The Chorus Effect is so clean & good that EC let the other guitarist shine in his own way - ton's of energy together - LOL there was also Chris S. doing his thing on the organ - looking nearly the same,.
Yes, this recording was from 1985, not "07". Maybe we just get too wrapped up in this (dot)year stuff nowadays; and make too many assumptions about what the poster 'intends' us to understand. I've had this "bootleg" old-school VHS tape for 25 years now. Tim Renwick was rocking in '85. I believe he played with Paul McCartney at about that time too.
I know this was written by Eric and originally performed by the Cream, but I hear so much George Harrison and the Beatles influence in this song. Anyone else hear it too?
I know that George Harrison wrote that song for Eric and its name was "Bridge", but Eric read it as "Badge" by a mistake, then they all liked that name...
@kingofskateop Nope. the bridge is the transition in the song. But yes Eric read it up side down and thought that GH had some kind of strange notation and was calling a part of the song for badge.
I love this version of badge. that very fine strat tone can only be controlled by a select few and e.c. is one of them. it is just so twangy and delicate. i really enjoyed his playing during this period in his career because he started using some really fine equipment made especially for him like his amps.
Don't you notice that the wheel goes 'round. And you'd better pick yourself up off the ground, before they pull the curtain down. Yes before they pull the curtain down.
I never was a big fan of his Blackie guitar. I've always prefered the sound of Brownie paired with a vibroking or Marshall(whatever he used in Derek and the Dominos), it had a much ballseyer sound to it. Blackie got pretty thin sound in this vid.
been a huge fan since live aid, seen him live twice in 1989 and again this year.the mans an absolute icon, would have loved to have been at this concert in hartford connecticut in 85 as his playing is 1st rate.makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck !
Finally after almost 40 years Badge was completed. The original version left you hanging after the Guitar solo. I have been waiting since the 60's for this. Not Cream with Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce but still good.
Eric was sitting at his kitchen table, with George H., who helped Clapton write this song.
They got hung up on a lone that would fit in with, "Yes, and you bettr pick yourself up off the ground," when Ringo walked in, quite drunk, listened to them go over the line a few times, said "before they bring the curtain down," and walked in the next room and passed out on the couch.
The drummers, got a fucking mullet for fucks sake. He's also shite.

I think this is the best version of the song I've heard. Nice clean sound from Clapton and great solos from him and Tim Renwick.

Where is the bass? I can't hear it very well. What a shame as the bassline is terrific on this song. However lovely song. Many thanks.

Clapton is just one of those artists that actually sound better live than in a studio.
"Crossroads" live is so much better than the studio version
Same with "White Room"
Same with "Badge"
One of the best live acts in the world.
