Just read verse 1, and you will see that God was not threatening "us" to rub our faces with dung. Well if you are an Israelite, and more specifically a priest, and if you lived in the time of Malachi, maybe the 'threat' was for you. Context...that's important in reading every book, especially a book that you don't believe in. You're right DoDoiiscOl, it's just that people don't know when a statement is figurative or literal, and sometimes they literalize things.
