I agree, he is a champion in a poor era of rallying. There's little talent and only 2 manafacturers have factory teams, Citroen and Ford.

Back in the WRC days in the mid 90's it was "piranha club" with a dozen great drivers, and in the Group B era, there were great cars from Audi, Peugeot, Lancia, Ford and Toyota. Guys like Rohrl, Mikkola, Alen, Toivonen, Blomqvist, Vatanen, Kankkunen, Biasion, Mouton.

What does Loeb compete against today?? Nothing.

Most of what I miss of rallying was the endurance side of it, the enormous stages and the intermediate road stages, the times when fx the RAC went right round the UK. Group B were absolute monsters, but they are really the equivalent of a muscle car :P

aahh the days of Group B, i remember watching them on the TV back in teh 80s with amazement. Vatanen, Blomqvist, Mouton, Mikkola. The cars - quattro, 205 T16, 6R4, RS200 and the rest - superb, unsurpassable. Great to see the Opel Manta in there! Love that car. Always wanted an Opem Manta GTE here in teh UK.
