There is a simple logical construct that proves there was no 'God the Creator.' Creation can only come out of nothing. If it comes out of something then it is transference or alteration, not creation...in other words, simply a changing of form from one thing to another. So if god existed he did not create anything but merely indulged in an altered state of being. For true creation to have occurred there must have been a void preceding the creation.....a void containing no god!
Yes in the eyes of a Jesuit, a pantheist who finds a metaphysical and ulterior bonding and meaning of nature and an origin which has no absolute meaning...that person would be an atheist. According to the Bible, anyone who doesn't follow the Christian God is an atheist.
Granted that there are general basic standards of what is seen to be "wrong" for example, murder. The taking of an innocent life is generally seen as a heinous act amongst many if not all cultures. But in the big picture, right and wrong acts are subjective to the culture, period of time, and morality.

The Bible pretty much does NOT say that you get to choose between right and wrong, rather you get to choose between whether or not to worship and follow God.You must understand that the basic nature of RIGHT and WRONG is that there must be a specific standard to which something or someone is morally and ethically RIGHT or WRONG, which is somewhat absurd since that standard has the probability and/or possibility to be subjectively portrayed, hence the various belief systems across the world.
All humans are prone to perform evil actions, not just Christians. We perform these "evil" deeds because we have the ability to reason and freely act upon such reasoning for a specific action. And I'm just curious....if God claims that he will never forsake you....why is it that Jesus Christ, his son, has been quoted saying, "Father, Father, why have you forsaken me?"....just wondering. Also, the concepts of right and wrong are completely relative and arbitrary.

"It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."
Which bit and how? If you accept the premises in her argument (which are taken from the bible), then she logically leads to a contradiction, that being that Christians can do no evil but actually do.
Evil is not the absense of God but human chooses to push God away. The reason their is a hell for is because God wont force you into heaven by your action on earth. You God He wont force you to be with Him
My own belief is that not everyone who claims to have accepted God in their lives has honestly done so. It takes more to do so then simply saying you do. After all, I can say I invented computers, but just saying it doesn't make it true.
Also, evil, while it does exist, is often a matter of perspective. An act by one person might seem just and good, but evil to another. Very few things are cut and dry good or evil.
Most atheists cant see this, but what Albert Einstein meant when he said the "absence of God","it could also prefer in a way that he meant that God don't want anything to do with the present evil"that don't mean God doesn't see the evil,"because like he said,we have the choice of right and wrong. We can become evil just like the devil and serve him, but we would end up in eternity in Hell!,God stays true and perfect, anything outside that prefers to Evil!!! Push away God, evil is present

@VICe1986 so for once im told to NOT take it in context. so your argument is pure bull feaceise, get a grip your telling me to ingonre the context of the question AND the answer, E would have been sadly disapointed in u, as for asking someone NOT to make sense in an answer. Is not the meaning of life to understand ur surroundings, to the best of your ability, you strike me as a lazy someone who wants to be told the answers instead of making up ur own mind, RIGHT or WRONG.
He never said Evil is the Absence of God. He said "Evil is what exists when a man doesn't have the love of God in his heart. Just like cold exists when and area is absent of heat. or a space dark when light is absent."
1. (this is to everyone)Who cares if Einstein said it or not? If a monkey told you that you exist, does it affect the truth of the claim? It doesn't matter who says it, truth is truth.
2.This is actually an interesting point you make that I haven't heard before. However, I believe you misunderstand the point of the reference.Evil is a choice made with the love of God absent in one's heart. God will never leave us,but that doesn't mean we will never leave God.THAT is where the distinction lies.
@ClamCrunchy Then two thousand years ago, eleven Jewish peasants living in ignorance and poverty invented the most successful and devious lie in the history of mankind, which has fooled wise men, politicians, philosophers, kings and commonmen and changed the fundamental flow of human history as we know it.These men then died horrible brutal deaths to protect what they appearantly knew to be a lie, but not before they had a dramatic effect on millions of people in the known Roman world and beyond.
I rather do enjoy your videos. People incessantly misapprehend what Einstein is stating when he uses the word "God"; it is on the same level of Hawkins' usage of it as well. They are describing the cosmos as a whole. It is definitely a semantics issue. Anyways, love your videos!

part 2, evil is the 'absence of god', evil is in every human, some chose to act out evil, most do not, those that performe evil acts are closer to our animal past, when we had no conscience as it would have hindered survival, only when the welfare of the group outwayed the welfare of the one, did the conscience start to imerge as a significant contrubution to humans becoming self aware, a group causing self awareness !, if the mind is stuck at self, only empathy sets you appart, 'oh them n me' !
First part i have no interest if Albert was or was not an atheist, but his letter said 'From the viewpoint of a Jesuit priest i am, of course, and have always been an athiest' i think he was using satire here, as in the eyes of a Jesuit he is a Jew(atheist), so no matter if he was an atheist or still a Jew in the Jesuits eyes he was then and would always be an atheist :-)
What no, no, no making sense and taking something in context is not cool! Just forget the context of the question of the manner of the answer, Einstein was too smart to use sarcasm!
OK PROVE EINSTEIN WROTE THAT LETTER PROVE IT WASN'T A FAKE ... YOU CANT ..... YOU ARE FIGHTING A LOOSING BATTLE IT DOSE NOT MATTER WHAT
EINSTEIN DID OR DID NOT SAY OR BELIEVE , YOU ARE LIVING PROOF THAT YAHWEH (JESUS) EXISTS THAT SHOULD BE PROOF ENOUGH BUT YOU AND THOSE LIKE YOU HAVE ALLOWED YOURSELVES TO BE DECEIVED ,YOU NEED TO STUDY HISTORY AND SCIENCE AND THE WORD CLOSER AND FIND OUT THE LIES MAN HAS TAUGHT US IN SCHOOL.....
prove jesus exist. if you're going by this argument no document is sacred. so anything written about jesus is false. so therefore does not exist. so when are you going to realize the lies man taught you at church?
You are clearly forgetting anyone who claims something does not mean by biblical standards they are, so your argument using "I will never leave you or forsake you" cannot be used as you cannot measure what a disciple is. Not those who claim to be followers, in which you cannot measure.
If God is Omniscient, then there is no such thing as "absence of God". And therefore there should be no such thing as evil. The simplest answer to all questions concerning God is that he doesn't exist.
"I'm not an Atheist and I don't think I can call myself a Pantheist"
In your quote: "From the viewpoint of a jesuit priest I am, of course, and have always been an Atheist" maybe it means that for a jesuit priest there is no difference between a Deist and an Atheist, he considers both of them as godless people, that's why he could call Einstein an Atheist.
" I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with fates and actions of human beings"
I don't think he was an Atheist, quote:
" In view of such harmony in the cosmos which I, with my limited human mind, am able to recognize, there are yet people who say there is no God.But what really makes me angry is that they quote me for the support of such views".
My understanding is that Einstein was a Deist, a believer in an impersonal god that set the universe into motion, but who ultimately couldn't care less about the earth and its inhabitants.
please ,i beg you with all do respect. do not try to break down evil / bible / god / Christians, the way you did. theology does not seem to be your thing.your point in einstein, i agree with you he was agnostic. but when you attempted to speak theology it sounds like glass breaking. have a great day.
"In view of such harmony in the cosmos which I, with my limited human mind, am able to recognize, there are yet people who say there is no God. But what really makes me angry is that they quote me for the support of such views."
@79Mystic Good job quote mining! This is what Einstein said right before your quote: "I have repeatedly said that in my opinion the idea of a personal God is a childlike one. You may call me an agnostic, but I do not share the crusading spirit of the professional atheist" -A.E.
Einstein professed agnostic atheism. He simply disliked being connected to the militant atheists of the time. He explained his preference for an "attitude of humility" and suggested leaving the religious alone.
By the way, I have seen all your videos. Very blah blah humdrum thinking in the doldroms. See you at your death bed when your are crying for God. hahahaha
Evil is the absence of God, when you turn your back on him. God will always be around that is true. The professor had indeed turned his back on God, and was teaching through his opinions. Why do you athiest always set out to challenge God? If there is no God, then why waste your time.
The Jesuit priest rumour is a garbled account of Einstein's discussions with Georges Lemaître. Lemaître was a Belgian priest who went to a Jesuit run school in his youth, but does not appear to have joined the Society of Jesus, and so was not a Jesuit.
Lemaître was the leading developer of what become known as the Big Bang theory which Einstein originally did not support , so he could be said to have converted Einstein to what is today part of the accepted theory about the universe.
Well, i guess that the quote isn't taken from the Bible which means that it probably isn't a canonized statement. But to kinda go along with it; if you read heb. then you'll see that before saying that he'll be by your side you have to do what he wants, which means that if people did as he wanted he would be by their side, but if they don't, he won't. Which sounds like an Ok deal to me :p
Well said.. Einstein didnt believe in a personal god. Dont worry, atheism is gaining ground.. in 1000 yrs the world will be atheistic, free of any religion.
Humanism will rule the world! Sad I was born now. This world is bad, homophobic, materialistic, anti-women. Without those 2000 yrs of christianity we would be so much further..
@NdreaLynn There is no chance that the human race can survive another 1000 years with religious dogma and bronze age morals, all the hate between different religions and many hundreds sub religion in them.
The only way for humans to survive is massive science so humans one day can colonize new planets when our Sun run out of fuel. It's already delayed hundreds of years while all scientist that claimed to know more then the bible was tortured to death. Figure why most planets has Arabic names.
reviewing the video, i did not see any subtitle that einstien said evil is the absence of god but instead "god did not create evil, evil is the result of what happens, when man does not have god's love presence in their heart"
The absence argument is flawed so bad it backfires. X doesn't exist, it's the absence of Y. Ok. Y doesn't exist, it's the absence of X. Evil doesn't exist, it's the absense of God's love. Ok. God's love doesn't exist, it's the absence of evil. I take it the creators of that commerical didn't think to hard on that one.
Even if he did say that, I'm just going to quote myself from a comment I made on something else. If god is able to create a world without evil, and he created one with evil, then he did create evil, and there for he is evil, Evil did not have to exist. And if god could not create a world without evil, this means god is not all-powerful. So are we then saying we know the limets of this god? surely we must, if we claim to know what he can't do. I then ask you, what are the limits of god?
well mellisa it was just an advertisement .. nd the question was does god exist?? nd the answer is yes he does.. nd definitely albert E. had more sense than u actually have.. thatz the problem with u americans.. u dont believe in any thing..
Not only did Einstein never say that, NO ONE ever said that because it is false. Cold and darkness are not the "absence" of heat and light. The laws of thermodynamics prove that.
Melissa, why does iAmUrEnemy1 hold so much hate and anger? Attacking you of course will not bring him any closer to the filling the emptiness inside. Simply wish him peace-he needs it. Anyway, references you might be interested in are available in Einstein's biography. Come to find out while in his youth, around your age, he was an atheist. As he grew older, and wiser, my age ;) he proclaimed himself a Jew by faith in God, and found the story of Jesus of Nazarene intriguing to ponder. Peace!
cont... picture teaching a child to ride a bike. Just because that child has faith and love for thier parent, as the parent does for them, does not mean the child will not fall. The parent can only give instructions, and be there for the child, but, must let the child learn for themself even if that means a couple scrapes and bruises. Because God is always there does not mean we are infaluable. Free will still exsists thus so does evil. Make any scence?
cont... I agree that God created us with free will. To question, doubt, seek truth, believe or not, and to live our life in His way or our own. Evil is not transending, but exists because of our actions and what we do with free will. 'Proclaiming' ourself a Christian does not mean God takes away that free will. In fact free will MUST exsist for faith to exsist does it not? God is always there but that does not mean we still can't fall short of His glory. cont...
melissAbovE: Well said. There are several aspects of the video that are factually questionable. However, I do not think it is intended to be historical or factual. Seems to be a cute little vidoe intended to make a point. Thats all. cont...
@alanscottbl If the video were not pretending to be historical or factual, then they wouldn't need to put this punchline at the end that the kid was supposedly Einstein. It could have been just some random kid, and the moral message would have been intact.
Instead, the video is attempting to persuade the viewer by authority, AND misrepresenting the views of that authority.
If the value of this video is in its underlying message, then it doesn't need to LIE to make a point.
You make a great and valid point. I saw it for what it was and didn't put much into the inaccuracy of it. Now, seeing the replies it has generated, sure is a darn shame they did not do as you suggest. Completely distracts, if not discredits, what I feel is a awesome concept/message that would have generated wonderful thoughts on God and religion.
also, mind the elephant in the room. who cares if einstein was an atheist? the authority or credibility belonging to the person making a claim to truth doesn't establish the claim's truth. "jesus or einstein said it was true, therefore it is true." only an idiot would accept that as a sufficient standard for truth. with that said, in your einstein quote, he does say "from the viewpoint of a jesuit preist" before saying "i am and have always been an atheist." not that it matters.
1.god's existence is irrelevant, seeing as how god isn't responsible for feeding people and building stable and functional economic systems. people are. 2. evil is not the absence of god, it is the absence of reason. the very same sort of absence that must be present in order to have faith - which itself can only be defined as a conscious rejection of reason. a rational, reasonable assertion ceases to be rational when it can no longer admit the possibility of its own falsehood.
I'd agree with you, except for the fact that one of his followers (or several) are spreading dishonest, easily refutable claims. Its natural that someone would point this out.
Granted, this event in Einstein's life may be fabricated. What is not fabricated is that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We are NOT holy, as HE is. Therefore, He is all powerful and all GOOD!

But he will force you to hell if you don't believe in him?
logicalmind4 11 months ago

ViCe1986 1 year ago 2

First part i have no interest if Albert was or was not an atheist, but his letter said 'From the viewpoint of a Jesuit priest i am, of course, and have always been an athiest' i think he was using satire here, as in the eyes of a Jesuit he is a Jew(atheist), so no matter if he was an atheist or still a Jew in the Jesuits eyes he was then and would always be an atheist :-)

scienceatheism 1 year ago
You are clearly forgetting anyone who claims something does not mean by biblical standards they are, so your argument using "I will never leave you or forsake you" cannot be used as you cannot measure what a disciple is. Not those who claim to be followers, in which you cannot measure.

If God is Omniscient, then there is no such thing as "absence of God". And therefore there should be no such thing as evil. The simplest answer to all questions concerning God is that he doesn't exist.

Einstein also said, quote:
"I'm not an Atheist and I don't think I can call myself a Pantheist"
In your quote: "From the viewpoint of a jesuit priest I am, of course, and have always been an Atheist" maybe it means that for a jesuit priest there is no difference between a Deist and an Atheist, he considers both of them as godless people, that's why he could call Einstein an Atheist.

I think he was a Deist, quote:
" I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with fates and actions of human beings"
I don't think he was an Atheist, quote:
" In view of such harmony in the cosmos which I, with my limited human mind, am able to recognize, there are yet people who say there is no God.But what really makes me angry is that they quote me for the support of such views".
trentspirit1 1 year ago
My understanding is that Einstein was a Deist, a believer in an impersonal god that set the universe into motion, but who ultimately couldn't care less about the earth and its inhabitants.

Why do you care? You're an atheist; you don't believe in God anyway.

Its saying that evil is the absence of goodness, the goodness that comes from God himself...

The only way for humans to survive is massive science so humans one day can colonize new planets when our Sun run out of fuel. It's already delayed hundreds of years while all scientist that claimed to know more then the bible was tortured to death. Figure why most planets has Arabic names.

reviewing the video, i did not see any subtitle that einstien said evil is the absence of god but instead "god did not create evil, evil is the result of what happens, when man does not have god's love presence in their heart"
mackz214 1 year ago

God is always there but that does not mean we still can't fall short of His glory.

Fyrebrand666 2 years ago
You make a great and valid point. I saw it for what it was and didn't put much into the inaccuracy of it. Now, seeing the replies it has generated, sure is a darn shame they did not do as you suggest. Completely distracts, if not discredits, what I feel is a awesome concept/message that would have generated wonderful thoughts on God and religion.
alanscottbl 2 years ago
also, mind the elephant in the room. who cares if einstein was an atheist? the authority or credibility belonging to the person making a claim to truth doesn't establish the claim's truth. "jesus or einstein said it was true, therefore it is true." only an idiot would accept that as a sufficient standard for truth. with that said, in your einstein quote, he does say "from the viewpoint of a jesuit preist" before saying "i am and have always been an atheist." not that it matters.
urvil 2 years ago
1.god's existence is irrelevant, seeing as how god isn't responsible for feeding people and building stable and functional economic systems. people are. 2. evil is not the absence of god, it is the absence of reason. the very same sort of absence that must be present in order to have faith - which itself can only be defined as a conscious rejection of reason. a rational, reasonable assertion ceases to be rational when it can no longer admit the possibility of its own falsehood.
