Fuck!! only relying on the B's i got from coursework that make up 50% of overall grade to get me through this year at least :(( FUCK!

  • my motivation was my freedom :)

  • cheers mate, v helpfull

  • Great video! Iv found in my memory study project the following:

Barroque Classical is said to be the best music to study to. Have the context of your studies (Ie the place) the same as that of the exam. Study in 20 minutes sessions with 5 minutes inbetween unless your on a roll where you just carry on. Only do 7 chunks of information anymore and the short term memory will forget it before it goes into the long term memory.

  • nice tips =)

  • Thank you soooo much for this video!

  • Damn... I wish I found this vid little earlier. I have an exam tomorrow, I hope I will do a good job. Thanks mate, great piece!

  • @MonstahhB that was my next tip, but I ran out of time :p

  • Lol porn, sooo tru!

    Thanks heaps mate! :-D

  • Amazing advice! I really like the video. And although I already knew about many things you talked about, I'll favourite the video and make sure I'll stick to the advice. Thanks!

  • I got 5 A's at A level, got a 2.1 in my degree but not becasue I did not cover all topics, cause I fucked up a couple of papers!!! SUCKS BIG TIME! My grades just started getting worse every fucking yaer of my life since then, I feel I am a retard now.

  • this is a very detailed and useful video! the most useful one for me coz my high school exams are in this school year. i still unable to find any good music for study, can any1 HELP me with that?

  • and i see this just after i have finshed my exams LOL! but still got good results soo awk well :D

  • Here. i failed a first time in a test on a second time I got a 72. i study for the last one and I hope to make it through.... Anybody can succeed if they really want to.

  • Thanks. But thats does not apply to a child with learning disablities like me. I go to one of the top ten of the universities in the world. I study 2 weeks before a test. And I always do my best to get a stupid 75,or 80 , or a fail. It did applied to me when I was a child struggling to remain in a regular elemantary school so they won't throw me out to a school adjusted for children with learning disabilities in which you never get a diploma. And can not reach university. If I can everybody

  • @Tehila891 can. You guys have no ideas how hard it is to be born defected and struggle against yourself. You all can do that if you will think of people like me who had no other choice , but to struggle. Here in about two days I have a test which I began to study to it 2 weeks ago . I finished the reasding metarial and now I am going through older tests. I am petrified because I failed th efirst test and I studied to it two weeks before...So now I am going to go through these tests again .

  • Thanks this very help me

  • @sarahsktr You're welcome!

  • Fantastic advice mate ; keep this up. I have always found and continue to do so, that if you work with exam papers , know the exam format and pay attention to the emphasis a lecturer makes in a class, you can pretty much make a reasonable prediction on what is likely to come up. It's like a game but very risky one as I have found out this year ( hehe still managed to score high but it was a reality check). As for group studies I dont believe it works! and practice doing exam papers -only way

  • @kahm1988 True true!

  • love the fact that youtube = fail...well if it wasnt for youtube I never would have seen this vid :D

  • Ye lotta 8 an 9 not so much uther ! Lmfao

  • Thank's a lot .This is really helpful , i've my exams on june 15th :(

I'm too stressed out, hate mediciiiiiiiiiiiiiine :s

  • i failed all your tips except number 8, i think im doing that too much :P

  • I got a week of exams so stressful great vid anyways

  • All this advise to me is like when people first heard the Earth wasn't flat...

  • @Scurvyforall wait, the Earth isn't flat??

  • @LiveAndLetDice Nope, it isn't. Do some research :)

  • All this advise to me is like when people first heard the Earth wasn't flat...

  • I have no motivation, i try, i fail and i feel like i could just give up on everything and hope it just turns out ok. Honestly i dont need A's. I would be happy with a B or C :P I dont want to be a doctor or lawyer or scientist.

  • I LEFT IT TOO LATE AND HAVE THE FEAR!!!!!!!!

    Help :'(

I have one day to cover a year's work. Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

  • done my exams 87% in spanish :D

Nice vid m8. I already did all of that :)

  • This was really excellent, and seems to substantiate that the British education system is obviously superior, in broad strokes, to the general education available in the U.S.A.

  • i don't think thats right. education in the us is much more broad whereas here its focussed down so much more to like three or four subjects (in sixth form) and we have no general aptitude tests that show basic intelligence.

  • @rcgesh01 — ah, but what education? the US has Elementary (ages 6 thru 12), Secondary (13 thru 18), & post-Secondary (2 or 4 yr college, or short-term certificate training in a variety of skills). I am a licensed teacher of Secondary English, & I believe most Secondary US students would be hopeless in British exams given to a corresponding age group. the No Child Left Untested initiative of the Bush administration and collapsing of State treasuries have eliminated a lot of variety.

  • Great vid - i wish i saw it earlier. I have my first exam on friday and the rest a few weeks after. How do i stay off facebook? I just can't :(

  • @LautnerKatrina you can! just don't sign in! after a couple days you'll realise nothing disastrous has happened!! good luck :D

  • @LiveAndLetDice i have tried but i feel like im missing out on stuff, i have tried it all - it's like im addicted to it. It's not good :(

  • GREAT TIPS oh and ur reallly hott :D okay that was totally inappropraite but it had to be said.

  • i actually watched this because i'm skiving from revision

  • Honest and genuine tips :D i personally have been doing this structure of revision for a long time and it really pays off. Not sure about the question spotting though ha! I think people can really better themselves if they follow these steps, even if it is hard and fakin annoing at first to get into a routine and stick to it....... cools x

p.s. uni astrophysics - dont do it :)

  • thnx, this is reli helpful, i will defo do the plan a topic a day thing!!!

somehow i feel tht revision isnt as bad as it seens.

    thnx soo much :)

  • wow im having my igcses this year June10... dint study at ALL for tomorrow's exam was hoping to find a leaked paper online but this really motivated me !! thank you soo much !

  • omg shes hot, but youtubes not gud for hot nude models, go have a look at Rudey tube , awesome short videos

  • my motivation is most definitely my aspiration :)

  • Cute guy on my screen alert! now thats a distraction within itself :p!

  • cute guy on my screen alert! woo :D

  • I jus saw this video and its very good but my exams are next week. What should i do? please help me

  • @CoasTbeaTs honestly? get off youtube/facebook/msn etc, spend half a day making a revision timetable and getting all your study stuff together then just hit the books! first couple days will be the toughest but everytime you find yourself losing focus try and get back into it right away. good luck!

  • @LiveAndLetDice

How many hours a day would you recommend working during term time? i.e. when you're not in the run up to exams. And how long prior to exams should you begin your revision and how many hours a day should you do?

  • @cautionslippery1 Depends on your course etc... But if you can I would advise keeping up with work during the term, than it's ONLY revision; makes it 100X easier. I.e. your friends might not of done as much work leading up to the exam than you, so a couple weeks prior to the exam you can just work at your own pace, unlike your friends who would be doing the 'mad scientist method' as mentioned above (false method) but you get what im saying

  • thanks! really needed this..imma go revise now!

  • What university is that, what degree?

  • organized*

  • I can't listen to music while studying. I JUST CAN'T!!

I tend to read things out loud, write key ideas on a piece of paper at the side and draw stuff related to the contents of the exam.

I also use these "mnemotechnic" strategies, like making words using the initial letters of several concepts haha

    Nice video :)

  • i am so failing my goddam uni lawexams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! iv literally got days 2 revise. aghhh

  • @MissM1991 how did it go?!

  • @LiveAndLetDice well if i had followed ur great advice from the beginning i would've passed no problem. Instead i revised for 3 out of my 4 exams the day before :(. But i think i definetly managed D's and E's cos thats all i need 2 pass as i did good in my coursework n that counts as 50%. If not, im either retaking a year or gettin kicked out. i'll see when i get my results i guess. Law is so BORING. tc.x

  • man you rockk, cheers for thiss!

  • Great video. In regards to your note taking, did you read a chapter and make a few pages of notes, and then straight after condense it into one page? Cheers

  • i think this video just instilled the fear in me :|

    first to finish this dissertation....

    :s

  • You absoloute hero !! Honestly bro you have just inspired me to start revising hard ! I have done all my notes, but failed to start. I still have 5/6 weeks left so still got plenty of time providing I start now. Your greatest point is about the gamble part. Once again thanks man !!

  • Aw geeze. I'm watching this after browsing through your channel instead of revising/ doing coursework!

  • Haha, I am in revision, I knew about this video on Facebook, and watch it on youtube so I will obviously fail

  • @citrinemerry Fear! haha, i think fear plays a big part and I struggle to get things started before I realise I'm really running out of time. But starting is the key really, it's always the hardest part. And the more you do the more motivated you become...doing nothing and putting stuff off becomes a negative cycle and you really struggle to get going. Planning my time, making a start, and cutting all distractions is what works best for me :)

  • thanks gotta horible engineering exam friday

  • hope your exam went well today!

  • @LiveAndLetDice Hey, great video man, I have my Scottish highers in May, five of them! and these are the qualifications I need to get into Uni. Can you tell me what music you listened to when revising, and should I avoid fizzy drinks when revising?

  • this is awesome

  • really great vid!

And don't just write things down, but TALK about them to someone and explain them - even if it's just to yourself. But best is someone who isn't studying the same, so they will ask you questions. By explaining those you revise once again and it stays in your brain. However, they should also have a slight idea what you're talking about, otherwise you'll have to explain too much basic stuff you already know by heart.

  • Very true, I always imagine having to teach it to someone else...

  • man, thank you so much. your advises actually really helped! :)

  • thank you so much this really helped xx :)

  • Alternatively adopt the mad scientist approach; my personal method of choice :

Spend majority of time leading upto exams mentally preparing yourself for revision.

Cram revision in last week or few days, in isolation & hibernation, literally taking no breaks.

Dont shave or cut your hair youve got no time.

Adopting a steady diet of red bull and smokes.

Points 1,3,5,7,9 are all relevant to this approach.

  • @rock956 haha you rock. i do the mad scientist approach too.

  • @rock956 haha thats what ends up happening all the time lool

  • I lack motivation, and just like 'rockeer' I have a hard exam tomorrow too. Maths...

  • Hard exam tommorow...if I pass...I will start praying

  • Thank you, that's a really useful video.

  • that helped. Thanks alot man,

  • are mock exams what are shown to colleges as important as gcses?

  • Please

LiveAndLetDice tell me what music is playing :)

  • It's called Tour Bus from the jingles folder in iMovie :)

  • Thnx mate unfortunately I dont have imovie.. Is it possible that you could send it for me?

As a thank, I could draw a caricature of your face/head for you for free.

    Plz

  • start already is what i need but hard to do

  • This was great help! but what about assignments which i find sooo much harder :(

(especially to concentrate for extended periods of time)

  • That was a really useful video. Also, just went on your channel and subscribed after watching "names, names, names" It was hilarious. Really good stuff, keep it up.

By the way, any chance on making a video on how to get motivated? I find I have loads of work to do but can never get motivated to do it in the first place.

    Thanks,

    Steven

  • Thanks Steven... I struggle with motivation myself haha, but will post any tips if I discover a breakthrough!

  • cheers buddy this is very useful :)

  • well, I have a teacher's exam tomorrow, so wish me luck buddy!

  • Hope it went well, are you a fully qualified teacher now?!

  • Yes, J! I passed my teacher's exam and I received my teaching credential/license in the mail today. I am now a qualified to teacher elementary school.

  • Cool video, can i ask, what degree did you do? :)

  • Hey, thanks....I did biology...and now I'm a biochem postgrad..crazy!

  • I have an exam 9am tomorrow and just spent 6mins 39seconds of my revision time watching this video... But fair play, good video. If i could follow everything you said on that video i wouldn't be resitting in the first place! I love this bit where you say after 40mins to an hour you will lose concentration, i lose it after 10 :P

  • Im getting my IB results tomorrow, i'll be able to confirm if youtube does prevent you from success

  • I finished my IB exams a while ago, so I couldn't use this to help me. But it does seem helpful for the future - thanks!

  • im 14, i have 4 real gcse's within the next week, the first ones tomoro! i have had laodsa time to revise but i keep putting it off and today i have to cram it all in haha, and even now im putting it off!! but i defo agree facebook & stuff r a big distraction.

  • hope they went well! you must be clever if you're doing them that early!

  • i have exams to morrow and im away to study now so thnx 4 de tips. . . .

  • hope they went well!

  • hey my concentration aint really good....

i kinda study 1 hour and take and hour break...how much long break do u suggest after one hour study.?

  • studying for one hour at a time is fine, just try to gradually reduce the length of the breaks down to around 15-20minutes... as you get into it you'll find your concentration improves!

  • Such good advice...except maybe the one about sleeping in the library! lol

  • thanks for they advice, i have got my GCSE's in 2 days so i am going to crack on with it. lol

  • eeeeppp im revisin my ass off atm for exams in the first 3 days of june! need straight A's to get into medical school :( i hate how much pressure you have on your shoulders when it's medicine...

  • I'm wanting to do English Literature and I have to get straight As. It's not just medicine these days.

  • hope they went well and you're on course for med school!

  • Thank you, but i wished things were easy as u said. i have 2 exams in less than and a week :(

  • Thanks for your advice, I got my GCSE's in a month so i'm going to take your advice and hopefully get good grades! Top video!

  • Cheers mate, ill defo try my best to do all those. Also any advice on how to write a good set of notes, as in one of my exams I'm allowed to take in notes.

  • is its ur class?

  • hey! yea, that's one of the lecture theatres at my university...

  • Once I figured out "revision" meant "study" I found the video very helpful!!!

  • I love exam time!!! I like the pressure and I always work very well under such circumstances, it's exhilarating!!! oh btw, holy shnikeys that light is BRIGHT!!! GL on exams homie

  • damn your weird... you love exams?!?

  • Some great tips, but it really showed how different exams in the UK are. Essay exams were fairly uncommon when I was in college, & I don't think there was ever past tests available.

I always found the most important thing in doing well was attending every single class & knowing what type of prof you were dealing with. Most give subtle hints (or unsubtle :)) of what will be on exams & what they find important. You can even use your own questions in class to clarify what they find most essential.

  • My uni exams were typically answer 5/8 short answer qs (around 300 words each), then 2-3 essays which were always a killer!

I always felt attending all the classes was the least I could do, especially considering the fees I was paying...and like you say, they often give out hints! in final year the lecture content was the bare minimum though, you really had to through in some extra reading knowledge in the exams to get the good marks...

  • I'd say 80% of the tests I took were multiple choice. Occasionally they'd have one or two short essay questions at the end.

I only ever had one prof who gave full essay exams, and he'd worked at Oxford previously :) (best class I ever took though).

It always amazed me how many people just didn't come to class. It's so wasteful and irresponsible! But maybe they had more fun that I did in college :D

  • this will seriously help me thankyou ! =)
