dorothy dandridge is my favorite lady in the entire world. it's so cool that you put the two of them together on this video. yes, they were very good friends along with ava gardner. they used to hang, go to school, throw parties etc. together. this is why it's so important that we open a book and turn off the tube, if we expect to truly learn anything.

4:30 they were in fact BFFs but due to the prejudice in Hollywood the media refuse to do any coverage on their friendship so it is very hard to find any photos of them together. There was a whole lot more star in their circle: Ava Gardener (she was part of their BFF trio) Sidney Potier James Dean Natalie Wood Pearl Bailey Desi Arnez Diane Caroll Brock Peters Shirely MacLaine Marlon Brando (He had the hots for Miss Dandridge) Pretty much the whole Rat Pack

@Eseercam : I know, right? It's a shame. I've been looking for an actual photo of MM & DD & also MM & JD together. BUt it's hard. MM & JD knew of each other, but I don't know if they actually interacted together. You can add Eartha Kitt to your list as well. (She was very good friends w/ JD... he even took dance classes @ her studio.)

@Genevaave : I knew that many years ago. While working as a reporter I discovered that they were friends who took some of the same acting classes together. Their friendship (albeit briefly shown) was also highlighted in "Introducing Dorothy Dadridge".

@17sunnyhour Becuase people at that time were racist and Marilyn was very big at that time so they idolized her and not both. And so people now look at the past and see her alot more then the other women of that time.I like them both ;)

Yes, I read this as well. They kept in touch. Marilyn was also good friends Sammy Davis Jr. but you would only see her with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Marilyn was also a fan of Ella Fitzgerald....but you don't see much of that either. Thanks for the comment!!!
