@brianasaurus20 - yeah, now that you point it out, Locomotive is more of the dirty-esque nature when listening to the lyrics (& even the guitars), its not exactly the easiest rock n' roll song to listen to, yet is isn't 'Appetite' in style either which makes it unique in & of itself.

I love lyrics & this is easily one of the best written by Axl. As for 'Coma', the last 3 mins is the best I've ever heard, when you can relate to artists through lyrics, then you know you ain't alone in this world.

I'm just saying that some of Axl's better lyrics come in the more lesser appreciated songs, and Dead Horse is a great fast paced song to get the blood going , and Locomotive is fantastic lyrically, structurally and musically ( its dirty Rock n' Roll, but its soooo good :P )

@kaaremann - Oh yeah, of course, I know they wrote 'Nightrain', or most of it, according to Slash's book anyway, but the 1st piece is Izzys, the chorus and everything from there on is the bands collaboration, and you're right, Izzy and Slash wrote Mr Brownstone when they were complaining about being addicts. My point to the comment above was that Izzy was as huge a part of song writing than Axl. The rest of the band chipped in too, but Izzy was the link; when he left, you know where it went....

@CloneCaptainV2224 - Well in my eyes they're a Rock n Roll band, but in that it incorporates so many types of rock from folk rock (Bad Apples, Breakdown), thrash (Garden of Eden), ballad (November Rain, Estranged), classic rock (Paradise City), acoustic (Patience, You Ain't The First), blues (Slashs solos; So Fine), down n' dirty hard (You Could Be Mine, You're Crazy, Nightrain) and so on.

I use 'Rock n Roll' as a blanket term for all of the above, which is why Guns are so great :-)
