Y WOULD HE USE A 20K THAT'S JUST LIME A 1OK WOULD HAVE GOT IT DONE WITH ABOUT 7 TO 8000PSI BEEN BLASTING 9YRS AND DAT WAS JUST DUMB OF DA WHOLE COMPANY!!!!!!
A fireman uses high pressure hose with less pressure than that, and usually needs TWO people to hold it. With as much pressure as used in this pressure cleaner, it seems it would take maybe 5 or 10 people holding the nozel, but I only see one person holding it in that demonstration that cuts through wood. He must be the strongest man in the world!
that method of preventing this afterward is a bit of a long shot, the chances of this type of death are a handfull to a billion, just buy new pipes instead of cleaning them, that way you dont need extra power washer and u dont need dead peoples ><
a guy i worked with died he was using a jet truck used to clean out city sewer lines basically the same thing but the hose is about 1 1/2" around and the jet head about a ft long this idiot was inside a 5 ft storm pipe using it by hand aparently he had tripped or something and it got away from hin the jet head came back and smashed his skull
I did this work about 10 years ago when I was fresh out of high school. Anyone flex-lancing without controlling their own foot pedal, attaching a rigid lance 1.5x the diameter of the pipe to the tip, and without a backout preventer is a moron who works for a moron of a crew leader. Seriously, these things were the industry standard ten years ago! Also, if the crud in that pipe needs 20k of pressure, it's big enough to just use a line mole on, anyway. It would be faster and safer.
i blast everyday at work and it is a scary feeling when u have a lance back out on you while running lines. we had 2 near deaths this last month from people being stupid. and we cut concrete with 20,000 psi and we have also cut steel with that pressure to. hydroblasting is nothing to play with it.
This seems like a dangerous tool , no matter how safe you think you are, @
20 thousand PSI, I wonder who invented this , bet he/ shes not using it themselves..
There must be a better Safer tool ) they can invent for doing this kind of work.. I am also wondering how old this person was , and what traing did they get. ? RD
20,000 PSI?!?!?!?!?!?! WOW!!! Its UNBELIEVABLE that there using that amount of pressure with basically just a hose with a tip on it...NO WAND AT ALL??????? I mean the foot dump is good but MAN! Ive been pressure washing for 8 years and if asked to hold onto just a hose at those pressures I would laugh and for sure hand it back. "No thanks"
Im in the hydroblasting buisness and not controling your own pedal is completley dangerous and can and should be avoided at all times. Whoever was the forman of that job and that employee shouldve been fired at once.
Gr8 video. Kudos to the investigator and thumbs down to the idiot who thought it would be a good idea to have someone other than the operator controlling the foot module.
a guy here walked by one of those water pressure things that happened to have a small hole in the hose or box, not sure, and as he walked by it cut him right in half. now they have to walk by with a broom out in front of them. i think the worst is a tree debarker though, 3 guys had once somehow got trapped in one at the mill where i worked as a guard, so the story went.
yes. Some manufacturers use water jets to cut stone and metal. picture a skydiver (with out a parachute) doing a belly flop into a pool. Now magnify that by a few hundred or thousand times.
i work offshore and we use UHP systems nearly everyday; however, we use lances and not tubing lances for pipes.....TST suits will help prevent a serious injury; however, they will only give you a few seconds chance when using 40,000psi. However,I always ensure i adorn the full TST suit and double protected footwear also....plus goggles, a face shield and hearing protection. Very dangerous maching indeed....if it wasnt for the environment i would much rather grit blast all the time.
I was a supervisor in the Marine/Industrial blast and coating world for many years. The switch in question is a called a "Dead Man" for the obvious reasons, and No One operates the Dead Man but the Operator.
i was in the sandblasting industry and sometimes we'd have to go and use a 40k to clean out some pipe, but like this accident you NEVER have a second person controlling the footswitch, it should always be controled by the person running the nozzle.
Dude, i used a snake to clean out my own pipes in my house. When i was feeding it through the pipe it rolled up and the pressure made it coil and the engine keep feeding the metal cable. I was like holllllly shit. By the time i figured out what to do it was to late, BANG it coiled hard and fast and broke my thumb. Dude, just when u think u know what your doing, it only takes a second to lose control.
Very informative and being aware of dangers is the best way to be safe, at the very least this poor guy lost his life but as a result safety standards have gone up to prevent this from happening again.
Thank you for making the video - though we do not sell Water Blasting Techology, we encourage people to use similar safety measures when using our Pressure Washers. I will link this video to a number of our dealers and sales people.
I wouldnt allow anyone to control my foot box. And if it wasnt possible for me to control my pencil line and footbox then it would have to be someone i trust. Oh and marking the line with paint wont work. The water comming out of the hose is hot and there is friction on the line. Youll take the chance of the mark comming off. I use duct tape. Also one must consider the size of the pencil line in contrast to size of pipe and make certain all orfices on his pencil line tip are clean.
