  • much respect for yall...

  • Now thats what it is supposed to look like!

  • keep up the good work and stay safe. bless the marines.

  • These damn Jarheads make it look so easy don't they? They even look a bit bored afterwards...

    Semper Fi!

  • SHAKE AND BAKE BABY! HE & WP

  • I have never watched "The Pacific". I'm too old for that. But I have read "With the Old Breed" several times over the years & "Islands of the Damned" just recently. But just like everybody else, I immediately realized that this is K Company 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, Gene Sledge's unit. A couple of Marine friends of mine have told me that they don't identify with a division, but rather with their regiment. And since "the Old Breed" refers to the 1st Division, is K/3/5 still of the "Old Breed"?

  • I miss my 60. 0341- I Company Weapons- 3/4 2nd.mar. div. '83-'87.

  • lol. Smoking a cigarette right next to a pile of mortar shells.

  • @titankratos i dont think mortar rounds explode from cigarettes. They have a pressure plate at the top and when hit hard enough they explode. So i think its okay to smoke one next to some shells

  • @Creamer617 I think not? Normally above the tail fins of the mortar round are "augmenting cartridges" that look like donuts and give the rounds extra range. They are highly flamable and at the end of of a mortar range shoot when we burn the unused ones they burn with an intensity that you could not imagine and are impossible to put out. Therefore if you drop a cigarette on that pile of rounds and it lands on one of them the fire would be so intense it would set off all the rounds in a second?

  • @simroy okay so thats true but they wouldnt be dumbasses and flick their cigarettes onto a box of shells then

  • @Creamer617 The Number 3 is passing the rounds to the number 2 who is putting them in the barrel, as he does not appear to remove the safety pin from the round's we can assume that all the rounds in that pile already have the safety pins removed (bad drills). In the British Army all those mortar rounds would still be inside their duplex containers, protecting them against the elements and the danger of a piece of unburnt propelant from the last fired round being blown back and landing on them

  • @Creamer617 It only takes a nano second to drop that cigarette, or a some unburnt propelant from the last fired round to get blown back by the wind land on one of those augmenting charges and it will be big macks all round, they won't need cremating as there won't be enough of them left to bother with

  • Compared to rifle round, how loud is 60mm mortar round (lifting charge)!?

  • Yutt!! Great Fuckin work Kilo, too bad some dick sucking commie liberals weren t on the receiving end of that HE

  • K/3/5? NO WAY. That is legendary, man! Glad to hear you're fighting with the old breed!

  • Damn dude dont want to be on receiving end XD

  • i just finnished reading With the Old Breed, great book

what an honnor it must be to be able to do the same job that a hero like himself did some 60+years ago

  • hell yes shake and bake them fucks guys good job check out my mortar vids of me in iraq too.

  • haha a good old fashion shake and bake.

  • get some i was in 3/5 kilo 0331 91 to 93

  • amazing this is wat i want 2 do in the rangers great job guys good luck 2 all the soldiers over tehre.

  • Good ole K/3/5. The mortar section especially. GOD BLESS EUGENE SLEDGE!!!

  • Kilo company has an award in his memory "The Old Breed Award"

  • oorah that!

  • well done

  • thats right kick some ass

    Semper Fi

  • I would hate to be on the terrorist side and have those mortars comin down and at the rate of fire they were going.. ouch!!!!

  • if we dont kick there ass they would be over here fighting us i dont think you want that.and saddam hussien still would be touturing people i think they can be over there for a little tax money

  • wahts the difrence between the brown and the blue or iron mortar rounds?

  • Dark green rounds= High Explosive

    Light Green= White Phosphorous

    White=illumination

  • ooh ok, thnx dude

  • But white phosphorous is illegal to use in weapons. So how come they have it?

  • White phos is used for signaling and vehicle disability.

  • No it's illegal to use in the presence of civilians.

  • @BMM51 No it's not? as long as it is used to produce smoke for use as a screen or to degrade enemy vision and optical systems. It is illegal if it is used against personnel. But ourselves (UK) and the US only use it for it's designated purpose to produce smoke screens. This of course is total BS as in the British Army when firing mortars we use what we call a "Fruit Cocktail" WP & HE mix onto the enemy position, good stuff, shrapnel and lumps of burning phosphorous, every body gets a bit?

  • Thank God for those Marines. Any Marine counter-battery mortarman reading this can know that this Army dude always felt safe with you guys in the camp. It was a pleasure to sleep when you were lobbing those out at the enemy... like a lullaby....

  • fuck all of you who blame bush for everything .. go suck dick if we dont fight them in iraq and afghanistand were going to have to fight them in new york and chicago so stfu and support our troops and nation .

  • well debel101, bush sucks dick, his moms.

  • yea he learned from you . u pussy

  • atleast you admit he sucks dick buddy.

  • he does but dont mean you have to not support our troops and blame him for everything . other than the iraq war hes doing a good job

  • i support the troops but not him or iraq.

  • what is the guy in front of the mortar doing? (the one lowered)

  • when the weapon is firing, he is stabilizing the bipods so the gun doesn't "jump". When he comes up, he is leveling the gun to make sure the rounds stay on target.

  • Fielding caught on fire.

  • Insurgents have to wait for the observers (if there even is one) "Too far/short..."

  • Good work Marines, kill all of them!!! I like their rate. Much faster than the insurgency.

  • Good work Marines!

  • Insurgent mortar teams are very inaccurate. They aim the tube in the direction where they think they can cause damage or casualties. They only have a small firing time window to get maybe get 1-3 rounds off before they are picked up by Artillery counter battery radar units. When we fire mortar rounds they are surprisingly accurate. Between a good forward observer, Fire Direction Chief, and a ballistic firing computer, we can make second round hits right on target with a decent adjustment.

  • nothing more to say :D nice footage!

  • With all that accuracy, they are still kicking the American's ass... THANKS BUSH for sending those young heroes to drop their blood for nothing...

FREEDOM IS NOT FREE!! DEMOCRACY IS EARNED NOT GIVEN FOR FREE!!

Especially at the expense of American blood and TAX MONEY!!

Let the Iraqis fight their own war, get the troops out of IRAQ NOW!

  • we (the u.s) are kicking our own asses politically, we're restricted from using our full combat capabilities (including weapons) in the battle field.

marines are having to fight a dirty war with clean hands.

so shut your cock holster and get back to your hippie drum circle.

  • No body on here wants to here your politial BS. This is a video about the mighty core getting thier mortar on. So go run and hide like the rest of you gay liberals

  • @leopold82 that is CORPS not core

  • Did you even serve over there?

(Sounds like you have no clue what you are talking about.)

  • Really, no they're not. The kill ratio is something like 30:1.

  • SO COMPARE this video with other of insurgents firing their mortars.
