@glamourennui I certainly don't think she could ever have imagined that would happen! And don't forget she saved his life by pulling out the teeth that were lodged in his throat.
@glamourennui—I'm sure he felt terrible about going to his good friend's party. So selfish of her to have a party and invite him, wasn't it? BTW, she did a lot of charitable work so what exactly are you getting at?!
Low-cost psychedelia movies apart, in 1966, Monty Clift mostly resembled to Bower's character. His pills+booze abused habit just led him to act in such craps like this. Monty has been a great actor, absolutely a sensitive sympathetic performer artist. Watching him throughout junk he did out of his mind, gets me sick indeed. Please, check out his proper, acting career. Do not idolatrate him as a weirdo.
WOW...i've never seen this film, but i'm surprised that, considering he had been an alcoholic for so many years, suffered from so many different ailments and was in the final weeks of his life...he actually looks really GOOD here, I think even better than he did in THE MISFITS or JUDGEMENT AT NUREMBERG. It's a shame he never got to make REFLECTIONS IN A GOLDEN EYE...
The Hardy Krueger voice keeps reminding me of his moustache role a few years later as the Prussian officer--'Dieser Mann ist unter Arrest!'--in Kubrick's 'Barry Lyndon.'
@bullfrog11758 Actually it DID disfigure him worse than you see here...he'd had some repair work done just before the movie. When I first saw this, decades ago, I reacted the same way--he's skinny, older, but looks a lot like his younger self.
He didn´t want to make this movie, because he thought the script wasn´t perfect. He only did it to prove the studio that he´s still in good shape, physically and mentally, so that they would gave him a leading role next to Liz Taylor in their next movie about closeted homosexual. She demanded Monty to be her co-star!
I really appreciate you putting this on. thanks so much. Yes, he was still very very beautiful. And an excellent and extremely focused and meticulous actor. Very professional .
I've been searching ard for a while to see his films...thanks for sharing... I saw The Search and fell in love with him right then man haha...even taped the movie...
Well done for putting this on, but please put on the scene where Monty is visited in his hotel room by a brunette who strips. Does anyone know this actress's name? Thanks.
I do not remember the scene of which you speak. When Ive next got some free time I'll watch the film again and see if I can find what youre talking about
I've seen every movie Montgomery Clift ever Made EXCEPT this one. It's seems impossible to find a copy. THANK YOU!! so much for posting some clips from it :-) I so wish I could find a copy of the whole film.
It took me a very long time to find this film - his other hard to find films, Freud and The Search, were comparatively easy... I eventually found it using the IMDB forums. Hope that's of some help to you.
oh beautiful!!!!!! i wish he wouldn't have died.....

@glamourennui- c'mon. While I imagine Elizabeth Taylor could be selfish, I'm sure she didnt imagine he'd wrap his car around a tree.
