History shows that innocent lives are the main culprait because militaries are educated whereas the innocent civilians that are often effected are uneducated and must learn as they go. Yeah I find it really sad that Starfleet is operating with more homeworlds and resources than either of the the Romulan kilngon empires and the cardassians put together and yet they have fleets of old moff balled starships they should have dismantled them for the materials and built fleets of galaxy and intrepids by then and even if they can't have managed to build enough they surely should have a few fleets of ambassadors at their disposal for a super power they are super backwards!

the minefield prevents use of the wormhole.

the bajoran sector is very close to the Cardassian border. it would be impossible for starfleet to defend it in the first stages of the war when the Dominion were far superior.

that's why Sisko told the bajorans to sign a treaty with the Dominion. loosing DS9 was inevitable at this stage since the dominion were determined to take it at all cost. that's why it was better to let them take it while using the distraction to destroy their main shipyards

Affirmative. Interestingly enough, Sisco's should have learned from the greatest Captain ever, J.T. Kirk. Kirk followed proven conventional tactics. When retreating leave nothing behind the enemy can use against you. Unfortunately, Sisco should have destroyed the base or booby-trapped it to go up upon the arrival of intruders. Kirk would have known that. It's funny to believe that after +6k years of warfare, man would forget how to wage war in just a couple of centuries. Unrealistic.

Sisko planned to come back and retake the station, he didn't want to destroy it.

he did completely disable it though so that the Dominion would need a long time to repair everything before they can use it

Firstly, thanks for posting these clips. You did a great job. On the other hand, my statement was purely from a realistic point of view. The real reason why the base was not destroyed, (in my opinion) is because the show is based around it. Were it not the case, and if the producers wanted to provide a realistic gritty account of the war, that base would be destroyed by any competent leader.

the Dominion wants to prove to the rest of the alpha quadrant that they're true to their word.

and Odo is a founder so the Dominion treat him with respect.

and quark is a ferengi so they just assume he'll be loyal to whoever pays him
