from Bob James to allow the original "Mardi Gras" song in the DVD version. So Fab 5 Freddy and the producers re-edidted this version. I have the original VHS version to. A classic and rare find. Don't ever lose your copy. I no longer play the VHS version because I don't want it damaged.

  • THAT is what I call real hip hop.

  • 1:17 say no more.

  • perfect in simplicity

  • thats cool...:D

  • Wild style 1983 what a film

  • what movie is this from?

  • Wow

  • I mean really do I need to make a comment on this?

  • Hip Hop is the greatest on the sly feat of community organizing since the building of the pyramids. Everyone contributed out of the love in their hearts.

But now their is a price tag on each part and for that reason its sux because everyone is trying to capture the biggest crowd which effectively makes hip hop 'POP'

Pop and hip hop doesn't suppose to be considered the same class

Its fucked up when u see some of the hardest st rappers on stage with pop acts like Beiber

  • this is Tony Lords 170th Jesup ave of featherbed lane saying this... Notice how all the latin and black kids getting along. We had Dust back then and it was bad like crack, what happened?

  • Get 'em Flash !!!

  • Have they edited the BOB James mardigra with a sample!! ?

  • i saw this beat street and breakin, 69st upper darby pa. i cant co sign on beat street and breakin, but wild style is some shit that should be put into a time capsule, so they can open 100 years from now and really know what hip hop was. hip hop is not rap. krs one said it best. rap is something you do. hip hop is what you live. oh style wars was my shit too! Niggaz Know. Niggaz Know

  • Is that Lee painting?

  • Seriously, this film made me a hip-hop fan. This little scene with Flash is awesome, its this 2 minutes that made me want to be a DJ. And not one of these stupid DJ's nowadays who just play a beat and shout stupid stuff over the lyrics like "yo yo we in da house" or plays from CD's or from Spotify, a REAL DJ, who would search for hours trying to find the right songs on vinyl. Thank you Flash, thank you Wild Style.

  • Rock Steady Crew was the shit back then and Fab 5 Freddie still looks the same!!

  • I can do deese moves at mah house MAYNE!!

  • this is where its at..anyone who hears this then hears black eyed peas will know what and where REAL hip hop is and always will be. btw, if anyone ever wants a reason to hate b.e.p. read the interview where will.i.am talks about some austrailians tellin him "hip-hops dead mate, its electro now" and therefore giving him the idea for the end. Thanks "mate"

  • What is the name of 1:13 track?

  • @MrTecism well its suppose to be bob james 'take me to the mardigras' .but they put an edit track that sounds simiar.,due to copy write protection.if you can find the original copy of wildstyle it will have the proper soundtrack.

  • haha!! the scratching is so terrible!

    its great tho.

  • Vintage Hip hop! Grandmaster Cut Faster! Unfortunately this is the change up without the Bob James sample.

  • @fakecape the track at the end is on the wildstyle lp itself if my memorie is correct.the music was done by a guy who was in the group blondie ..chris stein i think..

  • @shawnrsd: thank you very much for the response!

awesome. i'm going to try to find the S/T

  • Luv this. But I remember seeing this when it was first ever broadcast on TV/cable and there's a different version to the Grandmaster Flash track. This here is the DVD released version. There's more bells and chimes added to this song but i guess they cut it our and/or re-edited it. Still sounds good tho. Glad I caught it.

  • The sound is hip-hop and the moves is hip-hop. This is hip-hop how it started.

  • samuel l jackson lol

  • Nice!

  • this is slighty longer than original clip..that last cut should have been from bob james nautilus..but beat has been re-mixed....i like it though

  • @shawnrsd I like the Bob James part better. It's Take Me to the Mardi Gras

  • @shawnrsd : do you happen to the know the name of the track playing from 2:30 up til' the end of the video?

    please respond. :)

  • @fakecape it's from the Wildstyle soundtrack. When they were making the film all the Djs wanted to use the records that they were playing in clubs, but this would incur a hefty fee so Fab Five Freddy and Chris Stein (from Blondie) put together 10-12 breaks and supplied two copies to all the djs in the film. :)

  • @selfhoodsoul hey, THANK YOU! yeah, i heard back then, blondie was admired by the listeners of hip hop in the 80s for some reason.

i really wanted to know this, so i appreciate it! :)

  • @fakecape yeah, debby harry and chris stein used to go down to the bronx to the ecstacy garage and t-connection and watch dudes like flash cut it up. She even name drops him and Fab Five in the song Rapture.

  • @selfhoodsoul : oh, i didn't know she was that close to the artist.

i would think that she would be too famous to spend time with them.

that's awesome to know though! makes me like blondie even more. c:

  • LOL at 1:29 dude get your butt outta my face!

  • emblematico y nostalgico donde los alla!!

sin duda alguna este video representa mucho para el mundo del hip hop hoy por hoy!!

    el gran maestro flash!!jeje

    buen video!!

    un saludo

    jau

  • the best part in the entire movie

  • Actually the tuntables flash is using aren't "pre" sl1200 tables. I think they are the sl1600 models. Quart direct drive platters. The 1200's came out in the early (very early) 70's. It started with the 1200's.. dj's prefered those size wise...those sl1600 models are kind of hard to find. They were usually used in radio stations so you weren't all that apt to see them in your local catalogs...unless you were reading something like "STEREO REVIEW". I research those tables back in college.

  • Breakin, BeatStreet, Krush Groove and Tougher Than Leather are other hip hop movies.

  • 2.56 What's his name again?

  • I dont care what anyone says this was the only Hip Hop movie...

  • the sample seems to be God Made me Funky from the Headhunter *_*!

  • @STRABFREAK - 100%

  • founding fathers right there.
