"This is not where I'm from but this is my biggest hit record." Why the hell not give the proper credit to David Loggins? Why steal something from someone and pass it off as your own? I understand covers, but "my biggest hit record." Disgusting ito do that in my opinion.
@Delticola DAC did not write this song, i agree with you on that. But because he covered it and can't be one of his greatest hits? I guess that means "take this job and shove it" was never actually a hit for johnny paycheck?
@mjhs3609 You have a good analogy and i appreciate your comment. But you slightly missed my point in your response. 60-80% of David Allan Coe fans think he wrote this song and thinks he was the original artist and David Allen Coe only perpetuates this misbelief because he won't give proper credit. Why not say "This was my biggest hit record, which included my cover of Dave Loggins song. But again, good debate, and thanks for the comment response.
@Delticola Your right i thought it was his song as well until i looked it up. But i will defend DAC to the death. The man is a legend and NO DOUBT one of the greatest songwriters to ever live!!!!
@gardee37 Dave Loggins wrote this song. DAC also did a little number called "You never even call me by my name". Loves me some DAC but he did do a few covers!!!
@gardee37 Dave Loggins wrote this song. DAC also did a little number called "You never even call me by my name" written by Steve Goodman. Loves me some DAC but he did do a few covers!!! by
@gardee37 Do your research, you're mistaken by your comment. This man, Coe, did not write this song but he sure makes you think he did "my biggest hit record." It's not his song. "He never had to" Well, he did and he wants folks to think it's his and that is just wrong.
This was my biggest hit record? What the heck? This is not his song, why does he want folks to think it's his song? Ok, he admits this is not where he's from. But why rip off a song and not give credit to the artist? Why say "This was my biggest hit record." I ripped off Dave Loggins, destroyed his song, and then had a hit record because of it. Sorry folks. Sorry for DAC fans, but this is a disgrace to the origional.
dac is a legend this aint his song he was never in elvis costellos band but he has a lot of amazing songs such as revenge, free born ramblin man, fox on the run, still sing the old songs, will you lay with me and many many many many many many others
o yeah he is not that out of shape he kinda has a hunch back now i have a pic with him and he looks trim as hell and the pic was takin 2 months after this
Ok i was at this show to sitting right by this guy and it is just a bad recording. It did not sound bad there. he is not racist. his drummer is not black. he does not sing the x rated songs anymore. jimi hendrix was infact in dac's band a long time ago. how about you all talkin shit about him just dont listen to it or i dunno maybe open one of his books and read it. DAC Is The Best ever and he is infact a true county outlaw along with waylon, looked down upon on country row for long hair.
I think Dave Loggins actually did write the song. This is according to his profile at the Nashville Songwriter's Foundation. I don't think they'd get it wrong.
this is a live version its way different look it up his recorded version was sweet too but anyway he fucking wrote the song so fuck these people talking shit
When you say "David" I hope you mean Dave Loggins, cause he's the origional artist. The author of the song and the origional singer of the song. Check it out, do a search. You can tell in how he sings the song, he's the master, not Coe. Coe kind of makes it trash when it's actually a master piece.
you're right it was written by dave loggins, but i have to disagree with you saying DAC ruins it... THIS video ISN'T a good sample of DAC from his prime. this is DAC now, he's old, and this is live. if u haven't heard the studio version of DAC's take of the song, look it up, it's great. loggins would surely be proud
Coe's recording of this song is really good. I wouldn't argue over Loggins or Coe's recording and who's is the best. If someone can carry a tune, it's hard to screw this tune up. This is not Coe's best of this tune, but just look around on Youtube and you will find his orginal recording of it. Peace and RIP Dan Seals and Vern Gosdin.....
@DAVEFZEK actually no im sorry im a DAC fan as well, but unless wiki is wrong. ( quoting them):
"Please Come to Boston" is the title of a song from 1974 by American singer-songwriter Dave Loggins. It first appeared on Loggins' 1974 album Apprentice (In a Musical Workshop) and was produced by Jerry Crutchfield."

David Allen "Dave" Loggins (born November 10, 1947 in Mountain City, Tennessee) is a singer, songwriter and musician. He is widely remembered for his 1974 composition "Please Come to Boston", which was a top-10 hit in the U.S. for him, and was subsequently covered by numerous other artists. He is a cousin of singer/songwriter Kenny Loggins.
Please come to Boston is a fantastic song when sung by the origional artist. This is a disgrace to music. I'm embarassed for the human race when watching this.
Great hair ...... but that pool cover that got stuck on his head's gotta go...ya think someone in the band woulda told him it landed on his melon in a wind storm!!!
he looks like a poster child for lipitor and weight watchers. and if he don't join one or the other he won't be with us much longer. and i know we don't want that. take care of yourself bro.
Haha.I agree 100%! He def needs to join gym and stop fucken up Dave Loggins' masterpiece.. hes not even singing..He has agood voice but is fucking up the performance..BOOO!

I saw him in concert in Detroit. He did a medoly of this song and lay with me in a field of stone. It was the best sounding thing I have ever heard. He is the greatest. This version isn't to good though. The video camera.
Sounds like sour grapes to me. Your profile says SELF PROCLAIMED rockstar. DAC doesnt have to proclaim shit. He is a true star. Maybe a little tarnished and faded, but he's a fucking star none the less.
So you keep your fucking yap shut and show some fucking respect.
what happened to the video of this song that he did in 1985 where he was dressed nice and doing a real concert? it was on here but now it is gone. this video sounds like shit. he has gone down hill bad. and that stupid damn wig is a joke!! and he now dresses like a bum!
