Having the range doesn't mean a thing if you don't know how to use it. Rachelle uses it so tastefully with great tone. I can't think of another singer that can even come close to her amazing level.
For your information, you all, Rachelle can get up to an F6 (F after high C) in her full chest voice (believe it or not) and as high as a G7 in whistle notes, and can go as low as low as a C2, plus she can sustain notes for eternity both stupid high and low notes. Now tell me why we havign range discussions in which you are naming the likes of Beyonce and Mariah or anyone else most of you have ever heard in your lives.
oh, and another thing, where else on this earth is beyonce well known for her talent and can draw a crowd like in this video. that's the point, we here in the US are so media driven by what's hot, whereas other countries recognize true talent. but like jayz said, im running the game and got the badest bitch wearing my chain, you would be crazy to compare her to rachelle

In all honesty, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone living today....or who's ever lived at all...that can translate emotional content into sound like Rachelle does. If you ever get a chance to hear her live....PLEASE. If I had left after the first sentence that she sung, I truly believe that I would have received far more than I paid for. p.s it would be extremely foolish to compare rachelle and beyonce. They are extremely different artists. They both have AMAZING vocal ranges, so you can not even dog on beyonce even if u despised her. The only major difference is that rachelle has the whiste register, but Beyonce has the versatility to sing a range of different genres from soul right through to rock/pop.
Also, Teezer44, do you suggest that Rachelle lacks versatility? I assure you that everything Beyonce can do vocally...Rachelle can do easily. However, I can also assure you that the same will not be true the other way around. Even an incredible talent like Mariah Carey...cannot do what Rachelle does! No, Beyonce has proven her versatiity with her performances covering Musical theatre numbers to soul/pop - no female vocalist today is as versatile as her - hence why she's so successful and crosses over. My point is that they are BOTH very acomplished talents so its foolish to try and knock one's talent - its down to preference! And it aint all about range but B's has apprx 3.5/4 octaves and rachelle with the whistle is closer to 4.5/5 octaves - neither are anything to laugh at. So y the hate!

I can not bare this! I was recommended to listen to this singer and i think she has amazing range and the ability to do great vocal acrobatics. However i find this extremely aggravating and unprofessional. Its toooo many tricks which detracts from the melody and lyrics and EMOTION. Its like a good footballer who is too busy doing tricks to actually play the match. The true greats like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra all knew the power of simplicity and most of all, emotion.
I'm going to have to disagree with you. If you look back on her work, her live work this is what makes her such a JOY to watch. Because each song has a different feel and those little nuances maker her performances enjoyable. That's why her shows are packed and lively. She gives that energy to us and we feed it right back to her. I saw her last night, she sang that same song. In a different way. No matter how many times I hear her sing, its not the same. The power and emotion are always there.
Its gotta Black Lisa Stansfield sound to it, love the facial exercises/expressions lol. I do those as well, but not in public ha ha

Would love to attend one of her shows.
I've tried her website for tours in europe (I reside in Amsterdam) but see only 1 gig planned in the USA for this year so far.
Untill that time I'll have to make do with these fantasic posts.
Her voice infuses me with positivity, I feel balanced and energised, can put things into prespective.
Whats gonna happen if I see her live?!!

Right Bemaniac...Beyonce is R&B {pop, whatever genre they have her under this week lol}...Rachele is Jazz....They're voices are nothing to be compared AND Rachele has been in the business for a very long time...how are u going to compare a seasoned 'artist' to someone who hasn't been in the business for much more than what is it...10 years? Yeahhhhhhh, Rachelle is definitely cut from another singers cloth and is not to be compared to ANY pop artist--so I am with you on that! This woman helped me develope my voice back in the 80's. I jammed her all the time!

This teen / young 20's generation Y doesn't have a clue as to what constitutes a GREAT singer. They are REALLY caught up in music videos and dancing around.
It's sad. But it was manipulated by the industry cutting out A&R & Development departments. So-called artists today don't have to know how to sing; it's a beauty contest.

Having the range doesn't mean a thing if you don't know how to use it. Rachelle uses it so tastefully with great tone. I can't think of another singer that can even come close to her amazing level.

For your information, you all, Rachelle can get up to an F6 (F after high C) in her full chest voice (believe it or not) and as high as a G7 in whistle notes, and can go as low as low as a C2, plus she can sustain notes for eternity both stupid high and low notes. Now tell me why we havign range discussions in which you are naming the likes of Beyonce and Mariah or anyone else most of you have ever heard in your lives.

oh, and another thing, where else on this earth is beyonce well known for her talent and can draw a crowd like in this video. that's the point, we here in the US are so media driven by what's hot, whereas other countries recognize true talent. but like jayz said, im running the game and got the badest bitch wearing my chain, you would be crazy to compare her to rachelle

hands down, rachelle is in a league all by herself. you can talk about this all you want. if you want versatility, pick any rachelle ferrell video posted on this site. she will kill anybody. the bottom line is, not discrediting beyonce, but it is her marketability that has been a viable factor in her success, not just her singing. in today's mainstream music all it takes is some sex appeal and to shake your ass and just like that you a hit. but when it all boils down to it, that aint bout shit.

I love beyonce and have been a fan of hers since SHE was 16 so i know what you saying. If you google Beyonce's first album with Destiny's Child it was old school R&B sounded and was very good. In all honesty, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone living today....or who's ever lived at all...that can translate emotional content into sound like Rachelle does. If you ever get a chance to hear her live....PLEASE. If I had left after the first sentence that she sung, I truly believe that I would have received far more than I paid for. Absolutely incredible and incomparable!

p.s it would be extremely foolish to compare rachelle and beyonce. They are extremely different artists. They both have AMAZING vocal ranges, so you can not even dog on beyonce even if u despised her. The only major difference is that rachelle has the whiste register, but Beyonce has the versatility to sing a range of different genres from soul right through to rock/pop.

However, I can also assure you that the same will not be true the other way around. Even an incredible talent like Mariah Carey...cannot do what Rachelle does! And she has the range that Beyonce lacks. All of them are great vocals. All of them are versatile. I love them all. Period. But Rachelle has a special place for me....as does India Irie...

No, Beyonce has proven her versatiity with her performances covering Musical theatre numbers to soul/pop - no female vocalist today is as versatile as her - hence why she's so successful and crosses over. My point is that they are BOTH very acomplished talents so its foolish to try and knock one's talent - its down to preference! And it aint all about range but B's has apprx 3.5/4 octaves and rachelle with the whistle is closer to 4.5/5 octaves - neither are anything to laugh at. So y the hate!

I can not bare this! I was recommended to listen to this singer and i think she has amazing range and the ability to do great vocal acrobatics. However i find this extremely aggravating and unprofessional. Its toooo many tricks which detracts from the melody and lyrics and EMOTION. Its like a good footballer who is too busy doing tricks to actually play the match. The true greats like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra all knew the power of simplicity and most of all, emotion.

I'm going to have to disagree with you. If you look back on her work, her live work this is what makes her such a JOY to watch. Because each song has a different feel and those little nuances maker her performances enjoyable. That's why her shows are packed and lively. She gives that energy to us and we feed it right back to her. I saw her last night, she sang that same song. In a different way. No matter how many times I hear her sing, its not the same. The power and emotion are always there.
