  • reminds me of that southpark episode with the chinpokemon, gotta buy gotta buy it

  • Thumbs up if you got Streets of Rage, played as Blaze, then paused while she got knocked down.

16-bit upskirt...those were the days lol...

  • I'm playing Streets of Rage RIGHT THE FUCK NOW!

  • Maximum Carnage is the best Spider-Man game on the Genesis!!

  • streets of rage alone was worth buying the console.

  • I havent seen this commercial in forever. The good old genesis days.

  • I played spiderman vs. kingpin, but in the game gear portable system, it was good ;D

  • Gotta get Mega Drive!

  • saving some cash to buy this baby, I mean the console....

  • @KazuyaPrower Thank you for posting this. been looking for this... to sample. Btw... this commercial - plus music -.... is STILL hot!

  • Spider man vs Kingpin FEH. I'd rather play superman 64...I'm serious. Spiderman on the genesis was torture.

  • Gotta get GENESIIIIIIIS! Like nothing ever befoooooore, Genesis is so much MOOOOARRR!

  • Nintendo = Mario

    Sega = Sonic

    Sony = ---

Who the hell is Sony's mascot?

  • @whaowman A dollar bill.

  • @AbelianGroup :D :D

  • @whaowman

What about a Kratos in potato costume? Spud of war. XDDDD

    It would be priceless.

  • @whaowman Crash Bandicoot? Laura Croft? None of the above? :-( frowny face.

  • Ahh, Old school commercials where so awesome and over the top!

  • I remember seeing this commercial & badly wanting the Spider Man game & saying "maybe i'll get streets of rage too". I ended up liking Streets of Rage 100x more than Spider Man. In fact, SM used to frustrate the hell outta me while SOR used to get major replay on my Genesis.

  • Never underestimate the power of Sega!

  • oh my god killer two player action!!!! =O

  • Worst jingle ever?

  • Well, it was an usual kind of jingle back at 1990... Many ads had this style of jingle.

  • @PimpUigi

It wasn't just the Saturn. The 32x and to a lesser extent Sega CD were both colossal failures. By the time Saturn came out this was just par for the course.

Genesis rocked though I'll give you that.

  • i used to have sega genensis when i was a kid

  • Well. good for you.

  • You want a fucking medal?

  • lol why do people give you negative's when all you said was "i used to have sega genesis when i was a kid"

    That's messed up.

Also, TBH, I think Sega CD didn't fail.

It sold 6 million, it was only an add on after all, and it has a fair share of amazing games with amazing graphics for the time, like Batman Returns (with 4 different endings!) and Keio Flying Squadron, and Silpheed (the best polygon shooter of it's era)

Sega CD did respectable for what it was, and how much it cost.

    32X bombed.

  • hot graphics it could melt an ice cube :p jk but for the time they were epic

  • This is the first beat 'em up game in 1991

plus the 2nd one in 1992 and 3rd one in

1994 (which it's just OK) ever featured on

    the Sega Genesis.

  • LOL OMG LMAO the ads back in the day were soo funny wow they bringback memories

  • Man, the 90's were full of EXTREME!!

  • LOLOLOL:O>LOLOL!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is that Jim Cummings in this commercial?

  • Sounds like him.

  • By the way, is Spider-Man good?

  • Its the best Spider-Man game on the Genesis.

  • @heardofrvb theres no such thing as a good spiderman game

  • @heardofrvb it's the best spider-man game before 2000 PSX/N64/DC game.

  • I know this is a little late but because its one of my favorite games ever I feel that I got to tell you. I have played at least 14 diffrent spider-man games to about 7 diffrent consoles, and I got to say that this is the best spider-man game ever made! It have good graphics and sound, an ok music, good controlls and It have some chalange to it. Its not a baby game like most spider-man games are. You should play this on a real mega drive (genesis). Its morphinominal!

  • Awesome commercial, but dosen't Axel wear a white t-shirt, not a yellow tank-top?

  • That was Sega of America's fault. They did that same mistake in Streets of Rage 3.

  • Actually, this is a commercial for the first Streets of Rage. That's Adam, who wore the yellow shirt and black pants actually.

  • Pause at :15. You'll know what I'm saying.

  • I bought one when Sonic came out,Streets of Rage was also a good game.

  • "Leading the 16-bit revolution"

I disagree, though I had a sega, but it wasnt my decision and i was like 2 years old basically

  • I never said I hated Sega, you shouldn't judge like that...

I love sonic and all, but it just seems that they were lying...

Also, get over it, Nintendo won.

  • @PimpUigi

Your argument is rather like asseverating that VHS sales don't "count" once LD was introduced (itself about as successful as Sega's post-Genny projects).

Or, put more accurately, once the Genesis is no longer in the lead, it's time to call the game and retroactively assert that the last time they DID have the lead was the end of the match.

    Ridiculous.

Further, Nintendo turned the tides not in 95 but in 94. I.E. Donkey Kong Country, MKII, Super Metroid, et cetera.

  • There's a lot of factors involved in the 16 bit wars... profit, market share, and of course the games themselves.

Genesis began strong, and SNES ended strong... beyond that I'd need to look at a bunch of numbers and take a good look back at which games stood the test of time best.

I loved Phantasy Star, Shining Force, Sonic, Alex Kidd, etc, but my gut feeling is that SNES left the better legacy in retrospect.

  • @PimpUigi

You still don't know what you're talking about.

Just for starters, the 32X and Saturn were released within weeks of each other...just in separate hemispheres.

The US saw the release of the 32X in November 94, whereas Japan sold through initial shipments of SS in early Dec of the same year.

Further, Nintendo reversed market trends in 94 and never really looked back thereafter.

Nintendo had clearly won the 16-bit wars well before the decade was over.

    Quit typing with your ass.

  • @PimpUigi

Unfortunately, Japan and the US were really the only markets that mattered back then. Brazil doesn't really matter on the global stage when it comes to GDP...or much of anything else.

Anyway, to the main point, SNES won both America and Japan. Game over.

SNES had sales in excess of 50 million. The Genesis sold around 29 million.

  • Gotta love the 90's.

  • i think michal jackson did a just voice in this im not kidding!

  • Gotta get Genesis!

  • @paulsbuck5

It's been 2 years. . .Did you get it ??

    i'm just curious xD

  • @Ig0rBrE I've had a Genesis since 2005. My brother had one in the 90s, though. Sorry for responding late to your comment.

  • @paulsbuck5 did you get one?

  • @Muffincakeswithsugar Sorry for responding so late. I hardly remember my comment on here. I've had a Genesis since 2005. My big brother had one in the 90s.

  • Only in the 90s. 5 STARS!!!
