Best song ever.. Just another drop to join the sea of tears....
How unbelievable that great things don't last, that good people go early and the bad one seem to live forever.... I really wonder and still wondering. Ooops just another drop ... Million thanks 22Matsoua for posting this great masterpiece. God Bless you!!!!
Nakomi tuna, mondele akende..Lipanda tozuwaka o ya nani e? ee Afrikaaaa! This tune is Priceless..... Amongst the great of the Greates sons of mother Africa, there is Franklin Boukaka
For many of us still believe that freedom and true independence will be given to us by some Messianic Western country or some benevolent international organisation,
When our History tells us loudly the contrary!
Until Africans stand up to fight to death for their freedom and independence; neo-colonialism, the modern Slavery, will continue to cripple Africa
I have forever linked this song for time when things stood still in Cameroon when we knew we will not win the cup. But what a masterpiece of a song, it brings tears every time I hear it. The lyrics are very simple yet very relevant to our current situation. This Youtube post is the first I have of this song since mid 70s.
And then in 1972 when Cameroon hosted the 8th edition of the African Nations Cup, Le Bucheron and another great instrumental specifically composed by Manu for that tournament were the theme songs. At this time I was in secondary school in form one. We listen to ANC over radio at the time no TV yet. Then in the semi final Cameroon lost 1:0 to Congo Brazzaville and the notion went into mourning. At that moment on radio Le Bucheron played.
For me, it evokes belle époque and a sort of nostalgic melancholy of my formative years. I cant get over the haunting melodies of this lamenting masterful work by Franklin that are ingrained in my brain forever. Boukaka died very young at aged 32 years in Congo Brazzaville. Africa truly lost one of its best at his prime.
that we Africans (and our neocolonial governments we support) are killers of our own brothers who are brilliant and visionary and could have saved us!
like a suicidal tendency African post-colonial societies have: Lumumba was killed by his own kind in his own country, same with Sankara, Rodney, Malcom X, Savimbi, Luther King, Ouandje, Moumie, Boukaka... the list will not end, and those of ourselves we killed are the best ever of us. How sad!
I remember sitting as child in front of my parents' Sanyo transistor radio and being transfixed by the sweet melancholy of this song. Decades later, this song still works its magic. Thanks ever so much.

Great song, great words,
sad they are still so true 40 years later.
And we Africans are to blame, yes!
