  • Awwwww! I would never say that to my friend! I just subscribed to your videos and I love 'em. Keep them coming!!!!

  • I like the afro...it's cute...

  • I know this is old.

But I know what you mean

    about frds and Natural hair.

I had a frd the same way :-(

But its funny b/c she has a over processed perm!

I guess she things thats better... ~Smiling

  • Ur friend is a hater!

  • natural hair is beautiful where ever you go or are just because somebody wearing a weave it doesnt mean they look more beautiful than u are

  • I have been natural for three months and I transitioned 7 months before that. At first I had picked out a wig that I was going to wear until my hair grew out....I NEVER wore it. I have worn my twa from day 1 and I LOVE it!! Girl..forget that ignorance, you look beautiful! You should have gone to the club and laughed at ALL those frizzy, shrunken, sweat drenched relaxed heads and those matted wigs and weaves!! Team Natural!!!

  • A TwiSt OUt

  • Because of you im going natural, I really hope i can do this gulp -)

  • i bet your friend is fuuuugin SPEECHLESS now at your hair!

  • Hello

    I love your videos

How is the situation with your crazy neighbour? ;-)

    Clazza01 - England x

  • lol i love ur personality! you cant listen to other people if u always listen to other people you wont be happy for yaself to hell with tht wig!

  • your beAutiful i love the way you carry yourself u give me confidence to wear my hair natural. im in transition mode my husband supports me but will not let me do the big chop. if you going to wear your hair to the club any way you choose you still be fly. its all bout confidence.

  • you sound like like lil waynes ex toya

  • Being you is the best part of happiness. Be content in your simplicity....screw everybody else!

  • You're funny! Thanks for sharing your experience.

Just keep in mind that you should do what makes "YOU" happy. People can be cruel and say things with / without thinking. They want YOU to do something to make THEM feel better. So because they are uncomfortable and don't feel secure with natural hair.....you get the picture. (yep)

  • I just wear mine as a tiny fro. Heh. I get plenty attention with it like that, too. (positive)

  • lol Awwh shit you i floored when you said she said you was gonna look like a slave. Moma that is not your friend. I understand what your going through im from New Orleans and Jan 1,2011 will be my third time going natural every time i did it they asked me was my nerves bad did i need to talk to some body but there are products you can use you mainly have to play with it until you get it the way you like it. The only true person that has to love your hair is you! every body else can ride a bike

  • My family, including my mom, will never accept me with natural hair. I'm almost 21, and girl I tell u and yo family betta step on out and lead da way up there in New Orleans!! We got lots of natural sistahs here in AK and believe me we feel yo pain. I'm doing me right now. Every time they think they know whats best for my hair. "oh hair look betta dis way" "oh it looks more put together." Get off my back already!

At the end of the day, it's our hair on our head. We're made beautiful by God.

  • oh yeah. please don’t be hard on your friend. She does not understand. When I told my husband he also said congrats. but when he saw women with the BC’S he said oh no. please dont cut your hair and look like a boy. that is not feminine. At first I was mad because I have good intentions and i mean well but i had to realize that he did not understand and has not done the research I have. He still doesnt understand but that is life. forgive your friend and If you are happy thats all that matters.

  • I think you are beautiful. Your whole family is beautiful. Everyone is unique and will not get you are what you want to do. You have a lot of love and support on my end. Please don’t change anything. I am transitioning and I have been transitioning with braids because I haven’t sold my husband on the idea. Therefore i keep it in braids until I grow it out enough to prove that natural hair is versatile. Do you gorgeous. Baton Rouge LOVE

  • Screw that. I'm almost six months post and I rocked a puff to a party, then the club the day after. I looked young as hell ( partially because of my baby face lol) but it was cute and no one seemed to mind. The people I went with had no problem with it and most people just wanted to touch it lol

  • Girl, let me tell you something: I had people running away from me or cross the street when I was bald (from chemo). There will ALWAYS be someone who has something to say. However, I do understand the desire to be considered attractive. Chemo has other side effects besides hair loss and I felt downright UGLAY (yes, with the y) for a long time (still do).

It seems like you don't have a lot of support around you in going natural. I hope me and other naturals lift your spirits and encourage you!

  • i love your accent! nice videos

  • Gurllllll your hair looksa cute and soft. I am natural now. but I have softer hair that is not as thick as yours but it also shoulder length(sorry) I had my niece put twists in my hair-9/22/10 and I love it. I wear the colored clips I use to hold it after twisting. I retwist often and it doesn't bother me at all. I have only 55 twists and they look like little springs or coils. don't like puffy roots. I wash already this past sat, first wash. I rock my twists to workm mom not crazy , but its ME

  • There is always some people who have foot and mouth disease! I use to have a friend that when ever she would come to the house she had to let me know that some of my plants needed some water , i have a cobweb in the corner and my furniture would look better if i would just rearrange it to her liking! Some people just don't get it.

  • Girl please, your friend is insecure and see that you know who you are. I went to the club and I rock my 2x twist and this girl came up to me and said I wish I had your courage. Please I even get looks from my co workers who have perms in their head frying the heads. I will tell straight up use that as motivation Diva

  • i love your accent

  • have u tried "Beauty On The Bayou"?

  • i would have rocked my afro with some cute earrings

  • helfa you kno haha lol

  • u knw wat i don't understand, y r black women embarassed about their hair? are we aware that we were actually born with this hair (afro). I've had perms for a few years then decided to get the cut and go natural.A few people I knew said ''oh ur growing ur hair natural now''? And I knew what they ment was y ru growing ur hair natural? But u knw wat the more I get that reaction the more likely I am to keep my hair natural. Dnt mind people just do u.

  • i love your accent

  • Just fin 1st yr of college and since I've been in its been hard to keep up with my perming and I have been going natural since Jan and I am loving it. I used to have problems with dandruff really bad but since starting transition my scalp has been doing so much better. been to the club w/ permed hair + natural and i usually just wear a braidout pinned to 1side. natural hair has gotten me more attn than permed. God has blessed me w/ppl who r supporting me. ur vids r a blessing God Bless Ya'll

  • do not let anyone put you down. my mom is still trying to accept too.

  • girl you are gorGeous!! Do your makeup and wear some pretty earrings and hold your head up!! Your friend seems to have a confidence issue... low confidence

  • Miss Lady don't you know "YOU ARE A SHOW STOPPER AS A NATURAL HAIR WOMAN".. iT'S LIKE A BREATH OF FRESH AIR FOR MEN".

  • or maybe from u are from louisana?? im tryn to catch ur accent

  • are u from the east coast? like baltimore? im frm chicago but your accent im trying to catch it

  • That's your friend still girl, she just giving her honest opinion. Laugh it off and do what you want. Both of yall so funny. Take care, and keep showing the world your beautiful smile.

  • OMG ur accent sounds like Toya from "tiny and toya show", lil waynes ex. I love ur accent soooo much! i be tryin to impersonate it. Sry, wish i had some styles ):

  • I LOVE YOUR ACCENT :D xx

  • LOL!!! Girl you tickle me!!LOL! Wear your natural hair girl- You are beautiful!!! I love your accent too.!!

  • girl for new years i wore a wif lol..im not comfortable lookin like this at no club yet lol

  • i think you look great. the day when we can just walk out the house without worrying about what the hair looks like...that's a piece of true happiness.

  • But they don't have those results with their hair do they? No. Their hair is only so healthy and will only grow so long before it stops. They are still stuck in that chemical matrix way of thinking and willing to abuse their hair. I used to be like that. I would do anything to get my new growth straighten at whatever cost. But now I can look back and say it never got my hair the results that I wanted or needed. It only made it worst. Your hair is beautiful, words do hurt but keep ya head up :)

  • When you do a change like that and you receive that much HATE it only means one thing. They want to do it too but they don't know how so they say things hopefully to discourage you from your goal so they don't have to feel so bad. It's your hair why can't they leave it as that? They don't know how to join the club. I went natural to learn how to take care of my own hair and grow it long. If they have relaxers in their hair and hair down to their knees that would be cool for them but.....

  • That conversation right there just got me heated when you said that. Slaves weren't able to have a beautiful afro. There hair got nappy, tangley, kinky, and no way to take care of it. They would have loved to have clean hair and a regular hair regime. I am so thankful that I can just click away and find other people that have the same hair as me or the same obstacles and we can overcome them together.

  • Man I'm sorry you had to go through that Boo Boo. You are a grown woman. My mother was new too the idea when I was doing mine but she saw my sister with her's and the many styles that she did and with growing her hair out as well so my mother went natural too after that. I didn't expect that from her though. I thought she would think that I was ugly. You show them how to do it. I always wear my protective styles now so I can have my ends protected at all times to grow it strong and long.

  • Giiiirlll, you made me laugh so much with that video!!! just don't worry about this Best Friend of yours and keep going with ur natural style. Oh, by the way, my best Friend also told me last week at the job, that I looked just like Tom Sawyer 'with my puffy afro" LOL. See U

  • I think your hair looks great. I don't understand what in the world is wrong with having your hair texture and style. It is gorgeous to me. :)

  • oh and there's nothing wrong w/ wearing weave it's a great kind of protective style!

  • i've been there b4. i went natural in college and its hard to put urself out there like that. sometimes ididnt even want to go out bcuz of how my hair might be perceived. eventually i got over it. i putsome twistsor braids in the front and i worked it! lol i even tried a lil mohawk! do u honey & be PROUD!

  • This video is too funny! My sister told me the same thing to get a texturizer I told her I don't need a texturizer my hair is curly...I'm like if I wanted to keep chemicals in my hair I would've kept my perm

  • "THAT HEFFA HAD THE ORDACITY TO SAY "GIRL YOU GON LOOK LIKE A SLAVE.."

    LMAO!!!!!!!

not at you but at the comment, lol. HELLA HATIN!

I LOVE YOUR NATURAL HAIR! BEAUTIFUL.

  • Wow you are in New Orleans rocking the natural. I am proud of you and your entire family. I am a natural sister. People will say what ever but you are beautiful. Inside and especially out. They are just haters because they don't have the courage to be themselves. I am glad you exist. I almost gave up on my sistahs until I saw this video.

  • & NO OH NO SHE DID'NT @3:21...MMMM

  • lol, you are too funny. I am natural and I didn't know what to do with my hair either going to the club. I've worn wigs, braids and now a straw set with a little bit of color in the front. I get so many compliments from women and men.

  • o man..please you and your hair is beautiful.

Remember the ones closest to you hurt you the most, and sometimes you need to reconsider some friends.

  • forget your family and friends you do this for you and your family looks fine you don't need to resure your that your hair could look nice this want you want don't have to prove anything to anybody

  • You are very beautiful! Your friend is jealous....please know that this is true.

  • Say; what I need to process it to get it Curly For, when my hair is already Curly naturally?

  • going back to natural is getting back to being Black and Proud.

  • is that store Black Owned, you should try and talk him in to never going there again if it an't.

  • I love your Hair!!!!!!!!

  • ooo nooo you got to try and remember we deep in to lookin white as munch as possible, even if we don't know, and deny it.

  • oooo you got MOOOOOOoRe Hair

I love your hairlol ... I would wear it strait like that to the club .. fuck tryna look white.

  • do you have a tutorial for braids ? I love your baby hair tutorials for school. I amtrying to learn how to braid my 2 daughters natural hair. and wanna learn how to 2 strand twist their hair for school.

Thanks for the vids i hopefully will learn how to do their hair for school.

    Thanks a lot

  • do you!!! I love watching ur family's naturalness. I usually wear twist outs. Thats my staple for special occassions. when my hair was short I wore the front braided or flat twisted and a fro in the back

  • that short hair would look nice with some two strawn twistall over, or just at the back with alil part at the frount cornrow or flat twist. I cant believe your friend said that u gonna look like a slave, she just wish she could look as good as u with or without natural hair. Keep doing ur thing ang stay away from haters.

  • The slave thing was so funny lol

girl as long as you love it, that' all that matter, i don't do clubs so I don't know how natural girls wear they hair, maybe just stick a flower in it. But the mom thing is funny too, I don't think my moms like my hair either, she won't say it,

I love your accent and your hair.

  • I think you are beauiful the way you are I get the same thing from my people but the funny thing is my white friends love my hair lol

  • people are brainwashed!

  • sound like she mad that you look pretty with out all that weave and fakeness!

  • Girl my family told me the same thing when I cut mine the other day, lol!

  • u rock the hair.! :D

  • still rock your hair natural because my friend did a mohawk with a bump in the front. She killed that hairstyle everyone asked how she did her hair.

  • ok I almost lost my water when you said she said you was gonna look like a slave. Giiiiiiiiiiiiiiirl it was funny because I had similar comments from my family when I started my locs 12 years ago. It wasnt until they saw all the beautiful styles and the growth that they changed their minds. It takes time and education for ignorance. Don't worry about it. I love y'all and your fam is the greatest.

  • girl don't sweat that wig comment....u know we're only about 150 yrs out of slavery and some of us are still there ( no offence to friend but i keep it real )

  • Comment removed

  • you are a cool mommy...LOL! You still go to the club

  • OMG gurl plzz ppl can be so ignoran, when i go out to the club whether with hubby or friends i rock my wild funky fro, or wear puffs or whatever the heck i feel like,...thats rude of her to say that it wud be like u questioning her bout her "weave if it was busted" oh please your TW can be washed and go as is to the club thats sexy simple on confident doesnt really need alot done, ideas view my vid called Natural Styles MOnths 0-6

  • dont listen to your friends. color it put a treatment that would soften the hair. and rock it

  • im not so sure im going to put a color in it , thnx for the post!

    from stepf

  • my family, too...keep it up. my mother was completely against, but it's been about a year now and they're used to it. ....when my hair was that short I would wair a lot of hair clips.

  • same w/ my mom!

  • hair clips ??

from stepf , thanks for commenting .

  • Girl I ALWAYS go to the club natural! My friends really don't trip on what I do w/ my hair because they know I like to push the envelope. All you gotta do is beat down your face and put on some fly earrings! Although I'm not looking for extra attention, I end up getting more attention because of my hair being short (not to mention all my tattoos,,,,,lol). Men always comment on how CONFIDENT i must be! So tell your girls to stop hating on your confidence. Maybe they need to get some of their own.

  • i Know ! lol, thanks for the tip

    from stepf

  • girl people hate on you even if you are doing good or bad people are scared to go natural they are scared of the thought of being nappy but it was the best decision I have ever made I go to the club natural all the time and it is ways you can style your hair for the club and you still can wear your hair curly with a twist out or braid out girl dont give up keep at it you will fine something that will work for you check out my twist out and briad video

  • i know right , im just going to keep doing my "thang " lol thanks for this comment hevdahitta

    from stepf

  • M y sister doesn't like my natural hair, she always looking at it like it is talking back to her or something..so I know how you feel.

  • and i know how YOU feel. my momma called me "nappy head" in such a bad tone it seemed like she was calling me "nigga" lol i just shook it off cause i'm doing this for me.

  • I got the same responses from my mommy sis my friends but they got used to it they had no damn choice

  • thank you SexyLeo84

    from stepf

  • I laughed until I cried but at least your friend was upfront with you (even if she was wrong). I BC'd 12/26/08 and I'm still trying to figure it all out.

  • its going to turn out great!

please keep my updated ( i love hearing about others natural hair journey)

    from stepf

  • Totally off topic, but you have one of the prettiest smiles i have ever seen. And i thought I had a cute smile. Nothing compared to yours'! Luv ur vids! Keep em coming!

  • aww thank you ,

    i will !

    thanks for the comment

    from stepf

  • Hey gurl...first let me say that being natural is a blessing not a curse. You have a beautiful face and a great attitude. I did my big chop last week, and i wondered what people would say but it didn't stop me. Honey, put a little product in your hair, wear that smile, and tell them all to kiss your natural ass!) Seriously, it aint gonna be easy...but it will be so worth it. Enjoy your natural hair journey and remember that your are doing it for you, not anyone else.

  • :D aww thank you ... ( i feel a little bit better about going out to the club now ) from stepf

  • iv'e did, found alot ! from stepf

  • "...um, I'm like heifer, you know..."

That made me lol! I don't like cussin I just didn't expect you to say that -- and then how you said it was funny!

  • :) just keeping it real you know .. from stepf

  • Tell your friend if she doesnt like it then dont look that's all

  • haha :) she's still going to look..

Stepf says: Cut her eyeball out lol

    from stepf

  • I can't believe she said you look like a slave! That's super ignorant! Be strong with who you are and YOUR hair! I live in the mighty N.O. too and I know natural love is is pretty much non-existant. I love our hair! Who cares what ppl think!

    Love ya!

  • Love ya Back!

:D thank you , im kinda a little but happier about my hair now , lol , from stepf

  • if i still had my afro ( ive been locked for two years) i would wear braided half way back and let it puffed back. id also put a flower behind my ear. peace!

  • too cute! from stepf

  • I think your hair is beautiful as is, add some big earrings and you will be good to go. I find there are some individuals that cannot see the beauty in our natural hair.

  • hahaha :D , thats cute

    from stepf

  • is it now that bad that black people themselves think we must COVER UP our natural hair in public.....this is basically covering up our blackness

  • I never looked at it that way , deep ! from stepf

  • GIRL your hair,OUR hair is beautiful! DO NOT RELAX YOUR HAIR!!! I went natural two years ago it grew so fast and i can wear it both ways straight (flatiron) and natural. Your hair looks like it has a little curl to it, Sally's has a product called "texture and distort" by beyond the zone, its a cream, put that on your damp hair, finger comb it thru, let it dry, gel about an inch of the front down and get some cute decorative scarves from those cheap beauty supply stores a cute it up girl

  • hahah, might try that is it really THICK? how much ?

  • Put it on like you would a conditioner to cover all the hair, I will comb it thru and then just let it dry and your hair will have a SOFT natural curl pattern.

  • You kind of sound like a west indian when you first began speaking maybe a Grenadian or Bajan

  • hahahhah

    from stepf

  • I just want to send out some love and encouragement. My mother and sister had major problems when I decided that my daughter and I were going natural. It's been years and my sister still gives me grief about MY daughter. They even told her when she turns 18 she can relax her hair if she wants. She knows when she wants a straight style she can blow dry and flat iron though I discourage that practice I don't ban it for her.

  • my daughter stepf the same she loveess her hair straight ,

  • your hair is beautiful. tell your friend she needs 2 get like you.. lol

  • lol thank you

  • I dont have any videos but when I go out clubbing I either wear a fro or the style that's gets the guys going, COMB COILS. (I have 3inches of hair)

  • oh , i would love to see how that looks in the near future

  • You're very pretty

  • aww shucks , thanks lamyarts

  • I think little curls would go great with your personality for some reason...after you wash and condition your hair towel dry your hair my patting only so its a little damp still. then use some conditioner and some hair moisturizer that you already use and work it through your hair without pulling apart your natural spirals. I know I'm typing a lot of words but this is a super quick do that's so cute and it protects and moisturizes hair.

  • thanks for the helpful tips from stepf

  • LOL!! Some people just crack me up. It is fine to change it up a little and throw on a wig weave ever so often. But that still doesn't change who you really are. I guess everyone feels like they can't be cute unless they have fake hair down their backs. Ummm no, natural is BEAUTIFUL!!

  • THANK YOU from familygoingnatural

  • i just went to the club for the first time since my bc..i had a guy tell me that i looked like flo from good times. but i rocked the hell out of my twa. i luv it!

  • hahah thanks for the laugh I needed it

  • Girl confidence is everything, do you honey and rock that fabulous natural hair !!!!!!

  • thanks for the comment tiffanybridgett

  • lately,I've been home chillin

    well welcome to the family.

  • i will check it out , thank you

  • My family feels that way .

  • Like I commented to your daughter- natural is always prettier than the imitation! I went natural b/c I was tired of being in the only race that HAS to change their hair. We have to change our mindset. WE have to maintain our resolve about loving our authentic selves- just the way THE CREATOR made us. As for your friend - ignore her comments and reiterate your resolve to stay natural if that is your plan) For the record, I love your hair and I know that natural is ALWAYS prettier b/c it is U.

  • aww i wish i had a blog i would post on there ,you are too sweet thank you.

  • Y in d fuck is she going to tell u how to wear ur hair .... ur hair is long enough to do some hair syles i had my hair like that at some point i loved it i would fix it more then now that i have my hair long im hispanic but i seen some blk ladies here in my neighborhood with short hair nice styles though

  • HAHAHAHA...what's so funny is - my friend just asked me to go to a concert with her in a few days and she's talking all this mess about how we getting new outfits and to make sure I get my hair done (lol) She's probably not going to be too happy when I tell her I cut it off tonight. HA!

  • LMAO , !! That is too funny please give me an update .

  • I from the BR, but my daddy from New Orleans, so I knew it when I heard it in your voice. And I feel you when you say "Heifer." But keep rockin' your hair!

  • LOL Thanks !

  • most annoying shit ive ever seen.

  • i feel you , your not interested in taking care of your natural african american hair then move on . LOL

  • haha. touche'

  • i like your channel,good job

  • you are very pretty. I think your should find some other events to go to (jazz clubs, movies, plays) where natural hair is accepted. Forget the damn club!

  • aww,thats sweet.I never been to a jazz club.

  • You hair look cute i don't know what ppl be talking about let their hair keep falling out from them perms lol you can check out my natural hair, I got locs doe but its still natrual. Oh and i do my hair myself, i never will pay someone just to twist my hair if i have two hands lol

    bless

  • your locs are beautiful ,alonnakyle .did you see my loc vid wit no clips.

  • Where are you from? I'm trying to figure out your accent but have no idea what it is.

  • WHAT BAY-BEY' LOL , New Orleans The 504, The Dirty South ,The N.O,The Big Easy ,The Boot LoL

  • I'm a born&raised NYer, but I've been living in the South for about 3 years(for school)...that's the first time I've ever heard that accent. lol

but good luck to you and your fam on your nappturality. It might get hard to get accustomed to and you'll surely run into the people that still just don't know better, but remember that God makes no mistakes and you were beautifully and wonderfully made.

  • thank you,BlueBajan

  • i should have named this video " how do you rock your hair on a cruise or the club"LOL .good luck on your transition

  • Oh yeah you should try IC Fantasia Gel I found it in Sallys. Wet your hair and rub the gel through and you will like the wave pattern. Your little girl might like that too because I can imagine how she feels getting teased in school especially when grown women can't understand natural hair how can children? I look forward to following your family in their journey.

  • you are so right, thank you

  • Girl I LIVED on RODS I don't have any videos from that on Youtube but RODS (the small ones when I was short) are the WAY to go and then you can pick it out and pin up the sides. Let me know if you need some more help!

  • thanx jenniferslaton1 ,can you please make a vid on how to rod.i need help

  • The straight hair as the only beautiful hair mentality is stronger in some than others (us). It can be one of the hardest addictions to break cuz it's rooted in the subconsciousness. But it just takes a spark and a bit of an open mind. Ask your friend, why does she use chemicals to transform her hair into something that it's not? And why is OUR hair the only type not good enough in it's natural state? Give her some food for thought and be patient. You just keep looking good!

  • thanx jacquelscott

  • Thank you monacosun1

  • Don't mind the haters, your hair is beautiful

  • you are a beautiful woman. Your friend doesn't understand the power of being natural. Many do not and become ashamed in their ignorance. I have experienced same reactions. Don't let that stop you. Look around youtube. There are many videos of natural hairstyles for different lengths.

You will love your hair even more the more you learn from these ladies on youtube. Good Luck.
