In my country the two sides compromised. They brought in "civil-unions" which gave same-sex couples exactly the same legal rights as a "marriage". The same-sex couples called it "marriage" from the start anyway, and over the years that it has been law, the Christians have pretty much shut-up about it. I'm sure one day the laws will be combined in to a common marriage law. It will just take a little time (for ultra-religious folks to die off, 40%+ atheist and growing) so in a nutshell, baby steps

The Greek root of marry makes no distinction as to who can marry. 'Mari' is just a married woman. 'Maritus' is just a married man, or husband.
Husband is from the Greek, 'Master of the House' (literally, 'house-holder'). Wife in Old English (from Pre-Germanic), originally meant 'woman'. It's sense as 'female spouse' began in Old English. I think we can see that as words, there's no reason to limit their use to the union of people of opposite gender. Two 'house-holders' surely can be married.

In my country the two sides compromised. They brought in "civil-unions" which gave same-sex couples exactly the same legal rights as a "marriage". The same-sex couples called it "marriage" from the start anyway, and over the years that it has been law, the Christians have pretty much shut-up about it. It would do you good to know as well that of the 33 million HIV/AIDS cases around the world, 22.96 million reside in the continent of Africa (12.5 million of who are women). Also, the vast majority of those infected in Africa are heterosexual. To refuse to see HIV/AIDS as a major problem for people of color, is to assure grave consequences.

HIV is most likely a mutated form of Simian Immunodeficiency Virus, a disease present only in chimpanzees & African monkeys, which apparently made the jump to humans as these bloodied animals were handled by Africans when hunting for food.

Haiti was also a popular gay tourist area, & the virus was then introduced into America’s lgbt population, where it would explode on the scene in the 1980’s. The Greek root of marry makes no distinction as to who can marry. 'Mari' is just a married woman. 'Maritus' is just a married man, or husband.
Husband is from the Greek, 'Master of the House' (literally, 'house-holder'). Wife in Old English (from Pre-Germanic), originally meant 'woman'. It's sense as 'female spouse' began in Old English. I think we can see that as words, there's no reason to limit their use to the union of people of opposite gender. Two 'house-holders' surely can be married.
