Infantry consists of fighting on the front line with rifles, grenades, and bare hands. Artillery consists of staying BEHIND the front line, doing math, then pointing guns where they are supposed to be pointed. Any Infantry will beat any artillery in up close fighting.

Airborne Infantry Divisions are American special forces--best men even in America, like SPETZNAZ. They were fighting German Artillery, which is not as well trained in trench fighting.

There is dramatic embellishment, such as with the Luger, but scenes are based on history.

A lot of the german soldiers wasn't nazi's... They fought for there country and in what they believed... But if you look at some pictures of soldiers who was captured by the allies on D-Day and some days in, some of those soldiers are happy, because for them the war was over.. Just got the book D-Day, and in that you can see pictures of german officers and soldiers smiling and talking to the allied soldiers after they we're catured on d-day..

And there wasn't much resistance in any of the campaigns you named with the exception of North Africa so their "experience" didn't count for much. If you had said "troops who fought in Russia"- THEN you'd have some seasoned troops. Airborne were special forces and this scene had them go against garden variety, very young Wehrmacht troops so their losing is easy to explain.

It was decided to allow the USSR Berlin. Patton could have taken Berlin 6 months prior to the Russians but politics made that decision. There was also a concern that it would be hazardous to have two different allied forces that had never seen or worked with one another taking the same objective. Saunders destroying all Hitler forces with only a thompson smg; now "Saunders" is "Winters" with a M1 Garand rifle!!...the same bullshit of U.S. TV and MOVIES: 1 american soldier dead, 1000 nazis dead and 1000 panzers damaged or destroyed with infantry. well, the united states did come in towareds the end of the war, and i agree that people focus a little too musch on them, but it is true that without them and their industrial might we never would have won the war. Although, this is one of the few movies taht are actually true. This assault actually happened, they actually won with few to no casualties, and went on to fight the rest of the war.

and no, those helmets were not bullet proof, they couldnt make them back then, and even if they could they would have been to heavy. Their purpose was to stop stray shrapnel and (this is true) for the phsycological benefit

they were a huge practical help, not just psychologically, but definitely for shrapnel which could definitely save lives but could also, depending on the angle, and it has been documented historically AND verified, of a bullet in one's direction in the general area of the head....better witht them on, man...don't you remember the real historical event of Carentan? Pistols were generally - as in the US army - issued to enlisted men and NCO's who were part of gun crews, tankers, mg gunners radio operators etc. who had no primary weapon to be fired without deploying it (arty, mortars, mgs).

officers had to purchase one privately and many found the luger to be too bulky, hence went for the P38, Sauer 38. also very common were pistols captured or manufactured in already occupied countries (FN in belgium, radom in poland...) cheers
