One thing that has been buried ever since this match happened was that this was supposed to be an extreme death match (ie no stopping the match for any reason.) They had to quickly retcon that stipulation out of existence and hope the fans wouldn't notice. That always bothered me that they didn't figure out a better way to handle that hold up.
