  • sean, in regards to your "smooth" 7 iron, when ever i try and hit any "smooth" iron i am too soft through impact and hit the ball straight right any ways for me to get the whole swing smooth to take some distance of a club and not go weak through impact??!!!

    regards!!

  • Hello veryspecialsteve!

Go to my "golf pro lesson timing and tempo update" video as well as the "Golf pro lesson perpetual motion drill" and simply be aware that you are LETTING THE ARM-CLUB UNIT SWING ALL THE WAY TO THE FINISH and not letting it fall into the ball; if the focus is on the ball, your body will quit turning out of the way past it and the arms will crash into you and the arm club unit will be prevented from releasing!

  • Hi Shawn. Ive read lots of articles saying that you should take the exact same amount of time to perform your pre-shot routine before every shot. I myself like to take maybe 2-4 practice swings until I get the one that feels right and then try to visualise the target. For me its not possible to do it the same everytime. Should I try to change this or have you any tips that might help me with this? Hope you can help!

  • Hey! Thanks for the question and comment!

What should be the same is the approach to the shot; you are on the right track! See what you need to do first with the lie and the shot; then you formulate the swing feel with the club and anticipation of how the ball will come out of the lie towards the target; then the set up should fall into place in regards to the feel; When your feel matches the picture, let it go! Your routine should be timed enough to do this between 20 and 30 seconds...

  • Thanks alot Shawn for your reply. I think it is something i need to work on. I really think your videos are the best there is. Your obviously a busy man. I really think that its great that you can take some time out to help guys like me free of charge.

  • gabimuch,

What is golfswingguide? is it a website or a shawn clement video.

I have benefited greaty from Shawn's vids. My back used to hurt a lot after a round and now I barely even feel like I played 18 holes.

These videos are the best thing out here!

  • Hey tenaciousbee! You won't get an answer; it is a very crude way for these people to use mine and other golf videos to promote their porthole for promoting other golf websites; they use bogus names and accounts to do this and it is very disruptive...It took me a couple hours to remove them all from my videos...Thanks for the kind words and comment though!!:) Shawn

  • Great tip, this is exactly what I wasn't doing. Focusing and retaing information from the body. Thanks Shawn!!

  • where is this?

  • Dear Shawn, I see with your 8, 7, 5 iron etc the ball position is in the same spot. Where is that spot for the Driver? Off the left heal? and if so why , can you explane or tell me what vidio to look at....ney way keep up the great work...reg's Andrew

  • Hi Andrew; yes!

Go to my website at shawnclementgolf dot com and find the "You Tube Shawn" page: The videos you want to watch are "Great Driver Tip" and "Width of Stance and Ball Position"

    Thanks for the question, Shawn

  • I know this is an old video but I just wanted to say Bravo! as someone trained in anatomy and physiology as well as neurosciences I can appreciate where you're coming from with this and it really makes so much sense. It also explains why my best shots are the ones I take less time preparing and don't seem to fuss over the shot, instead going for the feel. Great work, you've got another admirer here! :)

  • Shawn, This is great!! I get in the habit of standing over the ball way too long before I swing. I have been getting better at stepping up and "firing" though. I have heard alot of talk about swing keys from teaching pros. I assume that they are talking about the sensations that you describe and nothing mechanical?

  • I like the "Neurology 101" anecdote (i.e. the brain holds onto a sensation for 9 to 12 seconds). That explains why I often swing poorly when I stand over the ball too long -- I must be losing the sensation from my practice swing.

  • Nice tempo.
