  • I find it hard to turn the pedal's volume past 9-10 o'clock, it is a freaking loud mofo

  • Sounds more like an overdrive than fuzz

  • what if u plug it into a guitar amp with a guitar :)

  • @andrewkadar i just got that pedal today and that's exactly what i'm doing and it sounds awesome!

  • my sizeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee nice demo man

  • nice... now i want one!

  • @TheMoistdesert let me know how you like it man. Mine just got stolen and I'm looking for another one.

  • @mkds1109

Hey, man. It's pretty sweet. It has a very spikey and pissed off sound. Thanks for the tip:)

  • hey guys, just wanted to post a suggestion on here. ive tried out all sorts of bass OD pedals and the best pedal ive ever used was actually a boss power driver guitar pedal. it has a fat tone in which i could always get more bass out of the pedal than i could with my EQ. give it a shot, i loved it and have been using it since the late 90's.

  • @mkds1109

Cool. I checked out some soundclips and it does have a nice fat, fuzzy feel to it. Because of you, I've just taken the plunge and bought a used one on eBay. I hope it doesn't suck;-)

  • I know many bass players try electric guitar pedals(mostly fuzz) but what would happen if you try to plug this one in your eletric guitar

  • @davidstoklosa you might lose some top end off your tone. For fast, chugging riffs, this'd work fine, but trying to solo on it might not be the most tasty thing to do

  • @davidstoklosa ok thsnks for the info

  • which one is better, the EHX Bass Big Muff Pi or the Dunlop/MXR El Grande Bass Fuzz ???!!! please help me to make a good choice!

  • @tommysick bass big muff mate

  • I somehow knew Muse would get commented on here :D. Mighten get this.

  • can it handle low B or A#?

  • what song is that bassline from in the beginning?

  • I think what Chris Wolstenholme uses a Russian Big Muff Pi for "Hysteria", but the Bass Big Muff Pi sounds like (better) the russian for bass: it's the same concept, but optimiced for bass. And it isn't expenssive! :-)

  • 1:20 - 1:40 saturn 3 ?

  • this is the one that muse use on histerya?

  • nope, he uses an old russian Big Muff or something like that.

  • I think Wolstenholme splits his signal to 3 amps, one dry, one with the russian big muff and one with a human gear animato

  • @maxrutc09 Wolstenholme has actually two of those black russian muff re-issues now, with some other goodies and synth stuffs

  • Woah, I need to buy this now. I've been looking for a Cliff Burton sounding pedal that didn't sound as digital as my Grunge pedal.

  • he used the fuzz from his morley wah, but those are hard to find. Just go with the bass big muff for 80 bucks.

  • uh, no he didnt, he used the old russian big muff and a morley chrome tel-ray wah.

  • Nope. He used the Morley Fuzz Wah. I have a pic of his pedalboard and there is no big muff, just his Fuzz wah. One buttons turns on/off the wah and the other turns on/off the fuzz.

  • would you rather have this or the Boss ODB-3?

  • I have the ODB-3, the EH bass big muff and the MXR M80. In my opinion the boss is the best. I use the M80 more as an EQ and it beefs up the ODB-3 sound. Together they are class.

  • The sound is way too dark for me. I also heard this is a really noisy pedal and not very reliable either.

  • Does anyone know the proper AC Adapter for this pedal?....tired of those 9V batteries running dead on me ;-(

    any help is appreciated, thanks

  • i Do believe it gonna be a

Dunlop ECB-003 AC Adapter I think it works for all mxr/dunlop pedals. Got mine from sweetwater for my dynacomp

  • nah, I prefer my EHX bass big muff

  • @StijnBF2

Agreed! EHX pedal is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond this one, and gives you tons of sustain!

  • @Cobrarocker but a Big Muff gets buried in a mix unless you EQ or Tone knob all the lows out.

  • @StijnBF2 Allah loves wonderous variety!

  • Dude I have no idea wht i should use. I'm tryin to reach tht sound from the bass line from Hysteria by muse. I don't know if I should use the EHX Bass big muff or the MXR El Grande Bass Fuzz.

  • you should use the zvex woolly mammoth. and stop listening to muse.

  • What's wrong with MUSE? Too awesome a band for you to stand?

  • What you talking 'bout Willis!? Muse is awesome!

  • i prefer the bass big muff... u will get the hysteria sound from it eaisly...

  • Let me tell you something man. This pedal demo here is ok, but there isn't much change between modes. The bass big muff is very versatile, and you should here it respond if you change your guitar preamp. I own it and I'll do a vid demo if you want me to.

  • Could you please dude? I wanna see what pedal would be great for bass cuz I don't wanna waste any money just to resell a pedal.

  • Aight. Subscribe to my vids so you know when I upload it, I'll prolly shoot it this weekend. What bass do you have? Then I can use one of my basses that's most like yours

  • go for the MXR blowtorch instead. It can do everything this pedal can do and more.

Also, Devi Ever Supermassive Black hole or Bass Fuzz

  • That el grande is a noice box...the EHX Bass big muff is way better~!!!

  • I've never really gotten into effects much; the sound of the right bass through the right amp is pleasing enough for me.

This sounds really cool though. If I have some spare changing rolling around sometime I may buy one of these.

Suggestion to bass players that use stuff like this a lot: Use it in moderation!!! If you have it on throughout a whole tune it looses it's badass-ness of when you're already playing a rockin' solo and THEN you hit it. That's the shit

  • what would someone say about using this with a regular electric guitar?

  • Hey Bass Players! What do you think? Big Muff or El Grande is the better? I'm gonna buy one of them, but I still don't know which would be better.

  • Just get a RAT, and not the one made for bass, just the regular one. I've been through a number of distortion boxes with bass and the bass specific ones never really did it for me. A boss heavy metal pedal is pretty good too.

  • Man, you are RIGHT. We've been doing some recording at the weekend and I've tried RAT. Just the perfect tone for me. Actually I bought an El Grande a few months ago, it's a great stuff but it's way too fuzzy for me. One of my friends has changed it for a good C. Martin chorus.

No I have an EBS walvedrive. It's great, but really just a drive. So I'm gonna combine the RAT(or a Digitech Dist. Factory) and the EBS. Thanx for the advice. By the way I like your music.

  • the el grande is way better than the big muff, that is if you value your bottom end, the big muff has good distortion, but you loose the bottom end, with the el grande you retain that fat bass sound, with the muff it is very high and gainy, it depends on what you like

  • so this thing keeps its lows well??? sounds like it. anyone know more about it?

  • I had one of these. It keeps tons of lows much better than other bass drives/fuzzes/distorsions but its so gloomy for me, really chaotic.

MXR M-80 is better but there are problems with the lows in case of that pedal.

  • sounds good...

  • +1 on the hysteria thing. id also like to hear more of what the tone knob can do. all i know about this thing now is all the muffled sounds, not the higher grinding sounds

  • that sounds great, i know that usually bass fuzz pedals are wimpy sounding, but this sounds really good. would love to hear a hysteria bassline out of this
