It happens that I had found all of them when playing Castlevania in SNES years back. I also felt guilty for killing the dog and watching it's keeper crying over it :-) That and the cave sucking you in secret were found accidentaly. The first one is a giveaway and the last which is the more funny one was made in a way that desperate players would jump off and accidentaly find it, haha

Only one I didn't know was 9-2. Never was bad enough to die against Dracula or Death and need an upgrade on my whip in B-4 so you could count that as something I didn't know. AXES all the way!!!!

Wow! I've had this game for YEARS and didn't know some of that stuff. I remember the man and the dog. I did recall feeling a twitch of guilt for doing it, but his dog shouldn't have attacked me. I think this theme recurred with the Owl-Knight of later games crying when you kill their owl.

You forgot one, on the gold level you jump on a certain chest 200 times for some stuff and such.

Actually, it can be any chest, as long as you jump around 200-250 times on it or so you get some meat i think..

I only really found on my own the secret in 6-2 by accident when I was fighting the axe knight. I thought the part with the dog was sad especially for an SNES game.

I don't know I've bet in twice through from stage 1 end so I was on difficulty setting 3 let's say so def worth it. Check out my channel and look under favourites.

You should try beating it after you've completed it. Every time you beat through the game it gets harder for example in an area where you'd typically find one bat you would find 2 and instead of one whip crack to take down an enemy in level 1 it would take 2 etc. Or 3 versus 2 in other areas.

Definitely worth it for the challenge. It's funny because out of all the cheats and speed runs you encounter on Gootube you never hear about the difficulty setting increase per solved game.

Me neither! XD I actually kind of dislike it, though -- I was always used to going into that battle cold when I was a kid, with only the boomerang 1 and the ten or so hearts you receive in the hallway on the way, and it made it that much more rewarding when I won. With that many boomerangs it's just not challenging enough.

somewhere in the stage with the ghost-dancers there's a breakable wall with a 1-Up instead of the usual wing or roast. As far as I know it's the only straight 1-Up in the game.

My memory might fool me but I think in the first level there are some stoneblocks you can destroy for food (weird way to heal one's wounds, eh?).
