the whole thing explaining why we believe strange things, about how we are descendants of the hominids that were pattern-seeking by nature was brilliant. makes so much sense
I've been reading Michael's SCIAM column for years, and its easily my favorite part of a great magazine. It's great to have a visual aid to religious people to hear Michael's honest way of breaching a subject that's very personal to them, especially considering he was a hardcore Christian himself before becoming a skeptic. I have to say that the glowy white background plus understated suit gives him a bit of a ... pastoral look which seems at least ironic, at worst a bit silly. Cut it out! :)
@sonykroket Instead of bothering to reply to that obvious stupidity, let me just point it out to you: calling someone a "dork" just after accusing them of being "very personal" and "biased" makes you look very stupid. And/or obvious troll is obvious. Case closed.
@sonykroket If you want to be responded to like an adult, you shouldn't talk like a kid, kid. Ask your parents for some pointers on respect - you're in dire need. Another important pointer: it's okay to be critical of your heroes. I am, don't be afraid to join in. As a fellow skeptic, I want Michael to be as effective in combating religious ignorance as possible.Look up the word pastoral in your dictionary, let it sink in, then try a cogent argument. Good night, kid.
@sonykroket Temper, temper kid. I have responded, even though it wasn't needed since you're incapable of keeping a head clear enough to argue anything.
I love Micheal Shermer! we need more libertarian atheists. Drew Carry, LibertyIsNotGiven, Morrakiu, Shanedk, Nick Gillespie, Penn Gillette, etc...we need more.
@CelticAlphabet Indeed. But I wish more libertarians would reluctantly follow the evidence of man-made global climate, which is not 100% certain but is quite probable at this point.
@sulljoh1 I wish everyone including libertarians would look at empirical evidence more often. I feel that a free market, methodological naturalism (the scientific method), and evolution (natural selection actually) all work the same exact way. Their all bottom up free expression of ideas and tests to see what works, how to improve it, and document and throw out what doesn't work. And What is so demonstrable now is that statism doesn't work =). Wars, bailouts, socialism, debt etc.
Michael Shermer makes me feel better about going bald.

The Believing Brain was an excellent book. Made me want to be a psychologist.

@sonykroket Obviously, every comment is an opinion. I intended constructive criticism.

@propoetide
Not all opinions are equally valid and no, there was nothing constructive about your personal/biased view

@propoetide
Indeed
So what was constructive about your obviously biased and incoherent argument which i assume isnt supported by many others?
sonykroket 4 months ago
@sonykroket All of it is constructive. I'm wondering which part you're objecting to, since you yourself haven't given constructive criticism of it.

You come with BS about Mike looking pastoral
Thats not constructive, thats biased and very personal

Funny you should say that as it was you starting with the offtopic judgemental BS about Mike and how he looks according to your silly opinion
Just because you call someone a troll and say the case is closed doesn't mean they are, fuckspank
I guess you needed a reason to weasle yourself out of this pickle, projecting fartbrain
