  • where can I find the full performance fo download??

  • Would someone please show Simon Cowell this, please?

Then he might have some idea what REAL talent looks like!

  • These guys need to come to America.

  • First saw Bellowhead at the Scarborough Folk Fest in 2011. They were great. GO see them!

  • Just saw them live at the cambridge folk festival, they were absolutely amazing! Go see them live!

  • God I need to learn to play the middle tune on violin :)

  • When I listen to them I feel content with life :D

  • I might just go and see them at v festival

  • I like how at 0:59 Boden is casually rosining his bow as he dances along :')

  • It's people and music like this that make life worthwhile.

  • I hear we aren't getting the whole Bellowhead back at Towersey this year? Great shame!!! x

  • I've heard them play this live so many times and it's 100 times better when you can dance and feel the excitement of the music flooding through you. Bellowhead is superb. Anything Jon Boden touches is great . Arise Sir Jon for services to great music

  • yes! greenman festival here i come :)

  • Amazing Band. I've only seen them once at Wychwood festival and was blown away. Definately off to see them again at some point.

  • beyond brilliant, absolutely there.

  • brilliant.

  • Makes you proud to be English.

  • @lewis121234 I think you mean British....

  • wow

  • Same here...they're the best of English trad folk updated for our time!

  • watched them on jools holland last night brilliant

  • same here

  • Brilliant - just brilliant.

  • this is bloody awesome! :L well done to you all.

  • Amazing !!!

  • i could listen to these guys all day

  • what kind of accordion/melodeon do they use in this song? i think it sounds lovely :)

  • wow!they're awesome! they should go to a talent show or smthn...

  • @IshikStar YOU KNOW, MAYBE THEY SHOULD

  • about once a year a lookup something like 'pete flood percussion solo' THERE IS NOTHING!!!!!!! PLEASE, PLEASE if someone who knows pete sees this will they make him put up a really impressive drum solo. it's a disgrace that all these over the internet people have put up percussion solo videos, when one of the best has nothing!!!!!!

please thumbs up this if you have never heard how good he is, or even if you do know! thanks

  • Like if you you saw them at Towersey over the weekend.

  • @xonix2002

Yeah I saw them at Towersey this weekend and they were amazing!!

  • You tube videos dont do bellowhead any justice. Go see them live, they blew me away, so much energy, and a couple pints of scrumpy dont go amiss either !!

  • @NCM007 latitude 2011

    yay :D

  • is it me am i getting old ?but i cant hear sloe gin by joe bonamassa in this (listened 3 times to each now back to back)

  • @tiny789 the sole gin that joe bonamassa does is not by joe b. it's by Tim Curry. and the set is Frozen Gin / Vinegar Reel / The Sloe

  • @RonnieRodentMusic ah ok my mistake its good though sort of stuff thats played at the cropredy festival

  • lol at this band

  • anyone know the name of the second tune, the one he plays on fiddle? or is it not a trad. one?

  • @owainyebastards Sloe Gin Set: Frozen Gin/Vinegar Reel/The Sloe

  • @owainyebastards trad I think. Vinegar Reel. The first tune, Frozen Gin, was written by John Spiers. The rest are trad.

  • @owainyebastards just found out it's written by Jon Boden

  • @RonnieRodentMusic nice one, tried to play it on me fiddle- didnt happen lol, am not good enough(yet)

  • @owainyebastards If you can read some kind of notation I'll write it out for you. If not, and you play by ear, I'll upload a slow version of it

  • @RonnieRodentMusic i can read music, that would be very good of you

  • nice joe bonamassa cover no im joking

  • major thumbs up to Bellowhead

  • Superb stuff... Folk meets punk meets reality. xxx

  • is that ben goldacre on drums?

  • @PennyLane411 No that William moonflower III

  • They played this at the Bristol Old Vic and yelled 'ARSE!' half way through , absoleutly amazing, better than 'hoi!' any day :)

  • These people seriously need to take some lessons in arrangement. Sounds like a school orchestra.

  • @logosthedestroyer Please by all means show me a school orchestra capable of writing an arrangement of three folk tunes like this.

  • @boosh1988 I know my old school band could have done a better job. Really though it's not so much 'arranged' as 'slapped together like a roadside BLT sandwich'

  • @logosthedestroyer are we talking arranged as in the order of the tunes and how the three are put together? if so, yes i agree they are jsut placed next to each other though. i meant the way the parts of the band play into each other mainly. the way the instruments come in at the start in particular is amazing

  • @logosthedestroyer could they bollocks

  • @logosthedestroyer I honestly think you've missed the point; It sounds like naive art because they've ignored the rules. A standard arrangement would typically include skillfully blended brass parts that weren't obtrusive in the mix.

In contrast, Bellowhead have got loud funky brass going side by side with the core instruments. Whether this was deliberate or not I have no idea, but I do believe they've created something wonderfully anarchic that wouldn't exist if they'd gone by the book.

  • The Beeb so need to get these guys on again ! :D xxxx

  • saw bellowhead for the first time last night - incredible group! plus i think sam sweeney is beautiful <3

  • @Pads012 thanks!!

  • does anyone know what the tunes in the set are called?

  • Frozen Gin/Vinegar Reel/The Sloe (I think).

  • Love it!

  • This is exactly what music should be about - fun, music, talent, fun, music, talent........ and it's English.... WOW!

  • Bugger! They are bloody brilliant!!!

  • i thought my music tastebuds had dried-up after years of living in a audio-wasteland...then these guys came-along...love it !!!!!

  • God what fun! I have to see these people!

  • Three words: Feel...good...music!

    Pure brilliance!!!

  • Any band who Morris dances as part of their show is SOOO COOL! Hilarious! Saw them at the Winnipeg Folk fest and they ROCKED! Rules are usually to stay seated during shows because of sightlines however EVERYONE was up on their feet. I can't wait to see them live again.

  • hI meghanbird, I saw them recently St George's Hall, Bradford the whole of the floor clear for people to rcok with them...one of the best gigs I have seen in years.

  • @meghanbird I agreee totally EXCEPT- they are not Morris dancing, they are doing a form of East Anglian step dancing. Saw them in Ipswich UK 28/11/10

  • @bobbylizziebeebop What are the differences between the two? I've never see or even heard of the dance you are talking about. My dad did Morris dancing so that's all I've ever seen. Do they both wear bells and the sort but just different steps?

  • Saw them in Liverpool a few months ago.. best small gig i've ever been to, or ever will go to.

    Until their next tour, anyway.

  • want to see these live so badly!! the cutlery pot on the drumkit is amazing :)

  • i have the album and was there in the cardiff concert

  • eeeeeeee!!! most favourite video ever! and while for a long while I was a jon boden woman through and through, I have just noticed that the drummer is also a bit of a fitty! does anyone know his name?

  • Pete Flood. You're welcome.

  • I've got my eye on the cellist. This might have something to do with me being a bloke! ;)

  • pete flood

  • you gonna google him ?

thats what my mates do :P

they are awesome, are they not?

  • @blondieB90 william moonflower III

  • @blondieB90 Pete Flood

  • @blondieB90: the drummer is called Pete Flood.

  • pure music with life......this is 100 % healthy than Lily Allen`s gig... :(

  • you have the best username ever. How I wish I had chosen it!

  • Better than mine?! :P

  • a little

  • they are truly amazing live!

  • Un morceau très sympa, très rythmé. Ca donne envie de bouger. *_*

Really a great song from a great band.

    A french admirer.

  • Why are you competing about who liked them first, and showing off like 'I'm 16 and I love this band'? There are 6 billion people in the world, chances are there's another 16 year old who likes them too y'know!

You're REALLY showing your age :)

  • how is that possible? they've only been round since 2004....

    toe tappingly good!!! :D

  • there arent many songs that get you tapping your feet or that make you want to get up and bimble around nodding and flailing.i love em

  • What a great band and what a fantastic word "Bimble" is.

That's a Stephen Fry word I'm going to use it at work on Monday

  • Saw them in London last month and now I'm hooked. They need to come to come to North America ASAP. Fantastic.
