  • Nice church and beautiful performance! Thanks for sharing n_n

  • Trillos?

  • Beautiful. I've never heard of or heard this instrument before, what a shame it isn't used more often in the modern era.

  • Fabulous instrument, music and musician. What more could anyone ask!

  • This is a gorgeous instrument, and it makes me sad to not see more music for it.

  • Really a pleasure to listen! Thank you very much!

  • 3 voice majors didn't like this

  • It is very disapointed to see this page for comments used for uneducated people to show very clear that their poor education is not enough to rescue them from the animal stage. Robert de Visee probably did not dream that his fantastic piece will be interpreted as Jonas Nordberg did. This is an exceptional interpretation animals!

  • Fantastic interpretation played with the soul of the artist.Excelent!!!!

  • @integral844 No one will ever take you the slightest bit seriously until you learn to: a) be less of a spiteful ball of fury, and b) spell "baroque."

  • @integral844 You know, I take it back. Keep it up, you're hilarious when you try to form coherent sentences!

  • @XCantXEscapeXFateX thanks whenever i form such sentences i end up in very rude manners though no one told me this kind of compliment dude

  • Très belle version, merci à Mr. Jonas.

  • Great, thank you !

  • "no, i'll just take it on the bus.

what do you mean I have to pay extra for it?

because it's to big? i fucking carry it around all day, and you come to me and say it's to big!?"

  • Need a theorbo player? Why not Nordberg?

  • Excellent playing, but where's the audience? Is this a trend? I'm worried.

  • vilken stil teorb är detta? Är det italiensk eller fransk stil?

  • This is so beautiful. Tack Jonas

  • hes good...

  • Excellent playing, excellent video, enthralling to watch & sublime music.

    Steve

  • must be a bitch to tune!

  • @arockmonkey55 Do you mean to say that it is difficult to tune? Or do you mean to say that he must have someone to tune it for him?

  • BIG ass GUITARE

  • Tack för underbar musik och fantastiskt spel!

    Marita

  • @ghostofdayinperson I suppose he does have the babe-magnet to end all babe-magnets.

  • @kkallebb indeed. I will send my minions to capture him at once! Then he will be MY sex slave. I will behead all females who try to charm him moohoohahahahaha! MINE

  • Meravigliosa,non saprei aggiungere altro

  • what a sound real artist greal instrument

  • that is just fantastic!!

  • Tribute to Jonas, a Swedish Lutenist: Peculiarly sublime & graceful, this pale as alabastar, strikingly elegant man in black with the slender hands of an artist reminds me of the little figurines inside of a music box; his being is captivated & at one with the music such that the instrument is an extension of his enthralled soul pouring out his heartbeat in an intricate stream of tender notes of supplicant adoration. -Cynthia Quispe

  • Hallo Jonas,

das ist ein wunderbares Video geworden! Gratuliere! Deine Interpretation strahlt all die Ruhe und Spannung aus die für diese Musik wichtig ist. Sehr musikalisch - tolle Interpretation. Mach weiter so!

    Hans

  • This, of course, is not a theorbo. The theorbo was strung in double courses.

Your playing sounds very much like a guitarists, maybe due to the a-historic sound and affected performance style. It also seems like an odd idea -- though rather common -- to play a lute or one of its relatives, in a church with acoustics so "wet" they entirely conceal the true, intimate but reverberant, sound of the instrument.

  • If I were capable of playing theorbo this well and then turning around and playing the Aranjuez on guitar, narrow-minded criticism based on incorrect statements would wash off me pretty easily. But I'll defend him anyway: First of all, single-strung theorbos are described in historical sources from both France and Italy.

Secondly, playing in churches reflects an attempt to place the instrument in an accoustic closer to that of the instrument's original venues, with stone and wooden surfaces.

  • I think when you say he sounds like a guitarist, you might be hearing the fact that he is playing with nails. I assume he does so because he plays classical guitar as well as theorbo. Before you go and tell me this is "a-historic" go check the sources, for example Picinini, on theorbo playing. Why waste time trying to decide whether this man is a 'guitarist' or a 'lutenist'? He's a musician, thats what counts.

  • Very well played, with great feeling! I wish you success in your career as a performer.

  • Congratulations my friend, your performance is wonderful, impressing ... hope to meet you soon again for a beer so you explain to why you suddenly excel in playing the theorbe !!! :)

  • Dear Jonas:

Just to say, this is the best youtube video that I ever seen on Youtube. World class tone is not accident. Is just beautiful.

    your friend Emerson Salazar

  • Jättebra, ser fram til å høre mer musikk for thorbe.

  • Comment removed

  • World class.

  • Can't say I have anything or anyone to compare with, but you really do make that curious piece of wood sound very good. This music makes me long for D&D in a way.

Nice camera work aswell :) A nice video indeed.
