Booker T. was probably the greatest African American who ever lived. He's everything blacks ought to be. Booker was singularly brilliant, cared about his people. But he overestimated blacks. He didn't realize that the majority of blacks did not then-- nor now --have his desire for Industry, Thrift, Intelligence and Property. But don't despair, Booker--though they didn't know you, Asian Americans have followed your principles to a "T," and are living proof that you were DEFINITELY right.
@takfam07 As a black man it is sad but true. I hope to go a step further and advocate a split between black people. It is ridiculous in my opinion for black people to move as a solid mass and hope all of us will make it. The black community is in a bad situation in America and in most of Africa. My belief is many blacks are too immature to accept this obvious truth or do anything about it. I never heard an African-American with a clearer perspective and plan. He was saying stuff in 1895 that still ring true today. Same as you're saying.
@mrblackalchemist They don't say much about blacks. Like everyone, they see blacks thru the media as sports figures, entertainers, activists. My grandparents grew up as second-class citizens in the US, but never felt personally inferior. They saw inequality as a temporary, that thru education, hard work and business they would prevail. They did--their success is astonishing, considering where they started. Group loyalty was VERY important. Less so today, b/c we're increasingly mixed-race.

I am hoping to write a book to institute separation from those I feel are a big waste of time. While racism is still a problem 90% of black problems are self inflicted. Can a black leader or group of leaders emerge who finally get into the hearts and minds of the majority black community the right way? Booker T. almost did, but he was bypassed in favor of rights activists who called him "Uncle Tom." Yet his message seemed a sure formula for socioeconomic advancement.
@takfam07 I am sort of pessimistic about the black community at large. A part of me feels that some black people are not capable of what Booker T was wanting. I say this because if you really watch the black majority you will find some big issues. One is critical thinking that is lacking. I know that historically blacks have been considered intellectually inferior. When I look at the scores in Africa I am like damn!! They are so low and it is not something one can snap their fingers and change.

@takfam07 I believe it is a variety of taboo subjects. One dealing with maturation rates, evolution and what motivates people. I strongly believe that different races have been vetted over the thousands of years far more than blacks. For example North Asians and Europeans due to harsh climate and lack of immediate resources had to learn to plan, think and to work together or DIE. This stressor meant that those who could not do these things were likely to not pass along their genes or lineage.

@jayelldude Now let us talk about intelligence. This is what really separates people. Black people generally have IQs that are lower than other groups. When I first heard this I thought that was so racist or the tests are biased. But tests that are not biased tend to show the same results. IQ tests are correlated with SATS and grade point average. On average our people are dead last in all 3.

@jayelldude No dumbass, don't take racial IQ averages personally. OK, blacks average 85 in the US--that's damnably low for a group average. But it doesn't mean ALL blacks score that low! Every race has people in the highest and lowest ranges. It's where the AVERAGE falls. It simply means that WAY too many blacks are dumb. IF genetic (I don't believe it is), it means sub-Saharan Africa didn't put selection pressure on high intelligence to the degree that other regions did for other races.

Integration has not worked well for us in terms of education.It worked as far as sitting at a lunch counter.But has not worked well in terms of placing black children in good shcools.

I've noticed that the crucible of your hurt, the driving force of your malcontent, is the issue of black intelligence and IQ. And of course I ponder the issue as well. I'm not an average black, I don't know what it's like to live in an 85 IQ mental world. (Or, in the case of Africa, a 70 IQ world). My grandparents grew up as second-class citizens in the US, but never felt personally inferior. They saw inequality as a temporary, that thru education, hard work and business they would prevail. They did--their success is astonishing, considering where they started. Group loyalty was VERY important. Less so today, b/c we're increasingly mixed-race.

@mrblackalchemist I know that if more blacks thought like you, a positive paradigm shift would occur. But I'm wondering whether blacks who think like you can convert those that don't. Can a black leader or group of leaders emerge who finally get into the hearts and minds of the majority black community the right way? Booker T. almost did, but he was bypassed in favor of rights activists who called him "Uncle Tom." Yet his message seemed a sure formula for socioeconomic advancement.

@takfam07 I am sort of pessimistic about the black community at large. A part of me feels that some black people are not capable of what Booker T was wanting. I say this because if you really watch the black majority you will find some big issues. One is critical thinking that is lacking. I know that historically blacks have been considered intellectually inferior. When I look at the scores in Africa I am like damn!! They are so low and it is not something one can snap their fingers and change.

For example if you really examine what black people believe, how they process and filter information and what they can do with it you will see it is just a big ILLOGICAL MESS. Yet an individual is guided by their way of thinking and in my belief for most blacks it smells disaster.

All my life I've noticed this about blacks. When I was younger, I rationalized that it must be a mystical, deeper spiritual knowledge that transcends mere reason. As I get older, I'm more inclined to see it at face value. But why does it prevail? Why do so many blacks eschew critical thinking? Is rationality seen as "white"?

@takfam07 I believe it is a variety of taboo subjects. One dealing with maturation rates, evolution and what motivates people. I strongly believe that different races have been vetted over the thousands of years far more than blacks. For example North Asians and Europeans due to harsh climate and lack of immediate resources had to learn to plan, think and to work together or DIE. This stressor meant that those who could not do these things were likely to not pass along their genes or lineage.

Over tens of thousands of years this means Africans still have a lot of people hanging around who if they had a similar vetting process would not have made it. Africa is still extremely resource rich but have Africans "reasoned" to work together and progress? NOPE. @mrblackalchemist I am an admirer of Booker T.Washington as well although during his era his philosiphy was not absorbed by most black people. Perhaps blacks at the time percieved acheiving human rights and economic prosperity were synomonous.
I simply think many did see Booker as an uncle tom by confusing his philosophy with submitting to white authority.But we know now as for the example of other black organizations that advocates education& economic independance.

@jayelldude Now let us talk about intelligence. This is what really separates people. Black people generally have IQs that are lower than other groups. When I first heard this I thought that was so racist or the tests are biased. But tests that are not biased tend to show the same results. IQ tests are correlated with SATS and grade point average. On average our people are dead last in all 3.

@mrblackalchemist those studies related the drop to school systems and discrimination,..those are not my words i researched this on wikipedia,,which were suggesting as black kids got older the poor enviroment and neighborhood was also where they went to school.It make sense,,a poor neighhood will have poor schools.
Perhaps the curriculim of those poor schools were not financed to offer courses that comptetes with a wealthy school district,or private education.

@jayelldude No dumbass, don't take racial IQ averages personally. OK, blacks average 85 in the US--that's damnably low for a group average. But it doesn't mean ALL blacks score that low! Every race has people in the highest and lowest ranges. It's where the AVERAGE falls. It simply means that WAY too many blacks are dumb. IF genetic (I don't believe it is), it means sub-Saharan Africa didn't put selection pressure on high intelligence to the degree that other regions did for other races.

Integration has not worked well for us in terms of education.It worked as far as sitting at a lunch counter.But has not worked well in terms of placing black children in good shcools.
Our schools are not integrated because our neighbors are not integrated.

At that level the individual has a very good understanding about most things and has the capacity to critically think. In the white community 16% are at this level or higher while about 55% of whites "straddle" 100 IQ points plus or minus 5. The vast majority of first world jobs need IQs above 95.

@mrblackalchemist I don't use emotions to think.I know that black kids are not exposed to the same education as white kids. It has nothing to do with genetics. You're believe is that it's genetics,and that's an old bigot theory.I believe that if black children were exposed to the same education as whites and others the IQ scores would change.

@jayelldude OK, but how would you explain the billions and billions in Federal Title I monies that go toward inner city public and charter schools each year, for the express purpose of helping black children succeed? The US education system isn't sitting on its thumbs. They've spent the past century trying EVERYTHING to close the gap. Remember the recent Atlanta school board cheating scandal--those black kids had everything they needed. But they still scored low, which prompted score-fixing.
