@xXdeesnutsXx That is because all third party titles are made first on the 360 and then ported to the PS3 because its easier and faster to make games on a DVD disc as opposed to a blue ray disc. But I do agree the 360 is a better "gamers" console as opposed to the PS3. I find the PS3 more for entertainment hence the name Sony Computer "Entertainment" System. But I do like PS3's exclusives better I'll give them that. And yes I own both systems that's why I'm giving my opinion.

I think Downpour will be more similar to pre-SM games, but keep in mind it will have nothing to do with established SH mythos. This is Murphy's story. I'm definitely looking forward to it! :D

Love silent hill games I have to disagree with the latter climb not using buttons now with an fixed cam on climb actually takes away from immersion. Any useage of additional cam action also 3rd person really kills immersion.

When you're fighting monsters you should feel helpless not like you're playing some sort of bastardized Zelda z-target bullshit. So, no surprise there, they are telling you right from the start expecting that to be the big mechanic of the game. in previous SH games that concept was hidden within and that made it much more interesting. Okay, this is pretty weird for me.. at first I thought this looked like shit, I told my self that silent hill was shit until god told me to try it out. So i borrowed silent hill 2 and 4 from my friend and now I love it.
This looks really promising, let's just hope it doesn't fail like Homecoming, which I highly doubt!
This game resembles a lot of what alan wake did theres not denying that. Although it does hold that silent hill feel which is important. Wake brought a lot more darkness to the opened environment such as the streets and the forest and let you see your enemy from a much greater distance. Silent hill used to just have really thick fog so you felt blinded and monster would come out of nowhere. for me i thought the alan wake approach worked better for me. Also Wake had an awesome story.
@BassPlayerBedwell I thought so too. It took me right back to being chased by the invisible water monster and closing doors as quick as possible to slow him down. Either way, chase sequences are terrifying to me. I hate them.
I think silent hill became sucky after the americans got a hold of the title and turned it from an eerie psychological thriller into an actiony jump out 2 second startle fest. Which totally sucks in comparison to the Japanese titles!!!

I (unlike some other silent hill fans) think this game looks pretty epic. Realize that the producers can't always make things exactly like the originals so of course they need to experiment with things to make sure the players aren't bored. Can't wait til this game comes out!
So very bummed out about this series. It was pretty awesome for the first few sequels, but it's been declining since Silent Hill 4 The Room. Silent Hill 2 was my personal favorite, mainly because it wasn't so wrapped up in the weird occult themes that were present in the first game. It had more of a mood like the movie Jacob's Ladder. Like a story of someone who is trying to come to terms with something tragic and the course of events is what opens their eyes to the truth.

The reason Silent Hill has a fanbase is not because of cheap thrills. It's because of it's psychology and the unique balance of subtly. Shattered Memories and even Homecoming flat out fell apart in this area, relying on cheap gimmicks and stereotypical "movie psychology" rather than anything remotely in depth or compelling. Does this game at least give a shot at some kind of legitimate psychological mapping of Murphy's mind?
Resident Evil started sucking aruond when RE4 came out, The only reason I liked RE5 Is because of the playable characters, I know I'm not buying RE6....

I think silent hill became sucky after the americans got a hold of the title and turned it from an eerie psychological thriller into an actiony jump out 2 second startle fest. Which totally sucks in comparison to the Japanese titles!!!

I (unlike some other silent hill fans) think this game looks pretty epic. Realize that the producers can't always make things exactly like the originals so of course they need to experiment with things to make sure the players aren't bored. Can't wait til this game comes out!

So very bummed out about this series. It was pretty awesome for the first few sequels, but it's been declining since Silent Hill 4 The Room. Silent Hill 2 was my personal favorite, mainly because it wasn't so wrapped up in the weird occult themes that were present in the first game. It had more of a mood like the movie Jacob's Ladder. Like a story of someone who is trying to come to terms with something tragic and the course of events is what opens their eyes to the truth.

The reason Silent Hill has a fanbase is not because of cheap thrills. It's because of it's psychology and the unique balance of subtly. Shattered Memories and even Homecoming flat out fell apart in this area, relying on cheap gimmicks and stereotypical "movie psychology" rather than anything remotely in depth or compelling. Does this game at least give a shot at some kind of legitimate psychological mapping of Murphy's mind?

@MrGamesHome Well Downpour looks a lot better then the last 3 Silent hill, i think the atmosphere will be there, it as all the tools to be a good silent hill game imo. Silent Hill 1-2 had some scary moments but its not scary like people say it is. People talk about those games like they cant be match, and even if this one delivers a lot of old fans wont admit its as good or better.

If you experience something many times, you get used to it. It's not that this game is less scary, it's just that as horror fans, people who play this series won't be so easily shocked. Maybe players should find a new genre for a while and come back to this later?
