  • Very nice and beautiful Taylor, I want it! Mine's a GS4e-Fall Ltd. Read a few of the idiotic comments. They expect you to reach out of the screen and shape their hands to the right voicings of the chords and then strum it for them? "AND I PLAY FRIGGN GUITAR!!!!", poorly I would imagine. lol He describes exactly how to voice the chords. Our failed edu system. lol. Just stumbled on this song while putting a set list together for a show this weekend and had to see that voicing, thanks Steve.

  • How do u tune a 12 string? Is the 2nd set a 6 steps lower than the first or is it the same but on a higher octave?

  • @bashfulbong you tune the 2nd string to what ever string its beside like your A string you would have a big and little A string

  • well that's 35 seconds i won't get back

  • Well, I just understood how to play the whole song, thanks to this video. I don't know for the others, but it worked for me !

  • How incredibly lame. I didnt expect a run-through of the entire song, or even all the chords, but you even managed to avoid explaining how you are playing the first chord, other than 2nd finger on 7th fret, E string for a Bm note, and muting two other strings. Worthless video, AND I PLAY FRIGGN GUITAR!!!!

  • @sdmc222 I said the same thing but then realized this is a preview of the lesson, you gotta go to the website in the description to get the full 25 minute lesson

  • Ed Roland's songwriting is simple, yet perfect.

  • thes videos dont show anything thanks for nothing

  • @Adamsirocz28 Actually, they show enough to get you started IF you know any guitar at all.

  • sounds incredible on the 12 string wow

  • Ed Roland is brilliant and very deep.

  • I love the sound of 12 string guitars! =]

    the vest sound of guitars!

  • agreed

  • Well, on my video, I don't show you the WHOLE song, just this part. But I break it down so you can get the authentic sound from just a 6 string. Go check it out if you still need to learn how to play this.

  • lol im learning that song

  • If only you couldnt find all this for free or just buy there tab book in the first place.

but i don't see much point in this otherwise as you need to show a bit more then this to gain anyones attention.

    Good luck anyways.

  • I've seen this song performed by Collective Soul live in concert and on video and never noticed a 12 string. Other guitarists on YT do it with a 6 string and it sounds just fine. I haven't yet done it with my 12 string Gibson. My 6 string Yamaha and Alvarez guitars do it just fine. Collective Soul's Roland usually uses a fine Taylor for this riff. There's lots of tab sites to show you exactly how it's played and lots of guitarists prefer to tune down half a step to nail it.

  • if you want to perfectly nail this song you have to use 12 string acoustic guitar!

  • Good advice. Thanks!

  • @RealVampire2008 you got it

  • Oh please. Why do you even bother? Nobody is learning anything. Maybe the first 3 chords. The whole song doesn't comprise of 3 chords. This is useless.

  • I always wanted to have a 12 string just to play this song!

  • What a dick this sucks

  • Does anyone know of a better lesson than this??

  • LOL

  • Do you think you are withholding such great knowledge that you couldn't post the whole lesson for the general public? Please...this whole song only has 5 chords. You've inspired me, NOT an award-winning guitar teacher to post a FULL version showing how to play this song.

  • Teaching a complete song on Youtube without permission is actually an illegal infringement of copyright law, although record companies do not often prosecute. These are previews of full-length videos available on this company's website. A company, as opposed to someone sitting in their bedroom filming a video, would be at risk for a lawsuit.

  • its not considered copyright infringement if what you are demonstrating is "your interpretation", or how YOU think it is played. which is why most tab sites are still running.

  • iVideosongs focus as a comanay is to teach complete songs, as originally interpreted by the artist who popularized it. They are not 'interpretations' and we pay a full royalty back to the artist and the music publisher. It is very different than a free tab site, where there are no royalties or rights involved.

  • thats cool that you do pay royalties. at least people will know that what you are teaching is authentic.

  • But still, pretty much all of the "Learn to play X" videos are 36 seconds long... so you wouldn't really be learning to play that song, just the part you show
