  • Why Chevrolet Wayne? Another engine? There was Ch/W in Argentina for races a long time ago...

  • @charlesnorte The reason this bus is called a Wayne Chevrolet is because it uses a Chevrolet chassis and drive train. Wayne just built the bodies for the buses, but used chassis built by Chevy, GMC, Ford, and many other manufacturers.

  • @oldbus1 From web:

"Buenos Aires City GP 1958. This race was part of Argentina's international season that year and brought Formula 1 car plus some National Mechanics, to thicken the batch. At the start in the rain, Iglesias was ahead of almost all its Chevrolet Wayne, but could not stop, sweeping away the Cooper Climax of Stirling Moss, world runner and winner of the Argentine GP played two weeks earlier. No one was hurt, although English was very upset with Iglesias.

  • @oldbus1 May be possible that Wayne is somebody who prepared the engine. I´ll look for information about.

  • With old buses, the bus body could have been made by any number of manufacturers such as Wayne, Superior, Carpenter, Ward, Bluebird, etc. In this case it was made by Wayne. These bodies were placed on different chassis, some made by Chevrolet, Ford, Dodge, etc. Hence, Wayne Chevrolet, Wayne Ford, Wayne GMC, etc.

  • very nice; a lot of work went into this
