  • Great!

  • SO CUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Go Roman! you rock!!

  • to sou borci

  • the harmonics played on the bass are beautiful

  • 真是又好聽...又好笑(他的表情)

    尤其是小提琴的滑音真是漂亮.

    真..精采..贊!!!!!

  • Vengerov is the best violin I've ever seen, but..... The fantastic bass player took his light.....

  • face expression showdown!!!!!!!!!

  • was it in fast motion?

  • just INSANELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!! i want to be like you when i grow up.

  • What is that. Just wonderfullllll!

  • i probably watched this a thousand times by myself...

    =3=

    hehe

  • same here rofl

  • My Goodness that bass player is AMAZING!!!! It is like dueling banjos just going back and forth

  • LMAO!!! I was pissing myself most of the way through this! I mean it just SHOULDN'T be possible to do that on a bass! =P

  • the best version of CZARDAS i `ve never heard who is the doublebass solo player!!!! he plays just amazing

  • roman patkolo

  • LOL..love it !

  • just. . . . .brilliant (claps)

  • spettacolare !!!

  • ha ha ha :)

  • Simply Amazing!!

  • LOL!!!! Awesome!!!

  • sounds beautiful

  • OMG! BRAVO!

  • perfect! great! the masters of the 21st century!

  • Very funny at 2:32

  • FANTASTYCZNY

  • Vengerov , genius and inspiration like the old masters

  • Damn!

  • grandioso, fenomenal fantastico!!!

    Bravo!!!

  • beautiful, the art with God besides

  • Ezzel a zenével nem lehet azonosulni, mert elragad és fogva tart! Feledhetetlen! A két zseni ráérzett erre.

  • Vengerov és Patkoló különleges ,szuggesszív egyéniségek, fantasztikus egyéni stilusban adják elő. Maradandó élmény!

  • If you can do better.............!!

  • The 2 bass players on the right are so out of time at some parts! It's lovely to listen to vengerov and the bass player on the left, but it seems a little underrehearsed in places...

  • What a bass player

  • the face of vengerov XD

  • The best version of czardas for me, very entertaining. 10 stars for you guys. Do they have an album?

  • My GOD they are having fun!!

    Are they twins?

  • such amazing flair on the instruments!

  • A legjobb elöadás,amit valaha hallottam,két zseni

elöadásában. Kár,hogy a felvétel nem jó! Vengerov erőteljes ,szikrázó előadásmódja mellett nem tud érvényesülni Román Patkoló

    zseniális,de halk előadásmódja. Szerencsére az

    előadás második felében sokkal jobb.

    Igazi tánczene!

  • I!!

  • does anyone know how to play the harmonics shown in the vid? cause when i lightly touch the strings, eg 'g', i will always get a g harmonic, no matter where i press( i meant the double bass)

  • they're not actual harmonics, they're artificial harmonics

  • Comment removed

  • nigel kennedy doesnt play this nearly as well - these men play from the heart, he plays from a sheet of music....and i can't take him seriously with that STUPID HAIR-CUT!!

  • lovers of classical post "I"

  • I!!

  • A friend and I recently played a cello violin rendition of this.

We most certainly were not this good, but Czardas is most certainly my favorite song to play. So playful.

  • wow that is unreal. Bravo.

  • vibrant

  • the real reason they're smug is because its a freaking bass player playing a violin song. its like semi in a formula 1 race he's trying not to laugh

  • I would be smug if i could play like that, you will appreciate the professionism and dedication more if your use your ears and not your eyes.

  • I think this is in D minor, then it modulates to D major, then back to D minor..Their faces are so smug, like they're competing with each other..

    I hv perfect pitch

  • it's incredible. brams hearing you.

  • maxhansendk YOU make me want to puke! Vengerov's face is the imagine of his soul's bliss!!!

  • ok, this is truly UNREAL and AMAZING,

but why those palyers smug faces??

was this concert some gay gala?

  • WOW! that was amazing!

  • can anyone tell me what key this is in?

  • yes the hungarian classic music are the best, very proud that i`m hungarian

  • wow the bassist use the fucking bass as a violin!!!

    ... good!! amazing

  • Bar-E_Kallah, Marhaba, I love U Maxim!

  • maravilhoso,nota 10,very weel,mui bien,coisa de outro mundo- Brazil-

  • Vengerovs "smug face" makes me want to puke!

  • so true! he is still bloody good though. But he was out played by the bassists!!

  • this song is super nice...

  • that is just...amazing. i just couldn't imagin a bass playing this yet here it is! i am astounded, they deserve a 10......out of 5

  • :O jesus :O christ :O !!!!! :O

  • fucking great bassist!!

it's amazing what he can do with a contrabass...

  • valamijen erdekesegek hol keresem .Koszi

  • ....If it was for contest =D

  • what?

  • HUNGARIANS ROCKS !!

  • even though the word "incredible" has been used once too often, i still must say this: INCREDIBLE

lol the bassist's sautille( if thats wad its called for the double base) is totally imba, and he plays it like its something really simple. Love their interpretation of Monti's Czardas.

We see incredible violinists, but rarely do we see such an outstanding bassist. Great Song!!!!!

  • I'm never going to be able to play the bass like that, though I love it. Amazing! Shows you what the old man can do when he wants to.

  • i thought this is supposed to be for violin.

  • Because they are great musician...and they enjoy the sound of eachother.......

  • If i could play like that, I'd have the biggest fucking grin ever on my face.

  • Kiikobird, the Beatles never went to music school...

  • Kiakobird, they are really good musicians. You are just criticing because you can not do that.

  • arriba los contrabajos maxin vengerov no le llevo vida jajaja

  • mt bom!!!!

  • Bravi !! tutti e due

  • wow.... that bass player was unreal

i have played with some good bassists, but they have never played such tricky melodies

  • Yes, those are false harmonics. You play them by fingering the bottom (black) note as printed, but you put the top note (the hollow one) as a very light finger, creating a tuned whistle. In other words, you play the root note, and lightly touch the string a perfect fourth above.

I don't know why someone spammed your message it was a perfectly legitimate question.

  • thank you for the helpful advice, I recently figured it out, but it will take some practice before I can pull it off with a nice tone

  • exelente ,ejecucion muy bien

  • Wow!! ºoº

  • simply wonderful tapeworm time of not hearing something so good Patkaló you are the best one!

  • Super Super Super bravi !.

  • Roman Patkoló is amazing! Never heard a contrabassist play this way!

    Bravo Maestro!

  • Patkolo just ís the best!

  • Kik ezek az amúgy tényleg elég ügyeskezű gyerekek? Arabok, zsidók vagy cigányok?

  • Maxim Vengerov orosz. De imadja a magyarokat, mivel a neve azt jelenti "magyar". (Kozben meg nem magyar.) Patkoló pedig cigány.

  • Köszönöm a válaszodat, közben megtaláltam a Wikin. Aszongya, hogy: "Maxim Alexandrovich Vengerov (Hebrew: מקסים וונגרוב‎, born August 20, 1974) is a Russian violin virtuoso who was born in the Soviet Union."

  • When sombody is a master... there is nothing important to say.....

  • Comment removed

  • out of tune my ass

  • this seriously made my day... wow that bass player... and vengerov of course :D

  • che spettacolo!!

  • They are both fantastic players, but what is with their facial expressions throughout the whole piece.

  • wow those are some good chops

  • I really need to add a comment!!! I just can't believe that can be played with a bass!!! I play cello and I just play like him in my dreams!!! He is incredible!!! Amazing!!!

  • really outstanding

  • Che meraviglia!!

  • wow,

  • That bass player was AMAZING! WOW. Violin was also really good but you don't see many bass players like that!! bravo

  • watch the the Csárdás dance also. It's amazing

  • Splendid.

  • my teacher is making us play this for concert

  • dammmmmmmmmmmit!!!!

  • Fantastic, wonderful !!!!!!!

  • Bassist > Violinist

  • Comment removed

  • Absolutely brilliant...passionate performance.

  • The bassist is even better and lighter on the notes! And his passion looks more genuine then Vengerov's - he seems to be calculating his facial expressions for effect only. (Still wish I can play like him, no doubt, he is great.)

  • The absolute best performance of Csardas I have ever seen.

  • Awsome performance!

And the bassist is really great!

Love how the conducter smiles at 2:33 lol

  • ¡¡¡¡¡¡ B E L L O !!!!!!!

  • what the hell......................

    amazing.....

  • BRAVÍSIMO!!!!!!

  • bravissimo with 2 s...

  • Virtuoso performance.

  • stfu u dont know shit, if you want pretty faces tune to mtv.

  • I agree. It's called EXPRESSION, something that your rappers and pop stars don't have.

  • Isteni Szép!!!!

  • bravo!!!!!!!

  • great.. XD

  • Very nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Супер!!!!!!! Браво!!!!!!!

  • bass veryyy goood!!!!!!

  • i can die :) this is #### (i dont know words for this)...WONDERFULL is weak...very weak...bravo !!!!

  • they are realy great musician. wonderfull melodies.

  • What??? violin player like Vengerov? Sorry, you even said in plural: "players"???

Or Hungary is the paradise of the gifted musicians or you can't distinguish ordinary musicians from a prodigious one.

    Maxim Vengerov is unique!

But I fully agree with you concerning Patkolo. He's also amazing. And rarely we'll find musicians like both!

  • You can find violin players in Hungary much better than Vengerov (for example : karoly puka , sandor lakatos) but vengerov is very good too....Patkolo, is the Paganini of the Bass.Bravooo!

  • you can find violin players like Vengerov in hungary, but the Patkolo with the bass... amazing... it's something unique...

  • is this at the Sunday Night Classics????? coz the stage and conductor looks the same....very well played......The conductor is sooo hot!!!!

  • vengerof as usual of course is great but whoa the bass player -man that was superb!!!

  • so fast on that bass!

funny facial expressions but very well done

  • I know, It's like he's ****ing the cello :P

  • double bass*

  • its reallly reallly good but i still prefer lakatos :P did you know there friends

  • that is impossible on a contrabass........whhat....man that's super done....wow

  • Simplismente o melhor violinista do mundo.

  • I think Oystein's tuba solo of this is still better. Playing this on the tuba definately requires more talent

  • Bravo! Just Amazing.

  • bass yea!!! good!!!

  • I love patkolo's harmonics.

  • I keep coming back to this video, and I would watch it over and over again...

  • vegerov looks like the :bad: guy from the movie Spy kids!! oh.. and that was the best interp. of this peice i have ever heard!!!!!

  • i love it when the conductor laughs at 2:32.

that's totally how i felt through the whole thing.

  • I know exactly what you mean. I love his little smirk in the middle of it.

Only I wasn't just smirking the first time I watched this -- I was laughing out loud almost hysterically and could not stop.

I also love it when one of the accompanying basses laughs at 4:23 :D

  • Oh wait...NOT 2:10

    BUT ACTUALLY 2:12 or 2:11

  • 2:10 IS AWESOME. O-O

  • SHIT. This is FANTASTICAL! But damn...HOW COULD THEY MOVE THE BOWS THAT FAST?!

  • it's a combination of good rosin, good control, and playing the friction of the string to your advantage. kind of a bouncing motion. almost. it is amazing though.

  • its all in the wrist. when u first start playing an instrument u move the bow with an elbow but the faster u play u neeed to play with ur wrist. and if u do it fast enough u get wut is called..uh.. i forgot the word but i think its sauteigh... or something like that o.o

  • don't they call it spiccato, or even lightning spiccato when it's played like that? a sort of natural bouncing of the bow on the string when you get to really high speeds

  • we call it ricochet bowing.

  • oh, on my score they put sautillé

  • yeah its not ricochet bowing cos thats when you have two notes in quick succession on the same bow so you have to bounce the bow to play them quick enough

  • when you play really fast and it bounces its called sortilé or sautillé.

  • actually it's faster not to bounce the bow. it's for the effect of the sound. the difference is whether you cross strings or not.

  • AMAZING !!!!!

  • muy buenos
