A lot of these shows were recorded in the television studios in Kinshasa and you were not allowed to get up and dance.I saw Choc Stars there and can you imagine how hard it was not to dance.
If you are a Luo, then at some point you probably sang after nyambula: "nyathina onge pacho". Wish we had the lyrics and their correct translation. Till them, I'm enjoying the music and using my own made-up lyrics as necessary.
..absolutely one of the best sung by Dalienst, (secondly only to Mouzi in my book)...and to listen to the teasing Franco's solo guitar licks in the background, this is the way rumba was supposed to be played and sung
To our friends in DRC. Kindly avail books to enable some of us to learn the basics of Lingala language. Where can I find the OAU book "Yekola Lingala"
There is NO Swahili version of this that Dalienst had anything to do with. He surely would have mentioned that to us, because he did make a point pointing out to us there are actually three studio recordings of Liyanzi Ekoti Ngai Na Motema (Munsi).
I love TP OK and Franco and monsoir Racharuex. Can someone please post the tune which I think had the lines "Dance dance hee, African TP connection..." it was a wild dance tune and I remenber dancing to it but can not find it any where. My dad used to sing with these guys in the 60s. Awesome music. RIP Franco.
I love it threeeee.....!!This is when music was real music and musicians were naturally designed to sing! Music was from the depth in their flesh and bones and not from their pockets.
One great hit. Reminds me of my childhood days in the early and mid 80's. This was the greatest band ever assembled in African soil. His music will live forever.
can someone kindly interpret the first part of this this song for me. I love lingala music but i can not understand a word and i am so frustrated right now coz i have no clue what this beautiful song is really about. what does Makambo mean? what does lisusu mean? Please help.
A woman goes dancing to enjoy herself, and a man has his eyes locked on her, because of her beauty and the way she is dressed. She is saying that this man does not inquire who is responsible for her good upkeep. (another man). She is going to respect herself and be loyal to her man, and anybody dancing with her must do so with respect. makambo means trouble. Lisusu means, other, another or, else. It depends on the context. I hope this helped.
buashraf I agree with you, at least he left us all his music. It`s a pity, that most of the European people, don`t know him!!! I am Spanish woman and I love all his music. Thanks for answering. My regardas!
kindu2006 I was married to a Ugandan man, that is why I happen to know this music. I love Franco`s music very much.I live in Spain. Thank you for answering. I am a woman. Hopping one day we can meet and talk about Franco`s music!! my regards brother
