@JazJustice But my guitar only has six strings. ...Ohhhh, I see what you did there. Actually, you're probably right, despite my sarcasm. This may be one of those things best to listen to and appreciate, rather than duplicate.
@Breatherable@2catahoula what's amazing is the only way we could get this film distributed (which I solely funded and produced) was by having me in it (which was against my wishes) you see no-one in TV or any record company distribution etc. was interested in the documentary about these amazing blues players so I went ahead and paid for it myself , so that's me the cheesy poser white guy trying to bring this stuff to you !
@SECtennesseeSEC I was wondering if you were the casting director on this video shoot and that was how you knew they were paid extras? Fantastic! :) Who knew?
He had a good guitar--Telecasters are real nice instruments---and they work fine for theblues---at least they do when I play them--ha! This fella has seen plenty and done lived some tough stuff---so he can sing the blues with authenticity!
you have to be a black sharecropper born into poverty and experience a lifetime of hardships and loss, then kill a guy by shooting him in the head, serving 6 months for it, then become an iconic blues musician.
If you don't think this is some bad ass guitar, then your opinion is worthless anyway. this is pure down home northern mississippi blues. every modern guitar player should take notes and pay respect. I've been playing for 25yrs, seen it all, done most of it. I had to learn this the minute i first heard it. it is the essence of what a guitar player should be.
Since the OP must not be around to accept my video response I'll explain. As others have said the "fruitcake", "cheesy", "poser" in the video was Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics. I uploaded a video (the only one I have in my profile) of RL Burnside singing "Big Boss Man" with Dave Stewart playing lead guitar at Junior Kimbrough's Juke Joint. Dave Stewart is hardly a fruitcake, cheesy, poser...but it's amazing how some people will jump to conclusions when they don't have the facts.
This is one of the very best videos on "You Tube". The playing is quite sparse and wonderful, Burnside's warm expressive voice with those beautiful modulations, people unable to keep still as he sings, and the images which just capture the atmosphere oh so beautifully. Thank you thank you thank you!

Dave Stewart is a tosser...always was; always was! Don't know why someone as genuinely talented as Annie Lennox got herself so distraught about a twit like that.
Anyway...back to R.L...what an awesome talent! R.I.P

Well, good for Dave Stewart and his field work. Thousands of people knew about RL before he came along. We didn't need this guy and his pretty little boots to show us the way. Stewart did great work himself but he looks entirely out of place in this video.
Dave Stewart did some excellent fieldwork and made a great documentary. Nice to see him happy about recording RL Burnside [ea] and the joy it'll bring us!!
Rural L. Burnside - I get all teary eyed when I think about how he is no longer with us. His life... well, well, well! But then when you listen you know and realize that he'll be with us forever!
