Internet killed much of 80s music. 80s was the last decade without internet and without the blunt reality of modernity, 80s was the last decade with idealistic fascination for that modernity, which later was to become everyday frustration.
Saw them live at either The Venue or The Palace in Melb and they were amazing live. Not only tight vocally annd a a cute lead singer but had a great guitarist - Rex Goh who mesmerised me with his dexterity and slickness. Supp only meant to be a studio band - well thanks for just saying what the and amazing the crowd.UROK
why didnt jenny morris stay with this kind of music??? it really suits here..and great music. what a spew!!!! and this hair stlye really looked good on her.
This is the first time I've clapped eyes on this video and I love it already - what great new wave sound! Wish I'd been aware of the group at the time :-)
@Morcaiden Australia was peaking with talent during the 70's and 80's. You might have guessed if you think up as many Aussie bands possible (Men At Work, Icehouse, INXS, Divinyls, AC/DC, The Church, Air Supply, Little River Band, Midnight Oil, and so on). QED were just a one hit wonder. The singer moved on to far richer solo success. Unfortunately, the bulk of Australian music simply didn't make it overseas. This is just one out of many goods from this period that's unknown outside oz.
@nzoz1983 - Right after I watched this, I went on to view the rest of Jenny Morris's work. Impressive. It's a pity that QED was a just a one-hit wonder, as you say. The makings of a great new wave act were certainly there for all to see, even 20-odd years later...but just watching "Everywhere I Go" sent me back to that time and place in the early '80s when music lived -- thanks for your reply!
@Morcaiden Yep, the song and video carries the formula of its time. QED had another moderate hit called 'This One', which could have been a bigger hit than it was. The guitarist of QED was Rex Goh, who previously played in Air Supply (he did the solo's on their big hits). There's more New Wave goodies on this and my other nzoz channels.
boy there was some mad sounds and voices in the 80's, so hard to believe these great songs were once so common, unforgettable music, not like the shit we have now, here today and gone tomorrow, this music would stop you whatever you were doing and make you sing
@groovyrecordstore What about the Veils? They absolutley rock and the lead singer grew up in NZ, DD Smash, Sharon O'Neill, Split Enz rocked, lead singer of Noiseworks is a kiwi also.

I was told QED were not meant to be a live band but they did a handful of shows. saw them once and they were awesome. Closed with a piece opening with a gr8 Guitar solo. Rex Goh. Very good band and love this song. Jenny later worked as a meber of sorts with an Aussie band ... i N X S. . Andrew often wrote and produced her . Thanks

She was pretty but the private schools girls thing. Ok I take back my comment. Great vocalist but hell get over the nuns......or your version of them.
Jenny Morris's voice is rich and vibrant. It's a crying shame her name is unknown to North America! The more I hear this, the more I like it. The more I like it, the more I want to hear it. Tautological and, well, QED. :)
I remember having a crush on Jenny back then but then I also had a crush on the the guy that appears in the clip with her. LOL I'm pretty sure he appeared in the tv show The Young Doctors.
she did a few gigs with INXS,totally love her,saw inxs and her at festival hall in melb,my ex's bro had her for an art teacher at flemington high i do believe!!
wow i just happened upon this song and its great. I have always been a fan of Jenny and never knew she was in this band. Does anyone know if you can buy their albums??
Who listens to 97.1 FM 'The Voice of the Dandenongs' community radio station? I only ever heard these classics on this station. I have been in the UK for nearly six years now and seriously miss the Aussie classics. I hope 97.1 gets online so I can tune in when I'm at work.
I love this song does anyone have or has heard the whole of QED's Animal Magic album and could tell me if the other tracks are as strong as this one ?
Already listened to it and like it too. I live in UK and have only recently discovered Jenny Morris have been looking for everything on youtube. Now I have to find the CDs or Albums.
I have 'Animal Magic' on cassette from about 1986 and would love to see it someday on CD (unless there's already a pirated copy floating around on the web). QED were another underrated Aussie band when the local scene was overpacked with great acts (how about The Dugites, Cockroaches, Spy V Spy etc)
I had totally forgotten about this song until I heard it on the radio yesterday. I remembered how much I liked it in the 80s and wondered who the great vocalist was. I had no idea it was Jenny Morris, Go Jen!
thanks for posting this. hadn't seen this since shown on countdown in 1984, the only part of the clip i remembered was the 'nun wearing sunglasses' scene!
I remember when this song first came out. For some reason my clockradio came on at about 3:00 am playing this song, first time I had heard it, I layed in bed and just listened to it. I have loved this song from that first moment and yes Jenny Morris is hot. God I miss the 80's.
Haven't heard this for many many years....Great to see and HEAR. Thanks NZOZ!!

Jenny Morris's voice is rich and vibrant. It's a crying shame her name is unknown to North America! The more I hear this, the more I like it. The more I like it, the more I want to hear it. Tautological and, well, QED. :)

Awesome song. The melody of "could it be you really care" cracks me every time tho.

I remember having a crush on Jenny back then but then I also had a crush on the the guy that appears in the clip with her. LOL I'm pretty sure he appeared in the tv show The Young Doctors.

Who listens to 97.1 FM 'The Voice of the Dandenongs' community radio station? I only ever heard these classics on this station. I have been in the UK for nearly six years now and seriously miss the Aussie classics. I hope 97.1 gets online so I can tune in when I'm at work.
Thanks again NZOZ.

I love this song does anyone have or has heard the whole of QED's Animal Magic album and could tell me if the other tracks are as strong as this one ?

As strong as this one????
Perhaps, maybe their following hit which just so happened to be titled 'This One' and can be found on youtube.

Already listened to it and like it too. I live in UK and have only recently discovered Jenny Morris have been looking for everything on youtube. Now I have to find the CDs or Albums.
chessmed1978 3 years ago
Good luck... you might have some success through import. As for QED, I don't know if their CD's are still in print.

I remember when this song first came out. For some reason my clockradio came on at about 3:00 am playing this song, first time I had heard it, I layed in bed and just listened to it. I have loved this song from that first moment and yes Jenny Morris is hot. God I miss the 80's.

A young Jenny Morris, a very under rated artist.

She was even younger when The Crocodiles "Tears" was released in 1980...
