Hummm... I aggree if you extend to hard rock bands. Deep Purple is the main influence to hard rock bands. Heavy Metal is a bit different because envolves music + lifestyle + visual + passion. ;-)

@BastardSixx It's not that simple. There were a lot of underground bands during the late 60's, and early 70's that shaped the genre. No single band was responsible for it, as it was an entire movement of hard rock, and heavy psychedelic bands. Most of these bands have since been forgotten. And people give credit to the bands that remain.

I can't explain, but HEAVY METAL has a different energy, I mean, a "Q" different and this is great! I do love hard rock bands (Dokken, Van halen, Ratt...) but Heavy Metal bands are special to me...
