  • how fascinating! thanks so much for this information, and for clarifying that it's a "she" and not a "he", as I'd incorrectly said in the video. I do hope to see them emerge this spring!

  • Your Welcome!! I loves this kind of bee!! I make nesting blocks for them. It will be very cool to see them emerge!!! You can make a block for them too!

  • Wonderful! Around what month do they emerge?  Do you make the nesting block the same way you would for solitary bees --- say, by drilling holes in a piece of wood of a prescribed width and length?

  • I saw them during the summer like June- August. yes the blocks are the same. I actually descovered them by making a sample block for mason bees. I used all different widths of drill bit but I will have to double check the measurment. When you drill just drill until there is about 1cm left from the back to the inside of the tunnel.

  • She lays multiple eggs in one hole. She collects pollen, makes a pile of it, then lays an egg on it, and then closes off the cell. She will do this many times depending on how big the tube is.
