You guys are lucky to be able to get one of these new, I'm getting a 98 RMX250 2t tomorrow. I've been watching a whole bunch of videos on it and the 450 and I think I'm going to be satisfied!
I just got mine and love it bad point is it only has a 6.2 liters fuel tank other than that love it. You can now get a IMS tank that holds 9.8 liters but can't get one in aus.
@fzrsmkr what high performance 4 stroke are you talking about? like a race bike rmz450 compared to somthing like an exc 45 0. coz matinnace is heaps different on both bikes and both are high performnce.
as i said the honda was the worst ive encountered with durability issues, the yamaha i now own is fantastic, the ktm is the bike im leaning towards but thats the 2stk 300xc,but i love the 4stk grunt,so with the new suzuki off road version i just wondered how well built they are because every make has its own flaws, but some are more glaring than others.if you know what im trying to get at.
I'm sorry to hear that you had issues with your Honda, as they are without question the most durable, and by a long shot... We've really had no issues with the Suzuki's. I would not hesitate purchasing one. We've only had one 300XC ever come back, and a 50 cent clip repaired it (an electric starter issue).
@fzrsmkr When you say Honda are the most durable by a long shot you include the CRF450? From what i have seen they are still grenades.. And the Yamahas seem to now be the bike for abuse. I have recently bought an RMX450 2011 and i love it. Best bike ive owned. IMS tank fixes its small tank (can be bought in Aus). The bike only has 150Kms on it and it just keeps getting stronger. No issues. Use good oil, i use Motul 5100. Maintenance is a breeze with this bike. Great machine and HEAPS of grunt!
hows the durability on the zukis, ive had honda 450x(complete top end 26hrs)yamaha wr450over 80hrs still just checking and shimming the valves, but a new bike would be nice-rmx or my fav for right now ktm300xc
They are all very durable if well maintained. The Honda's & KTM's are amazing for the amount of abuse they can take (lack of proper maintenance) and keep going strong. Yamaha's being the least durable when not maintained properly. The rule of thumb is that the 4-strokes race bikes of today require ten-times the amount of maintenance of the 2-strokes from yesterday...
It depends on your State. In Washington and Oregon you can not. You'll have to check in your location to see if it can be modified to be street legal...
Hey mate, if you want to make it street legal in order to get from point A to point B than forget about it. This bike works by hours not by miles. Even going to the post office and super market will add up to a lot of time. Your DRZ will be better for that kind of job.
Thanks for the comment, you're very kind. However, this is not my bike (though I would love it to be), I work at the shop that sells them and we had just received it on this day...
