@shubunkini yes but you realise this is a joke right? at least gary has a sense of humour! and it was the 80's, there is far more cringeworthy things than this from that era too
Well I must be one of the few that enjoyed this version of a classic song ! I can remember watching this on TV and I can honestly say I loved it as much then as I do now ! Sometimes its cool to be different !
He has definitley done this for a laugh, there is no way Numan would have took this seriously.Numan is genius listen to his albums especially his latest stuff, amazing.
IF you knew Gary Numan , you'd know he has a great sense of humour, and he took this segment as a means to an end, ie he was trying to get advertising for forthcoming singles and a tour..................But for a former mime artist Leo Sayer sucks at miming. The song after this is a rare numan track / early version of "this is new love" with Caroline Munro on "vocals", her out of the Bond film The Spy who loved me.
I think you had to be around at the time to realize the Leo Sayer show was more of a humerous kind of thing rather than anything serious hence this little ditty.
Numan's icey blue head is the best part!

So this is what he meant by "Sing a chorus of 'On Broadway' and deny it all." I'd want to deny it too.

Love it when he takes the hat, the gloves and the overcoat and the blue and white look is visible.

Of course Numan's got a great sense of humour - Sacrifice, Exile, Jagged, & Jagged Hedge, are testament to that!

Haha funny how he did his hair blue when he took off the hat.
This is great, nice upload. Maybe one day we'll see a studio demo of it.
